I bought one new when I was working at my first dealership as a salesman.I wasn't even 19 yet.Mine was a1979 blue w gold pinstripe.I really liked it but I wanted a bike that was quicker handling than my XS11 was so i bought a new black 1980 Z1-R. Turns out the XS11 was faster so i got spanked racing it quite a bit! Oh well still had a hell of a lot of fun anyway lol!
I like the change to the round headlight. I find it a big improvement in the bike's appearance. I've been living with an 11 Special for 20 years. I don't tire of it.
I own a 74 750/4, 54k original miles, KZ 750 LTD running gear/suspension,triple disks, Dyna Ignition etc. with a Pops Yoshimura 4 into 1 header. Looks like the same pipe? What a sweet sound! Music to my ears!
In their days they were considered as SUPERBIKES. Because of their weight, their performance and the way they were to be handled by EXPERIENCED riders. Now, that being said, do you think you could qualify???? If you're serious about riding a bike and do it in a healthy way, try for something more appropriate, like a 500 to 650 cc bike. They perform extremely well and give lots of riding fun. Don't fear big bikes, but show some respect and use your common sense!!!
Those just look prettier every time I see one. I have the '82 XJ1100J Maxim which is essentially the same machine but with the YICS addition. Resurrecting it finally after far too many years, about to install braided steel brake lines and either rebuild the calipers again or replace them. If the front caliper drags one more time I will consider all new custom NISSIN 6 pot calipers all around and I will customer fabricate all the brackets to mount them!
A monster of style performance and customization Those classic bikes are so rare in Italy A dream

That was a great year for Japanese bikes.
Cek out the Australian Castrol 6 Hour production race .. XS1100 with its bulk & shaft drive cleaned up all the others on a tight track at Amaroo Park.

Sweet bike. They're screamers. I had a 79 that was modified, Kerker 4 into 1 exhaust and a lot of engine mods. The thing would fly.
Old sports bike's are the best love mine front and rear sprocket changed she my 82 GS750 walks off on my bros 94 cbr600
Nice to see I have one just like that in my back yard.
This was one of my dream bikes. Love it.
Nothing like a old school sports bike gotta love em miss my gs750 and gl1100

In New Zealand we called them a YAMAHA 1•1 They were bullet proof.
Sounds great! Runs without any rattles or valve noise. That curved lens on the camera makes the forks look bent, lol.
And the XS11 will run and keep on running as long as you keep the oil and filter changed.
this was my first bike 1978 , bought it use in 1980 for $3000
Nice bike man
That bike needs some carb tuning. In 1980 I bought a brand new XS1100 Special, oh the stories I could tell....
Second gear was always a weak point tho
Is that a drive shaft drive shaft are good bikes ! From wear and tear from chains and sprockets !
Drive shaft.
What a gorgeous bike. i have one just like it!
Great motorcycle ❤❤
Got to love it.
What pipe did it have? Im getting one this week and this is the sound i want.
Is your ignition coil the original or did you have to buy an aftermarket? I need new ignition coils for mine.
They do nice wheelies.
all the xs1100’s that I see they have the same noise on idling, I wish they were more like CB’s and GS’s….
Nice bike! Still available ?
This one has sold. Thanks!
Needs a proper airbox rather than those AWFUL K and N style filters
good sound cool
I own 2 of these monsters along with a 1998 Suzuki Intruder 1400cc.
If you're using a go pro and you have the max lens, turn on max mode to get rid of that fish eye effect unless that's what you wanted
Carbs sound way out of sync, need a rebuild, that's why its idling rough and wont idle long and dying. My '78 xs1100 idles smooth even cold
👌👌👌
They were quick if you could shift fast enough and they maxed out at not that high of speed because of low gearing.
Shaft drive vs chain drive. Pros/cons!!!!
@@donmacaulay2021 They were all shaft drive.
I've never ridden a motorcycle before.
Would this be a good first bike?
Yea mate , a 40 year old bike weighing over 250 KG’s would be a perfect first bike for you
