I have a 2014 Altima S and I've had this issue since I bought the car five years ago. I replaced the bulbs with LED's and made no difference. I went to my eye doctor to get my eyes checked because I couldn't see at night!! LOL... Didn't realize the lights were so low until I had my daughter following me on a rental and she was driving my car. 👀 Thank you for this video. Now off I go to research replacements lights for the car.

@vaughncastle2673 I received the notice, but I had to pay out of pocket first to then get reimbursed. It only covered the lights and not the labor. And I had to take it to a Nissan dealership, which was way too expensive. Unfortunately I did not replace the lights.
Just bought one of these in the day time, then when I drove it home it got dark and I discovered my first issue. Appreciate the video, although could have got to the point a little faster.
Crazy how after 2 weeks of watching this video I get a letter in the mail saying that Nissan is getting sued because of this and you get headlights replacement for free...
@@ericasmith80 i got this same letter and I took it in and they decide whether you can get the replacement or not and if you do not qualify you are out of luck

I have this same issue and it’s easily the most frustrating problem I have had with any vehicle!! It’s so dangerous driving this car at night. I am going to replace the entire headlight unit and use née halogen bulbs. Thank you!!
I have a 2012 Altima coupe. It looks like my lights aren’t even on some evenings. I thought my eyes were going bad. Glad to see this is an actual thing! I’ll have to replace also.
I really thought your video was informative, but I have a question on the AC which you touched on at the beginning. I have a 2013 Nissan Altima that I bought used from Scott Clark Nissan on South Blvd in Charlotte, NC. I didn't feel like the AC was strong when I bought it, but it got progressively worse over the past 5 years. I've been told I need a new compressor which is $1200 new at dealership and $500 remanufactured installed by mechanic. During mild temps it works fine, but on those hot days it can't cool the car down. You started to mention a couple things and I wanted to see if you could expand on those to me what you know.
You don't need a new compressor. You probably just need to replace the AC/Compressor control valve which is sold online at around 45.00. A video is posted here at TH-cam that will give you all the details. Hope I'm not too late.
Please query online -" Rafael Suarez, et. al. v. Nissan North America, Inc." Unfortunately You Tube will not allow me to post the link. This is a class action lawsuit which when it's eventually settled will result in many headlamps from 2013-2018 Nissan Altima's being replaced at no charge. It doesn't matter if you didn't respond by the deadline as stated in the lawsuit as it's still in its infancy and you still can be included to initiate a claim if eligible. You'll know once it's officially settled when the Nissan corporate website known as "Nissan Assist" will list it as a current active campaign. Keep in mind. you may still be able to replace your headlamps at your expense now and potentially be reimbursed later
I’ve been considering buying brighter bulbs, so I’m glad I saw this video! Will this keep happening tho? Or the newer lights are updated and won’t burn out like these?
LED does not put out enough heat to burn a projector bowl, just FYI (LED also doesn't belong in a headlight it wasn't designed for...but that's another story). Halogen and HID bulbs put of tons of heat and will degrade the reflective coating on the projector bowls.
@@dannynoel993 There's absolutely no reason to ban HID. They've been used for YEARS. As far back as the 90's....maybe the 80's. The problem is people throw them in headlights that they weren't designed for (a regular reflective housing, for example). LED is just the newest technology on the block and has been used since the late 00's. Vehicles that come preinstalled with them have the headlights specifically designed for them. The projectors they have have a cutoff designed to keep light out of the eyes of oncoming traffic as well as traffic in front of them. Some might appear blue only because of a color flicker. If they are actually blue in color (the color on the ground or a wall being blue), they are already illegal anyway. What needs to happen is that those with improperly aimed headlights and horrible aftermarket conversions should be fined in accordance to the law. Law enforcement unfortunately has bigger fish to fry.
It’s not the LED that burnt it. I have a 2013 Altima and always used Halogens and by 2018, they were so dim, it was dangerous to drive with just low beams
Hey man! There was a class action lawsuit about this which now requires Nissan to reimburse people who upgraded their lights. It was determined a defect or whatever was causing the lights to be too dim making it dangerous to drive. They are offering free replacements and reimbursements. But you have to fill out forms within a time period. Look into it!

Definitely try replacing the ac compressor solenoid Valve that sits in the compressor with the snap ring. I had a Toyota Sienna with a denso compressor that wasn’t getting cold and it was just the solenoid valve. Auto stores won’t carry this part only on eBay can you pull it up. On the sienna was only $25 so I imagine the Altima won’t be expensive either
Even if you buy new headlight assembly, they won’t be bright enough, so what you need to do is to aim your headlight and you’ll see the big difference 👍🏼that’s what I did and now I love driving at night I ain’t scare anymore, remember to aim your headlights, even new headlight assembly’s need to be aim
$200 bucks.....yes I know. I'm glad it's not just me with the problem and I'm not crazy. I will polish the headlight housings to get some of the yellow oxidation off and continue to annoy other drivers with my brights on for a little while longer. You can't see crap in Florida anyway with most of the countryside not having any street lights so brights almost always have to be used. Eventually I'll spend the money on a decent brand of headlights.
