When they showed Penguin spitting as he was bullshitting to keep from getting shot at the beginning, I immediately thought the show was pivoting to Penguin being the villain and not the anti-hero of the show. Did we get bait and switched? I'm actually asking.. not rhetorical 🤔
Saying the Penguin is the villain would mean that you think there is a Hero in the story when in reality there isn't. All the major caracters in the story (Vic, OZ, Sophia) have tragic pasts that molded or are currently molding them into power hungry monsters. Looking for either a better life, respect/admiration, vengence/control. It's a show about ONLY villains that are fighting each other to end up on top. No antivillain or Hero here.
Also love the parallels of different characters creating other characters throughout this show. That's very "Batman" in its own way. That yellow dress at the end was Sofia's villain costume lol. Love the transformation.
There's also Alberto.... It's not hard to realize, how and WHY he got lost in drugs and alcohol.. What happened to his sister, broke him (where I imagine, he struggled already 'cause of the gruesome family business, weighing down on him) But yes, Sofia in this? Amazing
That was the first thing that crossed my mind was the only reason Penguin would ditch Sophia is if she found out about her brother. I was thinking the same thing when Sophia started bringing up her mom to her dad that something was off and that what made things go wrong for her. If Sophia hadn't been mean to Peguin in the car when he was concerned about her he might not have said anything to her father later. She kind of set her own self up for what happened with Arkham. If she had checked things out on her own and used people that were loyal to her and not her father things might have went differently. Everything she was doing was making things worse and worse for her. I knew every time she was getting a new setup in Arkham and was yelling at the screen "Don't do it, It's a setup" and she did it anyway. Killing Magpie because you got screwed over wasn't a good idea. You don't make moves like that unless you've planned out how to not get backlash on yourself. I would've kept my cool and not done anything that was going to get me in more trouble unless it was a life or death situation. Play it smart not like a dumbass. However, she got that payback so I was happy about that because her family did her completely dirty. This show really is great to watch and looking forward to the next one. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌ out.
Someone ratted her out before Oz. The only other person who knew she was asking strange questions was Alberto. Summer was dead the night Oz talked to Carmine and Sophia got arrested.
Oz said last episode. I dont regret telling your father about u talking to the reporter. But i didnt know he was going to go as far as sending you to Arkham
The reporter tells Sophia she “should be doing more”, like Bella Real said to Bruce in The Batman. “I think could be doing more ..” the parallels with Bruce and Sophia is staggering. But, like Sophia stated this ep, if you have a ween you are more likely to succeed. 😞
As someone who's aunt was admitted into a psychiatric facility when I was like, 5, this episode was the hardest episode of television I have ever watched. And yes, shock therapy is still used because some people (such as my aunt) actually do need it as a way to help them. But it does horrible things to people who don't need it, as it does alter the way the brain is wired. My aunt in my memory is always the same but I recall a glimpse of what she was like before, she was alive and hyperactive, nothing like how she is today. Btw if you're wondering, she is fine now. She takes medication and is treated with a shrink but she is a functioning member of society by now. Just extremely different.
I hate to correct anyone...but its Cristin...not Cristina. I'm saying this because my name is Kristina...and she's Cristin....idk I just wanted to mention that. Ok anyways i loved this episode, by far my favorite episode so far and I loved both of your reactions! 💜
I loved this episode, but it also reminded me of a film I’d recently seen. It’s called ‘Ek Hasina Thi” and genuinely makes me want to see these incredible directors work together some day. (Jaby might recall the director of Ek Hasina Thi, since he directed Andhadhun as well)
That dress was specifically her embracing what happened to her. Definitely intentional that she let them see her scars, which she has been hiding before, at the last supper.
A lot of people already mentioned Magpie, but Dr. Ventris is also a fairly obscure Batman villain known as Mirror Man. He was just a regular criminal with a mirror obsession in the comics, though, rather than a doctor at Arkham or a mob affiliate.
I've met people who have been committed and gotten shock therapy. One of them told me he came to enjoy it was like wiping his memory and let him forget the trauma of being committed while being committed. He had the gnarliest scars on his wrists from his suicide attempt like. Mental hospitals are scary
it was an incredible episode but Cortney, u can't say u didn't miss Oz cause I missed him! Cristin Milioti does a phenomenal job! can't wait for next one!
This episode was the most Gotham related episode of the season.. its one of those playback appreciated episodes.... I think it was the way Sofia dismissed Penguin when he tried to warn her was the tipping point..
I feel horrible for Sofia and I’m glad that she grew stronger from it but she still comes from money. Oz comes from the gutter I’m with him in this story 👑 🐧
This universe. Think about this… BATMAN knowingly knows they are going to send people to Arkham where they are going to be tortured. He definitely knows what goes on in Arkham. He sends them there by proxy to give him someone to play out his bat fantasies with when they escape.
They do shock treatment still, but apparently it's fringe and something that the patient needs to seek out because not many doctors still do it. They are not forcing it in hospitals or anything like they use to. I actually knew someone who got it to try and treat their depression about 10 years ago,
There is a chance there is another Magpie out there because in some DC universes there are two of them. One will die but the next one will replace her. I doubt Matt Reeves will kill off the character just like that though. I could see the new Magpie fight Catwoman later in the Matt Reeves universe since both are thieves.
So much was revealed in this episode We find out What Oz did to betray Sofia And how she ended up in Arkham Asylum and how she got framed for the murders and got called the Hangman. No matter what Sofia does it's hard to hate her because you see what they did to this sweet girl and how they turned her into the person she is now.
I was aware of Alberto Falcone due to the game Batman:Arkham Origins...as he was tied and bruised by The Penguin in it.. and Sofia due to Gotham series.. but after this ep, looked deeper in the comics.. Its right during Year Two Batman...that she is present the most. And how it all turned out..I read it all. Gotham and Comics did the same to close the chapter.. but this show is doing The Hangman part of the comics. ~she kills her brother as well..but anyways.
Definitely Best Episode by Far..But This just makes me want an Arkham series even more!, by the way Magpie was a Villian in the Batman comics so that was a nice little easter egg..curious to see if we will get any more villians make an appearance?..Where is "The Batman"? In the present time..Do you think that Bruce Wayne will make an appearance instead.. I think he will make a large charitable donation to help the city and that will put him on Oz's Radar..Making Bruce Wayne a Target for the 2nd movie..just a theory obviously. 🤔🌂
One the the reporter Gleeson said to Sofia, was that she felt like “she could be doing more” And Bella Réal says that to Bruce Wayne in The Batman. Is the murder of Gleeson also a foreshadowing for Bella’s character? I like Bella too, I hope they go in a different direction when it comes time for Batman 2
The complexity of this episode was just masterful writing. The change in perspective was wild. This show has enhanced The Batman so much.

@@cjmk5923 I never said she was a hero. But when Gia finds out what her mom did to Sofia, betraying her that badly, she will understand in time. She may not accept it, but she will understand.
@@thedarkknight2221 Her own Mother > A woman she has know about for max 2 weeks and meet 3 times on screen so far. 😂
I guess making a kid laught with a meatball in her mouth will totally make her see Sophia as in the right and not as her Mother/family murderer.
Guia will get it when Sophia says "it was for her own good". 😂
She really does deserve an Emmy
Its fascinating to me how Oz somehow wound up being second-fiddle on his own show - that goes for the acting, the character - the whole thing.
I love that we’re witnessing the extinction of the falcones, leading into Oswald’s era. I hope Black Mask turns up too
Cristin’s range just in this one episode. Damn.
This reaction was like a guessing game of who will call what happens next lol
This episode had me on an emotional roller coaster man. BRAVO
There's also Alberto....
It's not hard to realize, how and WHY he got lost in drugs and alcohol..
What happened to his sister, broke him (where I imagine, he struggled already 'cause of the gruesome family business, weighing down on him)
But yes, Sofia in this? Amazing
how do you guys not get that drug they give to her is the bliss drug in episode 3 , they even said that in episode 3
This episode is very messed up!
The ending...holy Shit!😮
Felt very Breaking Bad, and I loved it.
14:10
Julian Rush: Get some rest.
Cortney: HOW YOU SUPPOSED TO REST??
Jaby:🤗There's a bed there🤔
Cortney: 😒🙄Shut up😡
Love the meta banter😆
ep 4 was fantastic!
Her Finger Prints Are On The Fork... AHH DAMN!!! AH DAMN!!... LOL 🤣
This show is the best show I've seen all year
I'm pretty sure that asylum candy was what is now Bliss.
Yeah Cristin totally deserves the Emmy nomination, she's top notch!
100 percent it was homage to Requiem. Incredible
Not just the planning of the gassing, but that she made sure Gia was with her and safe. And Viti's window was open, so he would be left.
Peaks After peaks...
The reporter tells Sophia she “should be doing more”, like Bella Real said to Bruce in The Batman.
“I think could be doing more ..”
the parallels with Bruce and Sophia is staggering.
You know it takes real talent for someone to outshine Colin Farrel, but goddamn Cristin did it!
Just all the emmys!
You always worry when minor character from the comics shows up.
Magpie died quicker than a real magpie.
You two are becoming my fav reactors to this series! Keep up the great work! 👍🏾
I've met people who have been committed and gotten shock therapy. One of them told me he came to enjoy it was like wiping his memory and let him forget the trauma of being committed while being committed. He had the gnarliest scars on his wrists from his suicide attempt like. Mental hospitals are scary
Last week when she said "I'm not the Hangman!" I was like "Oh my God! That monster locked her in Arkham for ten years and broke her!"
Damn this show is amazing
Oz works for Carmine.
He HAS to tell him.
Jaby's so invested! 😂
The fact that vitti is alive amazes me but it makes Sense 😂😂
it was an incredible episode but Cortney, u can't say u didn't miss Oz cause I missed him! Cristin Milioti does a phenomenal job! can't wait for next one!
Juice! Sons of anarchy in the building
He's 100% scarecrow.
This episode was the most Gotham related episode of the season.. its one of those playback appreciated episodes....
I think it was the way Sofia dismissed Penguin when he tried to warn her was the tipping point..
this has me kinda sad, becasue for the penguin to become the penguin he has to win, meaning sophia has to lose
Can't believe she's gonna work with Vitti 😭
I feel horrible for Sofia and I’m glad that she grew stronger from it but she still comes from money. Oz comes from the gutter I’m with him in this story 👑 🐧
I think people are also forgetting how Catwoman's mother was killed in The Batman...
Best episode so far. Sophia has stolen the show.
This show is even better than Batman movies !!
This universe. Think about this…
BATMAN knowingly knows they are going to send people to Arkham where they are going to be tortured. He definitely knows what goes on in Arkham. He sends them there by proxy to give him someone to play out his bat fantasies with when they escape.
Guys, watch The Penguin again in Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman.
They do shock treatment still, but apparently it's fringe and something that the patient needs to seek out because not many doctors still do it. They are not forcing it in hospitals or anything like they use to. I actually knew someone who got it to try and treat their depression about 10 years ago,
So many TV queens this year😭
There is a chance there is another Magpie out there because in some DC universes there are two of them.
Was the Arkham doctor the same guy who was her therapist/doctor in one of the previous episodes?
Yes. The doctor she called after she escaped was the one with the red light. And the one more directly "treating" her in Arkham.
Yes they do ECT, but it is way more controlled and less used.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😊
THIS Sophia would make a great Huntress, the Helena Bertinelli, daughter of the mob version.
Mark Strong was awesome in a series called Low Winter Sun
He strangled Selina Kyle’s mother as well as Annika, revealed in The Batman.
Her acting is second to Antony Starr as Homelander
One the the reporter Gleeson said to Sofia, was that she felt like “she could be doing more”
And Bella Réal says that to Bruce Wayne in The Batman. Is the murder of Gleeson also a foreshadowing for Bella’s character?
I like Bella too, I hope they go in a different direction when it comes time for Batman 2
