    Pretty cool Reno. I like your editing and explanation of what your doing. I'm subscribed and look forward to your vids. I just bought a 76 gmc motorhome that I'm fixing up too. I bought one that I thought was ready to go but looking it over and spending more time with it I'm finding stuff that I want to fix/upgrade. I'm trying to do videos on the improvements also. It helps keep me motivated to finish the job.

      @@getoutgadabout3423 I've been wondering the in a coach with a rear bed could it possible converted to a murphy bed so you get a little more room when not using the bed.

      I don’t think you would have enough clearance without folding the bed due to the generator and propane boxes. The factory water tank is there too remember. My idea is making an adjustable bed that as the back/head section rises the whole bed pulls towards the back wall kinda like a futon making a wide couch. I’m planning a whole “open concept” style interrior.

    Thanks fro all your great video. Gives me confidence about tackling stuff in my 73 (if/when I get it).
    Question: Where the wires run through the frame members is there any sort of factory grommet or padding to keep the wires from contacting the metal and wearing through from vibration over 40+ years? The coach I'm looking at is mostly original and I wonder how much will be involved in making it safe without a full gut and remodel.

      I think the main wires at issue are the alternator wiring that a diode is available for and the battery cable that connects the engine battery to the rear battery. With the booster solenoids. This wire on my coach was bare in spots in the front of the coach. It runs through plastic grommets in the wall framing midway up the drivers side wall on my coach 76 model. This can be disconnected at both ends and a new cable run external on the underside of the coach. I would use a high quality gxl coated wire and possibly run it inside a secondary covering. Good luck with your coach and thanks for watching.

    Some nice work. I noticed that it appears that you have patched some holes in your roof.. Is this temporary if not, how did you patch the holes?

    • @getoutgadabout3423
      @getoutgadabout3423  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Doug, the large holes were covered over with 1/8" aluminum plates and sealed with 3m 8115 body panel adhesive. this Is the glue used to hold together modern cars instead of welding. sealed end rivets were used to hold the plates in place until the adhesive dried. when I start working on the roof they will be ground off and sealed. the 100 or so small screw holes the PO put in the roof were sealed using 3/16 sealed rivets with a drop of seamsealer. now that the foam is removed from the ceiling I may explore another way to seal the small holes.

    Hey Brother, thanks again for such a great video and content. It makes my day when I see you have another video uploaded. Your method of insulation is the best i have seen anywhere. My wife and I get excited watching your weekly installments of GMC upgrades and renovations.
    As you know in Australia they closed all the state borders off so we cant exit or enter another state at present. Our GMC is located in Adelaide and that is over 1000 miles away from Queensland.
    I did post a video on my channel when I went down to purchase it a few months ago.

    I will be saving all your ideas for when they lift the border ban in Australia and heading down to work on my Painted Desert GMC
