I appreciate your channel . I been thinking about getting a cooling system. You make a great point the reason why we all need this in GA. Have a great and safe week 🇺🇸🇺🇸☝️☝️😎😎😎👊👍
The bike is one thing to keep cool, But, I built a mister system for my bike. to keep me cool. Had heat exhaustion a few times. The bike can break down but keeping yourself safe is most important.
Always a great watch for the info that we need. Save my 103ho street glide in Texas. Short on the high cost funds for how to still ride and not destroy what keeps me sane.
It takes a combination of modifications to solve the heat problem on air cooled Harleys. I use full synthetic Mobil 1 20w50, S&S oil pump, oil cooler fan, breather bypass, Jim’s Force Flow cylinder head fan on my 2018 Road King. Added an oil dip stick with a gauge on topof it just to check if all that had been effective. Have ridden many days recently in 95+ degree days thanks to an oppressive Southern heat wave this Summer. The highest that I have seen the needle go up to on that guage has been 210 degrees. I’m very happy with the results. My only regrets are that I wish I’d put the gauged oil dip stick on first so that I could have been able to monitor the effect of each modification separately. But I am very happy with the aggregate result 11:31
Tall I love the information shared and experience learned. I have the 2023 ultra limited so I should be good, however I’m picking up a 2003 ultra limited and will definitely keep this in mind
Exactly. They are called Ultras for a reason. Not Good Limiteds. Besides the Streetglide guys add tour packs and lower fairings anyway. Hahaha wanna be Ultra riders.
Man i live around knoxville too, this heat has me thinking about putting and ultracool on my 128 bike. I would love to see some before and after temps. Would you get some oil temp data from your 2023 before and after you install the oil cooler?
Thanks for another great video. I put Harley Davidson oil cooler fans on my Road Glides. This fan might not work as well as the Ultra Cooler but seems to work okay here in Florida
How much better does the ultra work vs getting the Harley fan installed under the stock cooler? Looking for %%. I run a Stage 1. No plans on ever doing a 2. Live in Colorado. Curious to know if adding the Harley oil fan is enough.
I got one installed in Sturgis last year. I ride a 103 SG 2008. I'm in Northern California and rode it there several times. But dang. That bike gies great now!! Huge difference...
I’m gonna be in Sturgis this year they do installs there ? How long did it take ? I’m gonna be out there with my brothers so I highly doubt I’ll have the luxury to hang out for a few hrs to get it done. Gonna see if I can get one in before we leave
it is a solution but an ugly one.. the real problem has always been Harley's air cooled engine design.. That engine should have evolved into a true radiator, liquid cooled engine long ago, especially for the money they are commanding. Thank God the new 2024 models are a step in the right direction. I love my 2022 road glide but I could never install that ugly box on my frame. better to just risk a ticket splitting lanes.. lol. great content though... thanks for sharing.
I completely disagree with you. I have a 23 Roadglide-ST and I put the ultracool oil cooler and filter on my bike and I think it looks good. I’m after performance over looks. Your taking a risk of damaging your motor or shortening its lifespan in the name of looks. I’m also running a 2into1 pipe. No grandpa looking duel pipes coming out 6in. Past the hard bags. I don’t want an all liquid cooled motor on my Harley. I love the looks of the motor and primary which is what most people prefer. I’m not against an all lquid cooled motor as an option on a bagger. Furthermore here in Louisiana my bikes power was being cut in half from overheating all interstate riding or slow country riding in this heat. Since I started running the ultracool fans I don’t have an issue with power loss or overheating. To each their own, but I’m gone to destroy my motor and loss of power to look cool.
It wouldn’t be an air cooled Harley, that has different characteristic that an Indian water cooled. If you want a radiator, plenty of bikes out there. Also plenty of air cooled HD with 100k miles.
Beauty in eye of beholder I have the same ultra cool and love the look to me the non naked ultra cool’s look ugly tall has the naked ultra cool as do I and there’s no big covers around it the naked ones match well with performance builds
@uweyaa I have 99 softail custom with a carburetor and I decide on how rich it is and it runs cool and it's fast enough and I use Castrol 20/50 wt oil. And I like it
I went from 20w 50 Mobil 1 to 20w 60 Red Line. Valve train noise is way less. Also i notice my oil pressure guage reads higher at idle on hot hot days. Just an observation
I had a 2017 LowRiderS with the twin-Cam 110, and the biggest difference I saw in oil Temp reduction was changing to Amsoil 15w-60 100% synthetic Oil. Switch to Amsoil, and you'll see the Temp change for sure.
Whilst in the high of summer, and or riding in stop and go traffic, having the cooler fans running constantly is a good idea, but you need to also appreciate that oil is designed to operate at certain temperatures, and oil that can never reach operating temps can be just as deadly to your engine as overheating oil can be... This is why they design the coolers to 'kick-on' and off at predetermined temperatures.
That's a great question. I put a set on my 20 RGS. They blow a ton of air. But I honestly can't say for certain if they "work". They certainly have to help.
I've considered this however there is no pump so when your engine is stopped after a run, and it continues to run its fans uts only cooling the oil that is trapped in its radiator. Also when you are moving its heat is all over your left leg in its recommended installation
Stop the narrative that cooling the oil is cooling the bike! Harley’s are not oil cooled, they are air cooled!!! You were spot on with the reason to cool the oil to protect your bike.
True true! Obviously oil performance can affect engine heat but it’s not what cools the engine. If the oil is under performing, friction increases and then in turn increases engine temperature. If the engine runs hot, the oil is going to get hot and then it just keeps going back and forth until the oil breaks down and can no longer properly lubricate the engine.
A stage 2 107 is quite pleasing. It still gets excellent fuel economy and down low makes a smile every time. I did change the clutch and springs to handle the torque.
The new WetHead has the Radiator installed where Harley-Davidson had the Oil Cooler. They removed the Oil Cooler for the Radiator. Without the Oil Cooler makes the oil 30-50 degrees hotter. That’s bad.
My old twin cam would cook my leg if the lights were many and long here in Florida... My M8 is like my evo, runs much cooler. I still change every 3k here in florida.
The problem is large displacement cylinders stuffed in a configuration that doesn’t allow airflow. The BMW R18 is 110 cu in and runs nice and cool. They have a 122 cu in the works that will no doubt run cool. Even water cooling a large displacement engine in a bike requires serious engineering.
Fans on the heads cool better than just an oil cooler.like others have said,Harleys are air cooled.not oil cooled.for the money they cost today harley needs to go liquid cooled
Simple answer..... upgrade to a high output oil pump and 60wt oil.... if the average ambient air temperature of your riding area is 80°and up... 60wt oil... maybe an oil cooler if you make long runs through the desert or suffer traffic without the option for lane splitting...
I bought a new Ultra in '04. Still have it and yeah that bike will cook the inside of my leg. But I've never had any engine problems. I just bought a '16 twin cooled Ultra. Watched a dozen videos and read several reports and Y'all got me scared to ride it. Afraid it's going to have a nuclear meltdown unless I drop another $700+ to cool it down.
Easy get a liquid cooled Ultra Limited AKA Geezer Glide. I mean you add a tour pack and lower fairing to your Streetglide anyway. Also you spend less money on the bike in the end. I know the Ultra comes with ugly fog lights. Hello....take them off. Easy fix.
hummmm...how about we just buy a motorcycle with a radiator...you know, like a BMW K1600...heck, I bet the BMW even has more horsepower...just saying for a friend...
Of all the TH-cam channels I watch I think you have the greatest intro
😂 I have to agree with you!👍🏼
That song was smooth 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I appreciate your channel . I been thinking about getting a cooling system. You make a great point the reason why we all need this in GA. Have a great and safe week 🇺🇸🇺🇸☝️☝️😎😎😎👊👍

Do you have a video of your setup? I love in AZ where it's 122° some days. 😢
Always a great watch for the info that we need.
Save my 103ho street glide in Texas. Short on the high cost funds for how to still ride and not destroy what keeps me sane.
Great Video, 2013 Street Glide with a 107 big bore kit. I have the Ultra Cool oil cooler & the Jim’s Force Flow Fan.

Atlanta may be hot, but over here in Arizona, our summer highs always reach 115° or more.
Great information, thank you. Gotta say, your intro is the best out there!
Tall I love the information shared and experience learned. I have the 2023 ultra limited so I should be good, however I’m picking up a 2003 ultra limited and will definitely keep this in mind

Been a subscriber for a while. Thank you for the video. Very informative as usual! Loving the new intro as well. When is the mixtape coming out?! LOL!
Thanks for another great video. I put Harley Davidson oil cooler fans on my Road Glides. This fan might not work as well as the Ultra Cooler but seems to work okay here in Florida

Gonna see if I can get one in before we leave
And do you feel much heat there at your leg
Can you mount this on a bike with hard lowers? I put lowers on my 22 RG Special. Obviously this cannot be mounted where yours is with lowers mounted.
Ultracool has a template on how to cut the lower. Several TH-cam videos on guys doing it.
Can you put a 21” wheel on with a Ohlins suspension with stock fount in on a 2014 street glide or do I need to change out the forks
Excellent video Tall!!! Love your content, advice, and checking out your Harleys!!! John

The 24s might have a better liquid cooling system for the heads. But the oil is still going to bake. No oil cooler unless you add one...
Beauty in eye of beholder I have the same ultra cool and love the look to me the non naked ultra cool’s look ugly tall has the naked ultra cool as do I and there’s no big covers around it the naked ones match well with performance builds
@@freebehindbars8654depends on the Indian. The 111 and 116 are air cooled too.
Great video.., I brought one and will be doing an install video also! Those guys also have excellent customer service.
Amsoil.. best oil you can buy.
I hope!!
@uweyaa I have 99 softail custom with a carburetor and I decide on how rich it is and it runs cool and it's fast enough and I use Castrol 20/50 wt oil. And I like it
Would this be something i would need for a stock sporty 1200?
What pipe is on this bike? Sounds great!
Tall got bars!!!!😂
Nice intro..
I just got a 2024 RG. Should i get this or any type of fan updrades
Same here, I also want to know what to get my ‘24 RG.
Another reason why lane splitting in CA is great don’t have to sit in traffic and overheat your bike 😎
So your time is more important than everyone else
How about a fan blowing between the two cylinders done by Harley? Would this make a huge difference in traffic?
I went from 20w 50 Mobil 1 to 20w 60 Red Line. Valve train noise is way less. Also i notice my oil pressure guage reads higher at idle on hot hot days. Just an observation
Nice video keep up the good work traveling tall
Love your content Tall!!
What brand crash bar is that and where did you get that derby cover? @travelingtall
I had a 2017 LowRiderS with the twin-Cam 110, and the biggest difference I saw in oil Temp reduction was changing to Amsoil 15w-60 100% synthetic Oil. Switch to Amsoil, and you'll see the Temp change for sure.
Motul is better 🤷🏾♂️

That's a great question. I put a set on my 20 RGS. They blow a ton of air. But I honestly can't say for certain if they "work". They certainly have to help.
Great information
I've considered this however there is no pump so when your engine is stopped after a run, and it continues to run its fans uts only cooling the oil that is trapped in its radiator. Also when you are moving its heat is all over your left leg in its recommended installation
How about not revving it up 10 times at every stop sign
Tall, I wish it was only 100*. It's 118 today
Stop the narrative that cooling the oil is cooling the bike! Harley’s are not oil cooled, they are air cooled!!! You were spot on with the reason to cool the oil to protect your bike.
Oil does 3 things; clean, lubricate, cool. especially if they have piston cooler jets/ nozzles
Great advice my friend.
Liquid cool is the only answer, how many cars or trucks are air cooled?
Tall are you running a fan on your lower oil cooler or have you have No need for usage
Great information, it’s a great investment. I put one on my 22 RG
Great information brother!!!
Just picked up a 2020 street glide with the 107. I need to be able to afford a big bore kit
A stage 2 107 is quite pleasing. It still gets excellent fuel economy and down low makes a smile every time. I did change the clutch and springs to handle the torque.

Great idea , its only going t get hotter out there
I luv that street glide tall a
Do the fans blow the hot air on you?
Is the ‘thumbs up’ a yes?? lol
They do not. You can hear the fans when they kick on sometimes. There is zero airflow to the rider.
I wish harley would transition to liquid cooled engines
2024 models street/road glides are liquid cooled now.
May I ask how much hotter your left leg gets compared to your right?
Fans on the heads cool better than just an oil cooler.like others have said,Harleys are air cooled.not oil cooled.for the money they cost today harley needs to go liquid cooled
Never got the fascination with air cooled engines.
Simple answer..... upgrade to a high output oil pump and 60wt oil.... if the average ambient air temperature of your riding area is 80°and up... 60wt oil... maybe an oil cooler if you make long runs through the desert or suffer traffic without the option for lane splitting...
Run the older bikes and replace the engine with an S&S engine and you are good to go
Somebody needs to go ahead and make a billet water cooled cylinder for you big power guys use the water heads
I heard somewhere that synthetic oil keeps your engine about ten degrees cool than conventional oil. Great video and be safe
Great information Tall, check it out i have an order bike and live in the north but we have had some 90 days this year
A 128ci with how much horsepower?!? That must’ve been a very happy dyno!! 😂
I bought a new Ultra in '04. Still have it and yeah that bike will cook the inside of my leg. But I've never had any engine problems. I just bought a '16 twin cooled Ultra. i prefer Royal Purple
👍👍
You a little late to the party with this video my friend. I have one and it’s works very well.
Easy get a liquid cooled Ultra Limited AKA Geezer Glide. I mean you add a tour pack and lower fairing to your Streetglide anyway. Also you spend less money on the bike in the end. I know the Ultra comes with ugly fog lights. Hello....take them off. Easy fix.
So you only running the ultra cool fans
💯
BAD TO THE BONE RIDE ON TAKE CARE,,,
I USE AMSOIL… IS REDLINE BETTER
Give it a try. I'm using RL 20-60 in my Twin Cam. I'm in Vegas where it 116 right now. Thicker oil works wonders...
Yes
Remember harley is the best bike 😅😅
Don't buy a problem
Try arguing that point to a Harley guy 😅😅😅
Salute 🫡
Ride an EVO and save a bike😊
My bike runs at °100 degrees
The only way is not to turn it on. 😂
To much high reving in the intro
Just buy a Honda
hummmm...how about we just buy a motorcycle with a radiator...you know, like a BMW K1600...heck, I bet the BMW even has more horsepower...just saying for a friend...
Park it and buy a Honda
Good looking bike. Those big inchers get smoking hot.
