Thank you so much for this video! My 82 year old mother purchased a 2014 Altima. When I drove it the other night I discovered the headlights were WAY too low; to the point of being very dangerous (My mom told me she drives with the high beams at night). I bought the long screw driver from Harbor Freight and followed your directions. Boom. Ten minutes later I was done and the car is safe to drive at night.
@@jamesniece5203 Ridiculous. I checked the voltage to the headlights: Fine. I had my regular shop check it: they said electrically they were fine. Man I needed this vid l for the last 2 years. I tried different lights and styles and was about to replace my actual headlight casing because I could barely see at night (very dangerous at times especially with oncoming traffic with brighter lights on narrow roads without reflectors made it worse.) but no one else could drive my car at night without the highbeams on....
Archfapper commented 2 weeks ago that Nissan got sued over these headlamps, I didn't know that, but I had a recall on my 2015 for the issue and just got it back from the dealer. They originally told me when I first took it there for them to inspect to see if I actually had the issue, that not the entire headlight assembly, but only the reflector part of the headlight assembly would be replaced. But when I got it back 3 days ago they had replaced both the entire headlight assemblys. Guess they changed their minds on replacing just the reflectors, probably much easier and less time consuming for them to change the entire assemblys. Thanks for the video. I'm guessing they set the low beams at the legal adjustment, but they're way too low for me. Looks like they're only beaming 30' down the road. I don't want them in anyone's eyes but I like mine adjusted a little higher than that!

James, thanks for the video. I followed your instructions and was able to raise the low beam aiming. Unfortunately, it seems to raise the high beam as well which was perfect before and now lights up the tree tops. I'm thinking of replacing the entire light assembly to an after market one to get some improvement of the dismal factory projector pattern on the low beams

Thanks for the video. The other issue with these models especially the Altima is, The glass that goes in front of the projector housing gets burnt or dirty. Therefore covering the light emitted from the bulbs. I had to replace my headlights housings and that had an improvement. However two years later seems like the replacements are having a similar issue.
Hey man! Thanks.. you are right.. there's no other video but yours.. thanks a bunch! I had an accidental and lamps are not aligned properly, and I was even arguing with the mechanic since he did not now how to do it and I also complained about the hopes that looked like missing some plastic screws or something... But now I see what they are for. You rock!!
Richard Ferguson I appreciate that! It was getting a tad frustrating trying to figure it out. This is the newest car I've ever owned and my first Japanese one. Turns out it was really simple lol so I wanted to share. Anything else I find that people might want to know, I will share that as well.
Good to know. I'd eventually like to replace both my headlights and my fog lamps (i live in a rural area) and i've got a '14 Altima SV. If i'm able to add anything useful i'll definitely post it.
Thank you for sharing this. My 2013 was the first model year with the headlamp delamination issue that was the subject of the Suarez class action settlement. I learned about the settlement too late for free replacement and my dealership wanted $1,600 in parts & labor. I got the headlamp assemblies myself and the labor from a local mechanic for 20% (!) of the dealer quote collectively, but they're not aimed correctly so I'd been searching for a solution.
No I don't have a video on that but standard aiming info is out there somewhere on Google. I know that you need to be level and 25 ft from a wall to do it. How high on the wall I don't remember right now. It's not hard at all. As long as you don't have any front clip damage around your headlights they should be level on the wall. Remember we can only adjust horizontal. Vertical I think requires shimming the assembly. That would suck to have to do. I started out by driving down the road and bringing that screwdriver with me. Pulled over and kept adjusting them equally until I was satisfied.
Thank you for the video, we just went to the dealership in out area this passed Monday and was informed that Nissan made a big change with the 2014 Altima. That in order to adjust the low beams lights the front bumper and radiator had to be removed. We told them to forget it.
Thanks for providing the location of the adjusters; I normally get a service manual for everything I own; but have not gotten one yet for my wife's car. If I remember correctly at 25 feet distance; the beam should strike at 4 feet high on a flat wall; I use reflective tape on my garage door. I am not sure this is a 100% solution for this model; as I took that out of the service manual from another vehicle; but it should be a static standard scale of measure. I have LED's in my Z06 and HID in my RAM, so I put LED's in my wife 2015 Nissan Altima and they were way to low as well; this seems to be the norm from reading the comments on this model and very well maybe the norm for imports; It is the first import ever owned; and definitely not sized for my or the standard american sized ass. thanks again Peace Addendum: By state law: The minimum height from the ground for headlights is 2 feet; the maximum is 4 ½ feet.
Thanks for making the video, it helped me without causing me to spend a whole lot of time trying to figure it out myself, and it's not in the owners manual either.
deadmanwalking I was determined to find out how its supposed to be done. Something that simple anyone that owns a car should be able to do. That long screwdriver saved the day!
You are correct I couldn't find any other videos and after I replaced the bulbs in my daughter's they were way to high and needed to adjust down thanks so much.
Thanks for this video! I have basically the same problem as everyone else in the comments. Low bean too dim, not aligned, always using high beams etc... I was gonna do Doordash tonight but it was raining and the sky was too gloomy. I think we all agree, those are the worst nights to drive, especially with our sucky Altima beams. So I called it a night and made no money. I'm gonna go get that long ass Phillips tomorrow and finally be done with this headache.
Thank you so much. Mine are terrible. Never received the headlight recall. I'm going to try this. Nice I don't have to find someone to help or pay out a bunch of money.

Just replaced both headlights cause of that issue. Had to come back to your video to show me once again how to adjust lights. Thanks for the video.
Thank for this! Life saver! I’ve been recking my brain trying to figure out... “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON AND WHY! I’ve spend sooo much money on lights, seeing various Nissan mechanics and they are clueless and saying... it could be a number of things just pay for various things and suggestions until find the right issue that is wrong. Just this week I have been literally looking for new custom headlights to replace my entire front! I am tired of not being able to see at night and having to blind other driver with my high beams! Thank you soooooo much!
I really do appreciate you for making this video I went crazy thinking my LED lights was bad in couldn’t figure out how to bring them up both lights aim straight towards the ground
THANK YOU!!! I installed the new headlight assemblies last Saturday and knew the bulbs weren't looking right and searched over and over for a video and finally...yours popped up! Thank you so much. I even went and got the same tool from Harbor Freight yesterday lol
Saved me a headache because I just changed the headlights on my wife Nissan just like this and was wondering what the problem was until I saw your video man thinks a lot.
Thanks bro you are right. You have rhe only video on nissan lifht adjustmenrs. I hope you get a million views.
...i'm doing this tomorrow! Thank you! Was tired of waiting on the mechanic ... now I can do it myself!
Thank you so much for making this video! I have been struggling to figure out why my passenger side headlight was messed up. I was on the verge of buying replacement head light assemblies ( $172-$200). You saved me some money!
Man thank you for the heads up. Just installed new headlights and driver side is low. This made my day. Great video.
Hey James thanks alot for the tip on how to aim those lights!! For the life of me I couldn't find that headlight adjustment screw until I saw your video. Damn our cars' engine bays are crammed af.
Thanks a million for posting this! I have a 2017 Pathfinder....the crank was much easier to get to, but I would have had NO idea what to look for without your video! Thanks again!
Appreciate it Bro
Updated the wife’s lights and picked up the tool from Harbor Freight for $8 bucks
Just finished adjusting those lights… appreciate it.. Dumbest design Nissan could’ve EVER came up with…
i appreciate this video. I have looked for a vid on aiming the headlight and all i can ever find involves taking off the tires and accessing it that way. Your shortcut has shed some light. Thanks! Now to try it.
Perfect video! This is exactly what I was looking for, and seems to be the only/best video out there on how to do this. Got the long screwdriver from Lowe's and adjusted the aim on my 2018 Altima, which was way off on one side. Thanks so much man!
I can't find the part to put the screw driver on my 2018 I've looked so many times but can't find it
this is exactly the video i needed to to watch to raise the passenger side headlight, thank you!!!
People like you go to heaven thanks for the help!
super helpful. this saved me a lot of time. who would have guessed it was so simple. THANKS
You rock!!
Thanks for posting this video!!!!!! This helped me aim my light and is the only video I found showing me how to do this
Thank you for uploading this video. I had the same problem on finding info on adjusting the lights.
I appreciate this. Now I understand what the dealer did to my wife's car, trying to convince her she need to replace the entire headlight
Thanks for putting this out there! Always good to have info like this.
Thank you sir, I owe you a beer!
Thank you sir. Been looking online for about an month now. Just found your video. Will give up tonight if it works.
Great vedio , Do u have vedio that shows how to aim lights at nights what degree they need to be on ?
No I don't have a video on that but standard aiming info is out there somewhere on Google. I know that you need to be level and 25 ft from a wall to do it. How high on the wall I don't remember right now. It's not hard at all. As long as you don't have any front clip damage around your headlights they should be level on the wall. Remember we can only adjust horizontal. Vertical I think requires shimming the assembly. That would suck to have to do. I started out by driving down the road and bringing that screwdriver with me. Pulled over and kept adjusting them equally until I was satisfied.
Kool thanks .
By FAR!!! The most bad ass video education I've got off the tube lol thank you sir..
Thank you for the video, we just went to the dealership in out area this passed Monday and was informed that Nissan made a big change with the 2014 Altima. That in order to adjust the low beams lights the front bumper and radiator had to be removed. We told them to forget it.
Moe Moe's wow that's crazy lying to you like that! I'm glad you left
Thanks buddy you just saved my husband (and I) money and a huge headache.
thank you for this amazing videos I fixed my car and now finally I can drive it at night. Without worrying❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have LED's in my Z06 and HID in my RAM, so I put LED's in my wife 2015 Nissan Altima and they were way to low as well; this seems to be the norm from reading the comments on this model and very well maybe the norm for imports; It is the first import ever owned; and definitely not sized for my or the standard american sized ass.
thanks again
Peace
Addendum: By state law: The minimum height from the ground for headlights is 2 feet; the maximum is 4 ½ feet.
Thanks for the info. Changed mine to led and had no idea how to adjust them. Thanks again!
Thanks man !! Been looking with no luck until now. :)
Thank you 1000 times! I’ve been searching for this info forever.
You are welcome! I couldn't find the info either and I'm glad I didn't give up. And I'm glad I found a screwdriver long enough!
Thank you so much. I NEVER would have found this. You saved me hours and much frustration. Also thanks for the harbor freight tip.
Great job. I replaced both headlights and forgot to check adjustment in the daylight. Glad didn’t have to take off fender again. Thanks
Not all heroes wear capes! Thank you for the video.
my god it works thank i was going krazy you saved me from geting into a accident l have a 2015 alterma
Bro Thanks Soo much for Making this Video... I bought New LED bulbs hoping for better lighting... This video safed me a headache Thanks
Saved my life, man!! Thank you for this video.
You are correct I couldn't find any other videos and after I replaced the bulbs in my daughter's they were way to high and needed to adjust down thanks so much.
Did you do a video to show the difference
I really appreciate you doing the work. It made it a whole lot easier for me. Thanks a lot
I tell you what man I want to thank you for this video because I was having some trouble getting it right and you saved me lots of time and money
Helped a ton, and saved a lot of time! Thank you
Thanks for this video!
Want to say thank you. I replaced bulb for a brighter bulb. The angle was so low and then I saw your video. Now its so much better. Thank you so much.
Good video. love the blue jays screaming in the background too.
Thanks so much. My 2011 coupes low beam is miserable. Saved me taking the bastard apart.
Wondering 2015 Nissan versa sedan after hitting a deer and getting my whole light assembly replaced headlight needs adjusting 🤔
Thank you for your effort sir! Now my life is easy 😊
Thank you so much. Mine are terrible. Never received the headlight recall. I'm going to try this. Nice I don't have to find someone to help or pay out a bunch of money.
I'm dealing with this problem now ,it's freaking dangerous as hell why Nissan factory aimed the lights so down ..idk
Thanks man! I may have put them a little too high (will find out if I keep getting flashed lol) but soooo much better! My mom and dad could not see anything!
I have a 15 and thank you a bunch for this Omg.......
I just replaced my headlight assembly’s for around $200 from Amazon.it made a tremendous difference with the brightness.
Please post a link to them! I would love to see better !!!
@@jamesniece5203 I am working on editing my next video on the install and comparison of old and new headlight assembly. Stay tuned for the video on TH-cam @ TrucciSpeed
Did you adjust the aim once you finished installing the new headlight assemblies?
@@brianbaker359 yes, there is I small hole in the fender above the light. You will need a long Phillips screwdriver to adjust it.
On a 2015. You turn the screw driver clockwise to raise the light beam.
My 2015 is identical, accept i had to turn it clockwise to adjust higher, not counterclockwise.
Is this also for a 2013 Nissan Altima S? I changed my headlights and soon after my lights were really really dim... don’t want to take it to the dealer if this is the issue
Yes it is. 2013 and up to at least 2017. Maybe the new ones also, but I don't know for sue
Thank you! I’ll try it and let you know the results
James Niece is this only for LEDs?
Aiming the lights is the same for whatever type bulbs you have.
Doing my 2013 tomorrow will let you know
This is gonna be the first thing I do. Can’t drive my car at night because the beams are aimed so high. Thank you!!
Thank you!!!!! I was afraid I would have to remove the bumper once again to adjust this.
Hello there I just had to replace the whole headlight on my 2014 Nissan Sentra. In the beam is much lower than my passenger side and I can’t figure out how to raise the beam with this method apply do you think or what you know. Thank you.
Outstanding! Why the heck didn't anyone else mention the adjusting hole. I was getting ready to head to Harbor Freight even before I heard you mention you got the screwdriver there. They are good for one use noncritical tools. How did you decide to adjust the angle of your lights? I might just use the garage door as a target. Thx....
Been looking for this forever thank you!!!!!!
How do you change out your high beam light on a 2014 Nissan alt
Thank you so much I have a 2013 and I've replaced the bulbs and all and still cant see at night with my low beams. I'll have to fix mine tomorrow 👍💕😘
I know this is late, but can you adjust your headlights horizontally
No you can't. Most car makers quit making that possible many years ago. I have no idea why! To me that is just crazy!
@@jamesniece5203 thank you for your timely response. I do have one last question for you. My projector light spread is even on the passenger side, but not so on the driver's side in which is doesn't light up the side, just straight ahead. That's why I asked about the vertical adjustment. I changed the bulbs on both sides, but same result on driver's side. What should I do
Same, couldn't find anything to fix this. My Wife's Car Is Insane to drive At night even with Good Bulbs. I'll be adjusting these today!
Thanks a bunch for sharing! 2 thumbs up for letting us know where you got the screw driver. Good job boss.
Thank you so much for the video. It made this task so so easy.
Man thank u sooooooo much words cant express it enough
When I did this vid I had no idea so many would be helped. I'm glad to be of service.
Does it also work for a 2013 model?
It's supposed to work for all years with that style headlight assembly. 2013-2017 I believe.
Very helpful info. I had my headlight assembly replaced & even my mechanic was stumped as to how to adjust headlights. THANK YOU!!
My pleasure!
Sounds like u need a new mechanic 😅
@@TheCoolSpot I'm sure he'd resemble that remark!! 😳
@@andrepoole2933 he probably wld..... As much as u resented him not being able to adjust a headlight! 😂 😂
I wondered if it's the same for a 2013
it is there’s hole right above the headlights !
What time is it going on the back of your head for a doctor who has been diagnosed and treated at hospital in new York city where he has been 6years in his family since the age group of five years.
What?? I have no idea what you are trying to ask/convey
