Just followed this entire itinerary day by day and it was PERFECT. I highly recommend anyone watching this to follow his guide. It's incredibly well done and flows perfectly.
@@WondererFree wow that means so much to me!!! I’m so happy that you followed my itinerary and it gave you a good experience. Thanks for letting me know 😁
very interesting format of this vlog, love how you connect the talking with actual footage from the place 😍 such a useful and rich guide! safe travels, 💛
So glad you made this video- what a helpful resource it is! Proof that you can save money (on a rental car) and still have a great vacation. I've heard Honolulu has very rush hour bad traffic as well. Something to consider for future tourists
Thank you very much, I do think you can make any location a budget friendly vacation that will be an amazing trip! And yeah Oahu can be wonderful for a road trip and also pretty terrible for traffic
That's amazing to hear, thanks for checking out the video! If you want to see more vegan places, I made an entire video dedicated to showing all the vegan places I recommend on Oahu. Have a great trip!
Day 4 seems like big stretch with out a car. Especially the botanical garden. And I’m pretty sure you were in a car filming at the farmers market 😆.Fun itinerary. Ps Don Quixote rules! And yes, Hawaii is a bit different than Idaho. That was my fav quote from this vlog 😆
We have done day 4 without a car, and it honestly worked out just fine. But we were on the bus for a long time. And you are right, we did go to the farmers market in a car one time, so I used that footage, but we have visited the farmers market using the bus as well. And glad you liked my Idaho comparison hahaha
Heading to Waikiki next week. I've been doing lots of research, but ur video was my favorite. We don't plan to rent a car for the whole stay maybe for just 1 day? Thanks again for this great video. Ps i'm vegetarian and appreciated the plant based options u included 🙌
Thanks so much, I hope you have a great trip to Hawaii! And that sounds like a great idea, I would definitely recommend renting a car to visit some areas in the north shore, or maybe farther up the east shore. I actually made an entire vegan guide for Oahu Hawaii, so that might be of interest to you as well. Again, I hope you have an amazing trip :)
Thank you very much for your job and effort. Hopefully I´ll be there in July. I´m planning to use your itinerary and now I know that it will cost an arm and a leg. Hawaii is very expensive place, especially for someone from the Czech republic like me. Staying at hotel is not an option, I try to use Airbnb if possible. I have already had an experience with that service and prices are reasonable.
great video, definitly a lot of good tips, Thank you, Any ideas, where we could experience the Hawaiian dancers ??, Love to go see a show , we are planning our trip, first timers, a bit older than you, LOL , 1st week of February 2025. Thank you.
Thank you! And I believe that the Polynesia Cultural Center has the dancers. I'm sure there are other places that have them too, but I'm honestly not too sure where they are. Have a great trip!
Thanks so much!! For the last Day (in Waikiki) -- are there any places you recommend that can store our luggage? We dont fly out until the evening -- so my plan is to just stroll around the area (without heavy luggage's)
@@overjoyedstudios no problem! And that’s a great question, I’m honestly not too sure - you could ask your hotel if they could hold your bags I suppose
Great video.. Thank. I will be there for a week and really didn't want to rent a car because it is so expensive to park it at my hotel. One question what was the name of the blowup seat your friend was sitting on at Lanakai Beach?
Thanks a lot! And I totally understand that. And that blow up seat is called “mockins”, you have to hold it up and pull it against the wind to trap the air, and then close it. It’s super convenient to have in the outdoors!
I walked from waikiki to diamondhead it is farther than you think especially if it is humid. After going up and down diamondhead I took the bus back to Waikiki.
You could do it if it was a cooler than normal day but if it is a normal warm day in Hawaii I would recommend taking the bus to diamondhead and hiking up and down.
Nice information including some places that other videos did not cover. I’m not sure why you included surfing into the not budget friendly section at the end. Surfing isn’t expensive and is a lot of fun. Only one complaint about the video was some butchering of the location names. I don’t know why but it has always been important to me to get names correct.
Thanks, and I guess my point with surfing is that surf lessons are expensive - I'm sure like myself, many people going to Hawaii have no idea how to surf so getting started can be a bit pricey.
Nice tips! how expensive is the city bus? Is it like most places where it's flat rate per ride? I'm going to Oahu on the way to Japan and will only have like 2-3 days. I am thinking of not renting a car but I'd be afraid the bus will take to long to make the most of my time.
Thanks! A single fare now costs $3. That’s exciting, I’m also going back to Japan soon and I would love to stop by Oahu haha! And I guess it depends on how much you wanna see or do, a car will definitely make better use of a few days, but you could easily still have adventure packed days if you are willing to spend a good amount of time on the bus
Wow! Thanks for sharing this. I am lookong forward for my trip soon. I saw you were flying your drone. I have a DJI mini 2 was wondering if these places you mentioned are strict and need licensing?
No problem! And no, none of the places I flew my drone at were particularly strict, except for maybe Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden (I just found a quieter area of the park and used it there in early evening). Have a great trip!
So actually sometimes sushi can be vegan, which is really cool - also, the amazing thing about the world we live in today is that many meals/dishes can be made into vegan versions! For example I can eat vegan burgers, vegan “eggs”, vegan “chicken”, and so on.
@@KentKiner-dt5rp it honestly depends - I think the worst is missing out on an experience you want because of money. If I want to experience beautiful nature, adventure, and delicious food, I can usually do that with a tight budget. If I want to experience a nice rental car, a luxurious resort, and fancy meals, I almost certainly cannot
The best video about 1 week without a car. Thank you. I am planning to go in Jan 2024. I am planning to follow your footsteps
Thanks so much! I hope you have a great trip, the weather will be amazing too I hope!

Car rental is not expensive, parking is. We paid like 50$ per night in Waikiki Hotels.

Thanks for the feedback, I certainly try to say the names correct but I'm sure there's room for improvement
Wow we never been Hawaii
I highly recommend visiting someday if possible!
Did you experience bus delays? If so, how long does bus delays usually took. I’ve heard it could took to an hour. Is this true? Tnx 🙏
I don’t think we experienced any major bus delays - we would always just frequently check Google maps to be updated on the buses schedule.
I’m going enroute to Japan… thinking Okinawa would have been a better choice.
Oh nice - maybe Okinawa would be easier, but Oahu certainly seems more beautiful if you are into nature/hikes/rugged beaches!
does the bus go to north shore
It does, but it takes quite a long time

the bus costs how much????? i must've missed that.
