  • A view of Ringland shops, the Friendship pub and the famous Ringland octagonal library from the back of my bike before the soon imminent demolition of them all. The shops were built in, I believe, 1966. I was 5 when I moved to Ringland the year later and to me the shops were amazing. There were several fountains, a large clock that to me resembled Big Ben, a sweet shop, toy shop and many more shops selling anything and everything you could possibly wish for. Mccoll's was then called Forbuoys, Greggs was Merritts and the top supermarket was then called Kibbys, there was even a cafe, launderette, small library (before the larger octagonal library was built) and a chippy to die for. There wasn't even a need for high security fencing around the shopping centre back then either as Ringland had their own Police station on Beatty road, Great memories.

I remember the construction of them both as a kid. As Kids we used to play in the sand and bricks during their construction, no Health and safety back then.

@@tonysmith8953 In those days regarded as innocent fun, but nowadays you'd get an ASBO for similar behaviour.
