G'day and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 boy that brought back some lovely memories I remember buying mine in 1977 it was the same colour, identical to yours. I wish I still had it now I sold it and just about got most of my money back, they are a beautiful bike to ride over long distances anyway thanks for that regards John
There is a kickstarter attached to the frame directly below the airbox, you can access it by removing the wingnut and pulling it towards the front of the bike.
Presentation sounds like a sales pitch. Serious ding in the left side of the air box. 'Hide-away' kick starter is above the rubber covered stud (behind the wing nut).
I had one of these my brother had a 1979 XS1100 special he said he couldn't keep up with me. I think they detuned it a little after the first year. With over 20,000 miles the cams probably need to be resimmed.
Hey welcome to the Lifetime '78 XS1100 Owners Club! The joke in **my** house is, "He can't take it with him, but he's gonna take it as far as he can get it!" 🤣
The mirrors and handlebar grips are not original. But count yourself really, REALLY lucky to have an original exhaust system w/mufflers still in good shape on this bike!
WOW you said you rebuilt the carbs with new kits . Finally a person that did it the right way . So many people try to save money and just clean them . It is not the correct way to go . Also those do not look like the original stock OEM pipes on that bike . The stock ones are mush shorter. I would guess that those are MAC pipes. They are made in California. MAC makes pipes for a lot of vintage motrocycles. I am guessing that is what you have . I have 2 of these bikes. Both of them are 1981 XS1100"s one is the 1100 special and the other one is the 1100 Midnight Special .
@@XS-ry6ig I have two Xs1100 they are Awesome bikes ! Had one back in the 80's. Great bike; still miss it.
Had a 79 Blue. Put a Windjammer, Shoei Bags, Vetter Trunk, 11in. Apehangers, Twist Assist, Am Fm cassette player. Never missed a beat for 92k miles.
This was the bike that made me a Yamaha man for life. It was at one time called the Cruise Missile.
Old school Japper,,, another underated classic.

Yes !
I was gonna say that but you beat me to it! I still have a '78 XS1100 that I bought new at Big Jim's Yamaha in Little Rock, Arkansas!
This looks a lot like the '78 XS-11 that I used to ride. That bike was so powerful and comfy!
I had on back in the 80s as well. Lots of torque and fun to ride.
looks good, sounds great - you are a lucky man.
That's beautiful and my favorite color.
Gregory Timmons Macho Maroon is the color. Had a new one in 78.
@@tigerbeforyou181 I bought a new one in '78 and I STILL HAVE IT!!! 🙂

If the battery is low it won't kick start anyway
He likes the word nice
It's beautiful
Beautiful old bruisers the Eleven,s ;)
Damn that’s cool
In our country, the kickstart lever came under the seat !
Trinidad & Tobago
West Indies.
It's running on three cylinders
Needs to clean and calibrate the carburetors.
I had the tool for that it looked like 4 mercury filled glass tubes with rubber hose's. You tuned 4 to 3 then 2to 3 then 1 to 2
Hola, me parece a mi o realmente el neumático delantero está colocado al revés? Hermosa moto.
My kickstart lever, was attached to the underneath of the seat. Have ya looked, there?
The bike came with the kick start loaded on bike if you needed it.
You would have to be a mule to kick start that beast.
Wow !
Sweet
Nice bike, and neighborhood too. Which state? Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰

Bike matches the Ford Galaxie in the driveway. If I had the money I would try to buy both.
the kick lever is mounted inside frame under air box
My came with a kick lever n its own compartment.
still have mine bought new 1978 xs eleven ,have a hannigen fairing .

Моя мечта Несбыточная
How much are you selling it for?
I'm guessing its for sale ...
How much ..
Or is it gone ...???
Sorry, it's gone...thanks for your interest.
You might want to get that BIG DENT FIXED, on the left side air box chrome !

Dumb a$$, that exhaust is completely original, the SHORT ONES were on the XS1100 SPECIALS
@@jagitmax too bad I only own two of those bikes and I've replaced both the original exhausts.

for sale?
Thank you for your interest. I'm sorry but we sold this bike on eBay.
That bike is not running at its best! does not sound right.
My 1979 says yamaha not yalmahaul.....strange
The Kawasaki Z1 could blow by the Yamaha - no problem
My friend... you are _sorely_ mistaking. ;-)
Loved it - except for the crap looking square headlight and instruments 😬
Get a Special....round headlight and gauges...much better looking
That's 70s styling. I think they're unique.
