    I know the 12 year olds here have no idea who Frank is but for us that do, this is the guy that laughed in Bas Ruttens face while Bas was palm striking him repeatedly in Pancrase so that's enough reason to believe this story. Guy's a madman.

      fact! how about when he gave Igor Zenoviev a pile driver K.O.?

    • @indianna.777
      @indianna.777 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      He was no joke. He ended Igor’s career (unfortunately) with a slam. Finished Kevin Jackson and Dan Henderson in less than 20 seconds, both olympic wrestlers.
      Retired undefeated in the UFC…
      Guy is a beast

    man, this dude was one of my earliest MMA inspirations. The first legit MMA fighter. He had it all. The skills, the look, the physique, the mind, the spirit. Doesn't really matter if he ever gets into the UFC hall of fame as long as Dana is alive, because real fans know he belongs there and thats all that matters. He should have been apart of the very first members inducted into the UFC hall of fame. But hey, that's typical politics for ya.

      For post UFC 1 MMA, Marco Ruas gets that title. Frank was great, but Marco had GOOD boxing, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu/luta livre, and FOOT STOMPS. He also won UFC 7 tournament without throwing a single right hand because he came in with it broken, if I recall.

    • @indianna.777
      @indianna.777 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I disagree, as a brazilian btw. The only big names Ruas fought are Taktarov and Maurice Smith… and he got beaten by both. He beat Patrick Smith and Gary Goodridge though, but were kind of mediocre.
      On the other hand we have Frank Shamrock, who trained martial arts for only 6 months and beat Bas Rutten in his MMA debut, in 1994 (Bas only lost 4 times in his entire career btw). He has beaten Jeremy Horn, Kevin Jackson (olympic wrestler), Minoru Suzuki (one of the best MMA fighters of Japan in that era), Enson Inoue (outsized), and an ascending and scary Tito Ortiz (outsized and by TKO).
      Frank retired undefeated in the UFC and vacated his undisputed Middleweight belt (Light Heavyweight by modern standards).

      @@indianna.777 Disagree with what? In 1984, Ruas fought Carlson Gracies toughest student at the time, Pinduka, to a draw, but Ruas beat the hell out of him. Oleg vs Ruas 1 basically 1984 predates UFC 1 by 9 years. That was an embarrassment of a fight, neither fighter did much, Ruas especially Oleg was only given the win because Ruas didnt fight. You must've forgotten about the rematch, Ruas beat Oleg quite badly though the fight was ruled a draw. Frank Shamrock was 12 at the time. Ruas was 210 lbs and very likely would have beaten Royce at UFC 1 had he been invited. Ruas was a complete MMA fighter far before UFC 1. Frank Shamrock isnt even close to the first "complete" MMA fighter.

    • @indianna.777
      @indianna.777 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@greasebob I meant that I disagree with your assumption that Ruas gets the title for first legit M.M.Artist...
      I don't understand how you even think there's an equilibrium between Frank and Ruas. Their levels are much different, in my view.
      Ruas' first UFC bout was in 1995 and he was 1-0-1 at that time, with one win over "Francisco Borges" who retired 0-2, and one draw against "Pinduka" who retired 0-0-1.
      On the other hand, Frank was, at that same time, 5-3-1, with two fights against Bas Rutten (one win, one loss), one win over Minoru Suzuki and one draw against Allan Goes. If you know these names, then you surely know they are no joke.
      Regarding skills, both Ruas and Frank were well rounded. Ruas probably being better at striking and Frank at the ground. But comparing skills gets too much subjective and I prefer to look just at the stats.
      In my view Frank gets the title for "first" because of him being a pioneer at 1994/95 Japan scene, and also the title for "better fighter", because of his better resume and his undefeated retirement in the UFC.

    I remember watching ufc 1 in 1993 and seeing Ken shamrock Frank brother fight his physic was another level and u could see the strength in the man on top of that I then seen Frank fight and was totally amazed by how he had the same look style but actually looked better all round he could do everything the man's a legend a I couldn't belive it when I found out they weren't blood brothers they looked so alike haha. Also alot of people say dan Hendo is the strongest of all time.

    • @indianna.777
      @indianna.777 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Mike-xh9kn Dan Henderson vs Cormier is until this day one of the biggest MMA anomalies. A prime 35 y/o DC against a 43 y/o Hendo, who had just been banned from taking TRT. He fought a prime DC (arguably top 10 MMA fighters ever) with the same testosterone levels as my daughter.
      That fight is NOT a good paradigm to conclude anything, at all.

      @@indianna.777 I agree mate dc was younger had for less miles on the clock and alot bigger I would of liked to of seen him fight Hendo in his prime I feel most fighters in there late 30s early 40s have issues with there legs and I think Hendo at this point was relying on his upper body to do all the work
