    Hi Lisa
    The hip joint in BoB is a perfect 3 degree of freedom joint - ie all of the rotational constraints at the joint are released.

    This was linked to in my undergraduate anatomy course! I've done camera tracking before, and some very primitive motion tracking. However, the leaps in technology have already made these tasks quite easy compared to when this video was made. I was wondering if there are any updates on the industry standard for this sort of visualization!
    To add to this, I'd love to do an analysis on the fine muscles of the neck during different music style performances!

      Pokkate Bandidcharoenlert I know of a motion laboratory which produces excellent results using only 6 motion capture cameras, so it is possible. Without knowing the details of your lab, for example its dimensions, 2 cameras on each side of the runway and one at each end is probably a good start. You will have to establish a compromise between spatial resolution and width of view based on the distance of the cameras from the runway.

      Define "so much"?

    • @patricksarell4781
      @patricksarell4781 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks like the original motion capture data nails the feet down beautifully. Once you hang the skeleton in it the feet seem to slide around but I guess that is just to do with the proses of retargeting the data onto the skeleton. Sorry probably a bit of a dumb question - would be an amazingly useful tool for animators to understand body mechanics. The software looks fascinating.

    • @mendip89
      @mendip89  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your great question. You are correct in your observation that feet "sticking" to the floor is not guaranteed but is a function of the accuracy of segment lengths used in the biomechanical model. The mocap shown in this video is all based on optical tracking (some other mendip89 videos use inertial tracking) and hence the location of the root segment (the pelvis) is correct but the location of the end effector (ie the foot) is calculated from joint angles and segmental lengths (both of which are subject to errors). A trial copy of the software can be downloaded from www.BoB-biomechanics.com/trial
