This method of preloading the headset is way better than the subsequent, discontinued version where the preload is done by a tiny mechanism on the OneUp stem. However last week OneUp released an even better thread less system where you preload the headset from the bottom. This by far is the most secure and reliable system as the thread less carrier runs the whole length of the steer tube acting as a star nut. Genius engineering.
Stupid question but having a Co2 capsule is a great idea but, how do you plan on using it without the adapter or does this tool have on? I couldn't see if it did.
I'm interested in purchasing one of these at some point but I've read they only take a tapered steerer is that true, I'm struggling to find any more information thanks.
Your fork is compatible only if the go/no go tool slides into your steerer tube and stops at the first notch. If it goes past the notch, it is not compatible.
@@JohnLaGuardia Turns out my steerer tube is compatible. The top off the tube was milled out at an angle so the go/no go tool fitted in past the first notch, but the inner diameter of the tube met the requirements so it was okay to be threaded. Thanks for your reply anyway!
@@HarryBack Hey! Thanks for that clarifying comment. I did a little more investigation on this and confirmed 0,1,2,3 spoke keys. Much appreciated and thanks for being a part of this community.
I don’t thing the star nut puller is worth it because you can just knock the star nut down the tube and out of the bottom with a big reamer and a persuader.
That does work quite well if you have the tools available. We removed star nuts on two bikes, one the way you describe and one with a star nut puller. The star nut puller was much faster and easier by comparison.
Yes, just installed my EDC using star nut puller, and managed to hire it with tapping tool so it was a bit cheaper. Not value for money though as you only use it once
I heard of someone who purchased one then passed it along to another person for shipping. Then they did the same and so on. I thought that was a cool idea to share it with others. Someone could split the cost with a buddy too or ask to borrow one at a local bike shop. Lots of options for people to offset the cost if needed.
Maybe use a deeper depth of field with your camera, seems like you tried to fix the focus of the camera which isn't a bad idea as long as the dof is enough to avoid the focus issues in your video. Maybe you didn't to keep the background from being too distracting at the expense of good focus. Video content was helpful nonetheless. Thanks.
Hey Dominik. I’m just getting started and learning video production everyday. These videos aren’t perfect and I know that. I’m hoping to add value to people’s lives with what I am sharing. The content quality will increase with time. We all have to start somewhere. Thanks for stopping by.

Their products are very innovative and they are always improving in each iteration. 👍🏻
Thanks!
I wonder how it does on gnarly downhill, does it ever pop out?
It pops in firmly so I have never had any issues, even on the most technical downhill trails.
Nice and useful video, thanks!
You’re welcome. Glad it helped you out and thank you for the comment. 👍🏻
does the tool have an inflator to use with co2 cartridges?
It does not. I would check out this one from Lezyne. amzn.to/3cRkmbW
Keep up the great work!
Thanks, Andrew 😁

Great question. You do have to carry a lightweight adapter with you separately.

Here’s further info on this topic for you. www.oneupcomponents.com/pages/fork-compatibility
What if the go/no go tool fits in your steerer tube but goes past the notch? Is your tube still compatible if this is the case?
Your fork is compatible only if the go/no go tool slides into your steerer tube and stops at the first notch. If it goes past the notch, it is not compatible.

Right on. So glad that will work out for you. Enjoy!
Hi, does it comes with spoke wrench?
It does not come with a spoke wrench. Most likely you wouldn’t need that out on the trails. Happy trails!
@@JohnLaGuardia yes it does, its on the chain tool

My only criticism is that they made the top cap way to soft and strips very easily.
Oh wow. Thanks for that feedback. I haven’t had that experience.
nicee
Thanks for watching. Hope it helps you with a purchase or install. 🤙🏻
Work less, ride more!
♥️ that motto, don’t you?
@@JohnLaGuardia Yes! I might get a little transfer sticker saying ‘Work less, ride more’ and maybe put it on the frame of my Marin 6

Puh, please make sure your cam focus is right.... pretty annoying to watch.

Dominik thinks he’s Steven Spielberg
@@superstar999100 You don't need to be Steven Spielberg to get your cam to focus. Don't you think?
I wonder if he even shoots anymore. Probably just directing at this point. 🤣
@@JohnLaGuardia thats true haha
Does the co2 bottle hit inside the steerer tube while riding?
Thankfully, it does not. Happy trails! 😀
