    Although the lighting ideas in this video can be used for any sort of shoot, I think they're nicely suited to live music sessions - often with shoots like these, especially when you're working on a budget, you may have to be quick on your feet and decide what to do with your lighting there and then. Adapting to and utilising your environment to make use of what you have is an important thing to develop when shooting anything. You might not always even get a "perfect" look this way, but it'll better prepare you for these sorts of situations in future and improve how you tackle them.

    establishing the look in a wide shot with the sun shooting through the window then matching that in the tighter shots is such good advice.

      It's because most people search for stupid transition b-roll videos than lighting techniques.

    I absolutely love this content, I was wondering if it would be possible to get a tutorial on one light setups, it's usually how I shoot due to budgeting reasons and I would love to see your input on it.

    Nice! Using a large soft bounce for the key was smart, especially so you could get multiple angles and be free to move with the camera.

    Beautiful setups! Personally, I am not a fan of shining lights into the camera. It just distracts from the talent, IMHO. But overall, the images just look rich and satisfying.

    What was your white balance set at during this shoot when using both tungsten and daylight balanced lights? What's your recommendation for achieving an acceptable white balance when using daylight and tungsten lights in the same shot?

    Do you trust using the red heads? I've had a couple explode and don't necessarily like them but they output such nice light/ amount of light and look great in the shot. Led panels I find look a bit silly when in shot and don't pump out nearly as much light. Hard to find a good alternative for a budget price.

    • @xLightcrystalx
      @xLightcrystalx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fluorescents are the best low budget alternative. Just get one of those cheap photo and video lights on ebay and buy 4 or 6 (depending on the model you have) fluorescent bulbs for 150watts each. Thats alot of output. Yea yea I know the cri csi the fbi the color is not as pure or whatever. If you white balance right it's the same thing.
      If you need to mix them with the sun youll need to get minus green gels probably. But Ive done it before without them youll just need to do some color corecting.
