Wonderful video of the Big Paul. This was the first thousand-foot laker I ever saw, and it was completely unplanned. My son and I were eating lunch in the Soo, and it just happened to go through the locks right in front of us.
Seems like they would get that Light House painted and fence it off so people can’t get in there and paint stuff all over it? Beautiful entrance to the Harbor😊
These large ships often get scraped up when going through the Soo Locks. The width of the lock is 110 ft while the Paul R Tregurtha is 105 ft wide. There's a 21 foot drop in water level between Lake Superior and the others, so you see large "scratches" on the sides as the ship moves up or down when passing into or out of Lake Superior.
