@vicefulder Imagine not being able to tell the difference between a fictional cartoon character and a real life human being. Do you also believe in crazy teachers who spaz out whenever they mention fairies?
When I was 16 there was someone much older than me that I really liked. He was about 42. He was always kind and patient with me. The feelings were not returned of course, but I had a feeling he knew; yet he treated me fairly all the same. When I told my friends about it, a lot of them weren't very nice about it. I got laughed at, judged. These kind of crushes are often mocked at, or stereotyped or heavily sexualized in fictional tropes. They would always say to me, "Why not like a younger guy, why not someone your age, why not someone who is more good-looking?" But you can't control who you like, right? When I was 18, I was dating someone else around my age. I remember finding this manga, reading it, and when I got to the scene where she was pondering on why she liked him, I genuinely cried. It was the first manga that took such feelings so seriously, one that I could resonate with. I felt seen, understood. I felt like I was not abnormal anymore. That's all I ever wanted, that's all I ever asked for. Even thinking about it now, it still makes me teary. It's a good story, realistic and in a way, refreshingly bittersweet. Do give it a chance.
Yes but not controlling who you love doesn't make all love okay like pedos. As long as your 18 with others above 18 it's fine. (This isnt just lawful but both parties can make consent with a near fully developed and therefore far more rational and less hormone pumped brain.) Also it is a bit abnormal you should accept that. Of course abnormal doesn't mean its wrong, most "abnormalities" are what make people unique. Besides, most mature people wouldn't care if your into old dudes. But you probably shouldn't listen to me since I've never really wanted myself to in line with average people.
I'm sorry some friends weren't nice to you about this. But I'm glad this manga helped you a lot and allowed you to look into yourself, instead of demonizing yourself further. I hope you're doing better.
Um they were not being mean they were trying to protect you. Seriously why would anyone ignore or justify the fact that a young child is in love with an adult
For those learning about mani/pedicure, mani comes from manus and pedi from pedis. Similar words are "manuscript" - written by hand, "manual" - used or done by hand, and "manufacture". Pedestrian - foot traffic, pedestal - actual from pous which means foot but close enough. Aka how I figured out and remembered the difference between the two.

Despite this being an anime and probably this scene being just fan service to some weirdos, it really shows how we're raised to worry about stuff men really don't care about. Now there's a wave of "I do things for myself and not for others" , I do my makeup for myself, not for men, etc. And I think that's one of the best thing we can teach kids from now on. Years later, when I was 16 a guy friend asked me "hey... Do you like, not grow hair or did you laser it or something? I've never seen you with hair. Not even on your arms" It was shocking to hear that a guy wouldn't find it gross, instead he found it unnatural that I DIDN'T have hair and it was a relief. In this case it's body hair or a pedicure, but we really are self conscious about if our underwear matches, if our hair is too poofy or too flat, does this color palette match my skin, am I sitting right, am I chewing quietly enough, is my laugh too loud...
