Kinda miss when he would briefly discuss the losing team. It’s such an important part of the story to me. For example him covering Boston’s loss in 2022 adds so much.

“Every team could use a Holiday. This one now has 2 rings”. His acquisition changed the Celtics chances dramatically. He was amazing on defense the entire season but especially in the playoffs.
As a ST Louis Cardinals fan as well as the Celtics, I loved this line! The Cardinals had Matt Holliday on their last championship team, then the missing piece for the Celtics was Jrue Holiday!! Every team does need a holiday lol!

These are getting pathetically worse/more rushed every year. Breen didn’t even acknowledge the losing team (which Boston was in 2022, and they got a shout out during that year’s montage). The unexpected run through the west by the Mavericks deserved SOME kind of mention given it was Luka’s first finals. Not only that, the common themes of “beautiful team basketball” and “XYZ will never be forgotten” are just repetitive now and need to be stashed away. Most egregious was very little reference to the dominant Celtics teams of the past… and not showing Bird’s photo as another commenter wrote. Tatum and Brown now have their place in the annals of franchise history, but this didn’t make me feel it. And to top it off, there was no splash screen of the Celtics being 2024 NBA Champions, at the very very end, to put a bow on the coverage. Really disappointing.
These are good observations. I think Breen’s voice over the music and highlights is always going to be enough to put a smile on my face. But your points make me realize it definitely wasn’t the best one they’ve done. Fitting since this series was kind of a stinker. Do you work in TV production? Cause you’ve got a good eye

This isn’t the first time the losing team didn’t get mentioned relax. The warriors wasn’t mentioned when the Raps won and the heat wasn’t mentioned last year
@@slidingcatch Thanks for the props! I don't work in television, just have an obsession with the details as an analytical scientist in my day job. The series indeed was a stinker, but IMO that didn't mean this tribute to Tatum, Brown, Horford and White needed to be as well -- and after they went up 3-0, ABC needed to start producing something like the 2015 one (first Dubs championship in 40 years), shown below:

@@slidingcatch Also, the splash screen at the very very end is an absolute must... click to 3:24 of the below... the last piece of these montages absolutely need to show the logo of the winning team in gold next to the LOB trophy, plus the "20XX NBA Champions"... that's what gets etched into my brain's history book as I look/think back on the winners.
