You should totally read Hamnet, it was my first read this year and I absolutely loved it, and btw, I am now reading Anna Karenina because you inspired me to finally read it.

Backman is fabulous! Kristin Hannah also, especially her historical fiction. Thanks for sharing.

Loved it! I got so many recommendations from your video, and I am grateful that they are books that I don’t normally read at all, which help broaden my horizon. Thank you. Need more of this.

Backman is definitely one of my favorites. And every morning is my all time favorite book. It’s so beautiful and emotional and sweet.
Hamnet is such a beautiful story.

Love this series!! Best bookshefl tour ever made!!! Also, I wanted to thank you l gave another chance to Russian lit because of you. Takes time to get used to but now I'm sooo into it. Guess I didn't start in a good place. Same happened with Dickens. I' m following you and Emma in the bookclub. I must admit I prefer Dickens but reading Tolstoi made me give another chance to other authors such as Dostoievsky. Anyway, thank you. Hugs from Argentina ❤🤗🇦🇷.

Finally found someone who loves reading about the WWII as much as I do. Ever since I read Anne Frank in 2019 when I was 11, I've always been obsessed with reading, researching, watching or anything on the subject.

Oh its so nice that you love Backman! I love him as well and I also loved Beartown. I listened to the audiobook in 2017 and it still impacts me. Gladly I do speak Swedish and got „us against you“ in original. Can‘t wait to read it, I just wait for the right time, because his books are always leaving me so touched and a little sad. A man called Ove is my favorite book of him ☺️

To an "old soul" from a much, much older soul...I recently re-read Helene Hanff's wonderful memoir "84 Charing Cross Road" and was intrigued by her thinking of herself as "...like Miniver Cheevy, I was born too late..." which then of course led me on to reading Edwin Arlington Robinson's delightfully acerbic poem. As E. M. Forster said..."only connect!"

Carolyn, this is such a great bookshelf tour and your explanation of some of the books really inspired me to read more books as I have put some in my TBR list. I’ve recently been inspired by the way you read so many great classic literatures and have found so many great ones to read this year. I’m currently reading Anna Karenina, which I am enjoying every page of it. Thank you so much. I love all your videos on classic literature. This is Chris from Seoul, Korea.

I very much relate to your fawning over Backman. I am currently pregnant with a little boy and I am re-reading 'Things My Son Needs to Know About the World' with extra affection in my heart.

You know how you like not having read one Backman's book.. I like having one Carolyn's video unwatched 😁
I was saving this one, knowing I have a hospital stay ahead. Currently on a hospital bed, worried and tired, but watching this makes me happy. Thank you Carolyn for cheering me up :) Your videos are so comforting :)
(and desperately waiting for a part two:=))

Hello from British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦👍❤️👋 definitely need to look into Vincent Gogh, I know I've read some... I have a reusable shopping bag with Starry night 🌃 on it🥰. PS I got a copy of "The Tailor of Gloucester, lift- the-flap pages. I am reading "The Last Mrs. Summers" by Rhys Bowen. Set in Cornwall.....guess which gothic retelling.....

Thank you for recommending Vincent and Theo, I am really enjoying it. I am taking my time, so they are only teens right now and Vincent just went away from home for the first time. I wanted to know if you watched the movie? It is beautiful and touching, well-acted and it made me cry. I also saw Leonard Nimoy's one man play Vincent years ago, he wrote it and it was also filmed. It is from the perspective of Theo.

After watching this video, I have realized why I have not read Us Against You by fredrik backman: which is that I don't want to look at my bookshelfs and not have a Backman book to read.
If you like backman, I would highly recommend Sir Terry Prachett. Especially Nation, which is for me tied with Man called Ove for my favourite book.

Since you like Leon Uris, and your interested in the Holocaust, you might like Mila 18 and QB VII. They are excellent books that give you an understanding of what happened during the war. my Dad gave me the books when I was a teen, it stayed with me forever.

The Nightingale is a beautiful novel. However, it's also extremely disturbing, going into such horrific detail of what so many people went through in the concentration camps. I loved the book so much I couldn't put it down, but it took me at least 2 weeks to move past the thoughts of sheer horror over what so many innocent people went through. I ended up giving my copy away because of this.
