  • Here is my first-look review of Samurai 360, the "knife that rolls." I found that it works better on some types of food than others. (Sorry, but the 2¢ Chicks had to remove their review!)

      C.H. Delivery well... it did rather mangle the pepperoni though... it could replace a really crappy pizza cutter 🤦🏾‍♀️

      Made in Shenzhen they all can pretty much do that, just put the pepperoni back in place.

      That’s what these ads do a lot of the time, they pre-cook vegetables to make a cheap product look amazing in the commercials.

    Problem with that thing is it's like pressing a knife through food (crushing) instead of drawing it through food (slicing). You'll never get good clean cuts that way.

  • @quintinstefanski9305

    Reason for the difficulty with the pizza cutter on the brownies is because you had already sliced lengthwise and by the time you got to that final strip there wasn’t enough mass to keep the brownies still

    The cutting board you used for the brownies, was it glass? If it was, it dulled the blade for all your tests afterwards. Might want to check out the edge and see if it is dulled, and hone or resharpen it. Might be a good idea to see if it can be done on one of the sharpeners you reviewed!

      I thought so, too, but based on how slow it was to cut through a carrot, I don't know if it'd be easy to cut off a finger. I did worry I'd easily cut myself, though!

    I'd love to see a side by side of the commercial and the real world tests. It would really add depth to the review. Also show how they wrongly advertise products. I'm pretty sure you could use short clips of the ads as it would fall under fair use. Anyway keep up the awesome reviews!

    I think the problem about cutting similar size slices comes from practicing with the device. Just the same as someone who can handle slicing, dicing, and chopping with a knife tend to be better the more practice they have with using those knives.

  • @sanctuarie5219

    It's usually pretty easy to cut a cooked chicken breast, but difficult to find a way to cut up raw chicken breasts. Often want to cube it up or even slice it to saute' with veggies, etc.
    I notice a lot of different handy-dandy cutters show cutting a cooked chicken breast, but wondering if this would work on a raw one?
    The best way I've found so far, is just using kitchen scissors.

    • @glennpittsley1895
      @glennpittsley1895 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      probably would't. When working with raw meat you really want more of a slicing motion, I recommend a nice long filet knife for that. start with the breast by the handle and pull the knife toward you while apply pressure, if you do it right you should get it in one stroke (no back and forth) Also it helps to throw the meat in the freezer uncovered for 5-10 min firms it up and makes it easier to work with.

    I watched the commercial and I noticed that he held it differently. I think to get more control and easier slicing your hand should be positioned more towards the front so that your index finger is about an inch from the white plastic piece. You are holding it too far back. Try it and see if it works better.

    It appears that someone went to Alaska and saw and Ulu Knife then decided to "improve" it by making the blade roll. Kinda like trying to make a horse faster by gluing wheels to its hooves. If you have never used an ulu knife, they are a bit weird to get used to, but they really work well!

    Tape the blade cover on securely, lay it flat on a piece of cardboard, trace the outline, cutout circle, glue or tape the cutout to one side of this thing. Now it can serve its most useful purpose: a Frisbee! If you are planning a trip to the mountains, BONUS!

  • @hansielategan969

    This popped up on my timeline for some reason. I have one of these - not the same brand, but exact same principle - for about 5 years now and it still works great. You do need to spend some time to learn how to operate it efficiently, e.g. it is easier to cut a tomato with the blade "locked". I find it very efficient, but do have the gripe about the thickness you can cut with the rolling action. Apart from that, it is in everyday use in my household. Cleaning on the model I have is also easier, as you just flip a little tag and it folds open like a book where you ca take the blade out and easily clean the open cover.

      Heh great comment! And yes, some of these products seem to make tasks MORE difficult, while others try to solve a problem that doesn't exist! It can be fun to try them all out, though. Usually the advertising hypes these products up way beyond what they are capable of, raising consumer expectations to a level that is impossible for the product to meet.

    My mom bought one and never used it a while ago. I told her why the heck do you keep buying these gizmos that you spend as much time cleaning them as you do cooking. She's one of those as seen on TVaholics. She's much too old now to even care anymore. I've been going through her stuff now for senior downsizing stuff. Though my one question is how the hell do you sharpen the damn thing? It's going to get dull eventually or is that the catch you keep having to buy new sharp blades from them for it.

    I had a semi-circle sort of elliptical blade that came with a curved cutting board and that was the best cutting instrument I've ever used... sadly the cutting board didn't last but I still have the curved blade and I wish I could get another with that curved board... it went right through most anything even carrots and celery with ease and you just had to rock it back and forth... This looked promising but not so much... Still, think my curved blade would trump that.

      @Herky2012 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe I’m totally ignorant about what goes on inside a washer but isn’t it just hot water and soap? What’s happening inside a washer that’s so harmful to knives?

    • @TheYakisobaNoodle
      @TheYakisobaNoodle 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Brad Moles The water is too hot and probably on the blade too long in a dish washer. You need to wash and dry pretty quick so you dont risk rust damage or ruining the stainless steel. I mean that's my guess though. Plus the blade is super thin and likely more susceptible to rusting because of that.

    • @wandabissell
      @wandabissell 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Washers knock the blade around, and the heat and water can weaken the seal between handle and blade. But its the knocking around by high pressure that can really mess up a blade.
