Congratulations on the job. You must be thrilled after all your hard work. A pattern I've used for me & my husband is the free ABB t shirt pattern from DIBY club, they also have a childrens pattern which might be suitable for your son.

Congratulations on new job! I subscribe to Love notions news letter, every Friday they offer a pattern for $5 which works out approx 4.70 ish . They cater for different cup sizes. This week it's the Cadence dress and top. Worth a look.

I’m also in the process of making some elevated tee style tops. I have the pattern by Styla Patterns called Portofino. It is both a dressy style knit top and a dress option. I haven’t made it yet but hope to soon. Also, I love the Itch to Stitch Glenelly top & dress pattern. I’ve made several of the tops and it is nicer than a basic tee. It has a nice neckline. 😊

As for patterns, I've been seeing quite a few of the Closet Core Cielo tops with their Petra trousers made up in linen and linen blends for summer. I have the pattern, but I've not made them yet as I'm still unpacking and sorting out my sewing room after moving earlier this month. They are top on my list, if I do enjoy the blouse as much as I expect to, the Cielo pattern slso has a dress that I'd like to make!😊

I've just recently made the men's Anything But Basic Tee by DIBY Club and it is a great draft. It's free an they have one in kids' sizes and one for women.
Another freebie you might look at for a slightly elevated tee shirt is the Paper Scissors Cloth Galaxy Tee. It has such pretty sleeves.

Congratulations on the job! Lovely to watch someone who shops in my price range! I use pound fabrics quite often too. In fact I think I have some rust linen that’s about to be a pair of trousers. T-shirt pattern for your son, have you tried the Anything but basic tee by do it yourself better? It’s a free pattern sizes go from 1-12 and is in a regular and slim cut. The instructions are good and I’ve used it for bot grandchildren and it’s fits great. Love you makes and looking forward too seeing purple gingham made up!

Love the colour and t shirt pattern you are wearing, but the neckline... make a small tuck at the bottom of the band emphasising the v shape and it will fit better with none of the gaping that is happening now. My eye is drawn to the slight imperfection because of the detail just below it. Otherwise very nice

Beautiful makes! (This twist t-shirt emphasizes one breast over another, so it looks imbalanced and it’s immediately noticeable because the twist draws the eye there instead of to you.)
