This is the only time I have seen anything showing the playground on the roof of tredegar Wharf School. Excellent.

Fantastic find ! ( thanks Dennis) I lived down Pill ( Trinity place/Portland st) From 1949 till 1977. Recognized many scenes and people. Wonderful place to be brought up . ( which might shock some people !!) The people we lived with were close and 'the salt of the earth' Three pubs down our Street ! Alex arms, Church house ( across from our house on the corner) and one down the end of the street, can't remember the name. ( two shops as well ! Jimmy Lynchs and Mona Whites !

I loved watching this great film. Brought back so many memories of growing up in Pill. Good memories and sad, taking me back to how I felt when I was told they would be demolishing our house - it was frightening for a child. The community spirit couldn't be beaten. Thank you Dennis.

I love how someone says at 12:24 - 12:28 there are no playing fields in Pill and the camera is looking down Pottery Terrace from the exact point where the playing fields of present day would be developed

Great film. I remember the cattle market and the docks and all the old railway lines. Was born in london but in newport every holiday and moved down when i was 9. Lived in pill 28/29 years from 88. How things had changed then and now. Was looking at all the people for similar features of friends from pill i have 😀

Thank you for a very informative video. I lived in Price Street 1948-54 and the video contained valuable memories, some of which I was glad to leave behind, such as the cockroaches, the outside toilet, tin bath, two other families living in the house, the cold, the damp, the draughts, etc. But the people I knew were great, as was St. Michael's school, Pill Library and even the Plaza Cinema.

Hi Dennis do you know who owns the copyright to the film - or who shot it?
