Hey, I picked up a cheep 50 r6 a couple weeks ago I used an old 16g USB stick to record but it was only recording 90min on a sort of loop constantly. I was hoping for more record time so I got a 64g stick but it didn’t change anything. So I looked into it a bit and read that 16g is the max for this tv so I put the old 16g back in(I think it was bought as old stock only a a couple weeks before I got it).. the tv’s firmware was updated last June 30th so that is up to date; but it has glitched out on me a could times in the past couple days when I tried to rewind a couple min to catch something I missed. By glitched I me when I hit the rewind it just goes blank then starts playing live and the bar on the bottom that shows the channel/info plus the bar showing that the USB is recording.... any idea what this could be? In your opinion even though 90min/16g is the Max record length would a larger USB stick help this? Any idea/thoughts would be helpful!!! God Bless
Hey my tv is a hisense 43A7100F and the settings of PVR and time shifting does not show here does ir have the PVR option or what i need to do to make it available
@@TechFigure that's what I thought as well. I have pushed every red button on that remote and still got nothing. If you do get a menu there is no delete option.... Maybe if I ring hisense they may know (not holding my breath 😞)... Thanks for the reply.
I'll have to update my older "e-motion" TV (with PVR) to a new PVR TV. My older one was fine at transferring to my PC for playback (MPEG-2 TS video) so it looks like there is some variability in which TVs can do that? (file type)
Thank you for sharing this. In which format do Hisense record the video files ? Mp4, mpeg-2, mov.... ? I have an LG smart tv. Unfortunately what I record via LG PVR function can be played only on the LG tv and not on a projector or a PC because it's recorded in a format that can be read only on an LG device.
I bought a JVC LT-40C880 in 2018 and that had a PVR function that recorded to .ts format (like on a DVD) and this was readable on a PC. I was also able to transcode into other formats using Handbrake, for playback on other devices. Unfortunately the damn thing has just died, so now I've got a new Hisense. The Hisense creates .bin files and VLC can't play them unfortunately.
I got a 50'' Hyundai Smart TV but it's not on Android, it's on Linux and I couldn't record yet. I tried with USB Flash Drive and with an External HDD. The TV reads the flash drive and the external HDD if they are in the right format but still, I can't record anything even though it says I can record for up to 200 hours with my 500 GB external HDD. I wonder if I need to download an app or something.. because this is Linux, not Android.
My Samsung Smarthub Tv didn’t have a record button on its remote but I had an older Samsung remote that had a red record button on it and when I had the usb hard drive plugged in and pressed record on the older remote I just got a message saying “Not Available”.
Hi. Interesting video. I bought a U7B yesterday and have been trying to record to hd. All is fine but the way to record a series seems complicated. Like your TV, if you say record more than one episode the TV asks if this is daily, weekly, what time and what day. Is there a simpler series link option like a set top box? Any advice would be appreciated. 😉
@@TechFigure Thank you; that's what I thought. It's an amazing TV for the money. I have a much more costly Samsung in my study but to be honest, I think I prefer the Hisense. It was certainly simpler to get a picture I felt happy with. Keep safe. 😉

I have a SMART TV and can record programs on my USB. However, whilst recording I can't seem to watch another different program. Is there a way without having to purchase a DVD?
No, I'm still dealing with VCR and digitalization. USB capturers don't convince me when it comes to quality of image. Is there a way to record tapes directly into an external Hdisk or pendrive? I'm really tired of video capture software and its many formats, plus philips doesn't cover repairings for hdd3455 recorder, which made it simple easy and allowed me to forget about quality/format :(
The problem with PVR recordings is they are encrypted with DRM so you can't view on any other device. Recording becomes "semi-useless" (bought a new TV? Goodbye all recordings!). What software or tools do we need to download so we can crack the DRM or decrypt the videos per TV model?
@@TechFigure Turns out there are actually some hacking & decryption tools on GitHub for extracting decryption keys from LG & Hisense TV's but sadly you have to self compile & sadly the instructions are written in a way that you need to be an IT guru just to make any sense of it. This kind of "piracy" should be easier by now. Miss the days when you could record a tape then watch on any VCR.
Sure, if one's Hisense (or any other TV) has a record button function on their TV. The later versions (2020) don't have record buttons on their remotes. Yours must be a dated model. No there isn't an option only scheduled which is the red button. There is no record button when the PVR is showing. I'm ripping my hair out how to record from the PVR to my USB.
I've figured it out. Go into PVR go to the programme you want to record then press the timeshare button, the one with a right arrow and down vertical lines. The on the left hand side of screen a video type box comes up, press the record (square symbol at the bottom), then it takes you to the programme set up and just click on PVR with OK. Done!
i have 2 pvr's, one for backup a few years ago. Their remotes have a REC button. One lasted about a year and then i used the backup one which was rarely used and after only a month or so i can't even turn it on/ Something about their remotes it seems. press the wrong button on it and it seems to put them in useless state.
