i’ve only started getting into dac (like, today), but I’ve been following third age total for like 8 years now, and Dale has always been one of my favorite factions. In those years, the game has become Reforged and a lot of units were taken out, but it’s so nostalgic to see them here again, like the basic dalian swordsmen or the rhovanion gardraghts (lord help me with that name lol 😂)
Ahh Dale. Perfect tutorial faction for teaching people how to min/max economy. I have different take on some parts of Dale rosters: - Northmen Archers - I would take them any day over Gondor Militia Archers. Worse accuracy can be patched through experience. Having less models per unit and being more expensive less so. That said given how fantastic Longbows are I advice against taking them, - Northmen Militia and Rivermen - perfect option for archer nation. You are never getting shot at as Dale with Athala Rangers (if you are then you did goof up on strategy map) so having access to units who can charge well and deal with problem targets (armor) is premium, - Dalian Swordsmen - not bad unit per se but outshined by every other option being better. Halberds both kill more and hold better, Gadrauchts are more arrow resilient (if you need it but you don't) and better against Cavalry. Heck - later your archers make for better frontline given their line-infantry characteristic, - Dalian Billmen - one of best picks. They are crazy if you have at least 2 of them and familiarised yourself with how to micromanage "pikes" in M2TW. Not only that but later you can mix them with pikes or better halberds. They punch way above their weight, - Lake-town Pikemen - for as good as they look they are not so impressive. Harad can get similar quality Pikes easier, and Dale doesn't really need better armor on Pikes given range superiority. Pikes are still useful and having both pikes and halberds in roster is premium option. Previously I would not take them over Farmhands but now this is the only pike option, Initially Dale has to rely on Archers, before it is the only option for killing DG before turn 30 without ruining economy. Later you can just shot everything starting from most squishy targets as enemy tries to catch your skirmishers before tiring itself out and arriving outnumbered towards your AP melee units. Given how much ranged units this faction can pump out from single settlement there is little difficulty in assembling almost full ranged armies.

The Barding Hird remind me of the the Russian units from vanilla med2, plus their weapon looks very much like a bardiche such as the ones carried by Streltsy
Playing a Dale campaign right now! About 30 turns in and the economy definitely starts rough, but if you just focus on economic buildings the first 20 or so turns it balances out fine.
Northman Archers have +10 meter range but -5% movement speed over Anduin's Vale Archers, so they're more or less twins. The Northman Archers typically see less use however as Dale can start pumping out their (surprisingly affordable!) Longbowmen right out of the gate from Dale and Esgaroth. Still as "trash" units go they're one of the better ones, 3 Att 160 Range is nothing to scoff at for their cost and avaiability. Edit: I could be wrong here but it appears that the AoR restriction on Aihowthiuda Horseguards was lifted for v5; looks like you can just get them anywhere from the T2 Stables. I like them, they're a pretty unique and versatile unit, so that's nice.
Burh comes from anglo-saxon meaning a fortified dwelling or fort. Something like a precursor to castles and so forth.
Akin to Burg or Berg in German.
i thought you wrote bruh
@@tspoon772 almost 😅
yet they look exactly like mb2 cataphracts
"Burg" is very common in modern English speaking towns too. Pittsburgh, Williamsburg etc...
Just a few overviews in & you have made these a really clean, professional experience. Thanks so much for doing these dude!
Dale is one of my favorite factions.
Keep it up, Sir! I love your faction overviews.

Allegiance=swearing fealty to a sovereign or cause, alliance=two or more parties who decide to work together be it militarily or economicly.
Dale's third tier units could really use a visual upgrade, they haven't changed since vanilla total war
I'd always wished that they had gotten the sort of armour the upgraded bodyguards get. It's super pretty but really underused imo.
@@feelingpine9123 Indeed, Hopefully a future unit upgrade will incorporate the dwarven armor style somehow

Galu always said that Gondor was always the base for units/unit levels then every other faction was based of them.

Tip for everyone that likes visual upgrades.
The barding marksmen, the rhovanions, all "dale" units except masters i believe, get visual upgrades 😅

May I ask about the Dale overhaul in version 6 ? Any preview or general info about it ?
great video.
They shouldve left it as the woodland scouts, those elven archers are great
The sentinels are useless for Dale which has the best archers. In Third age mod, the elves constantly threatened my borders, it was annoying AF
So, I assume making script of only allowing the player to build Level 3 guilds is impossible?
Also, isn't Dol Guldur after Dol Amroth or are they going by different name?
Yes Dol Guldur will be after Amroth. I pulled the order from the top of my head without thinking again
