@@play3rz3r06 so I’m definitely a Pokémon fan more than a Digimon fan - not because I didn’t like digimon, it was just Pokémon was the anime I was allowed to watch growing up, so that’s how the cookie crumbles. Jaiden’s video and a couple reactions I watched actually inspired me to buy a copy of cyber sleuth a handful of months ago, and I am LOVING IT so far. Haven’t finished it because, you know, having a job and just general life gets in the way of video games lol, but I love it so far.
I love that a lot of the Digimon fans are nice enough to say "Jaiden, if you need help, please let us know. We would be happy to help."
It's rather wholesome.
I love helping people, one of the reasons I want to make TH-cam work, to do a lot of charity. It's a big confusing switch from Pokemon to Digimon games. Luckily, I've been playing both since day 1 and are happy to assist anyone getting into digimon!
@@play3rz3r06 I played one of the Digimon... uh... I think it was a Digimon world game. I emulated it for the GBA because I really wanted to play it but no one near me had a copy and I was still too young to get the money to buy a copy. You might even know which one it was because it came out... I believe right around the time that Digimon Tamers came out and I looked up how to get Renamon and you had to get a Digimon with a bunch of light attunement before you could digivolve it into a Renamon.
I didn't play it for long and the next time I played a Digimon game was Hacker's memory... kinda wish I got Cybersleuth first but I was able to get Hacker's Memory at a discount.
The reason a lot of Japanese games have very short name inputs, if I understand it right, is because each Japanese character is it's own syllable so they only need to be a few characters long to make a full name. And changing the character input limit required more coding than just translating so a lot of times it was just left alone. I'm not fully sure of that, but it's my understanding.

For example, letters in alphabet are A B C D etc and read as that. Japanese letter, the simplest one, read as a e u e o na ni ne no ta chi tsu te to ka ki ku ke ko etc. For example is someone called Masatsugu you just type letters that read ma sa tsu gu. That's four. And common Japanese names have 4 letters as the longest.
@@samsolitaryroll Furthermore, if we use the more complex kanji writing system (based on Chinese script), Japanese names can compress even further. For example, Yagami Taichi's FULL name is 4 characters in Kanji: 八(ya)神(gami) 太(ta)一(ichi)
And in programming, especially for early cartridge games that had maybe a few dozen kilobytes storage total, each letter/character of text took roughly one byte, and with a limited number of bytes in storage, each letter you dedicated to saving your character's name is a byte that couldn't be used elsewhere in the game.

I get why people think that Digimon games are bad, mainly because the old ones are. But Digimon isn’t a game franchise, it’s a monster collection franchise that has games. Wile Pokémon is a game franchise about collecting monsters, the difference is Pokémon was made to be a game wile Digimon was mad to be products.
That's a very good point, as far as designs, I love digimon more. The games are much better than they were in the beginning, Cyber Slueth proved that.

@Rage Kage pokemon started out as an idea for a video game based on the creators love for catching bugs in jars when he was a child. All the merch and movies and the anime came after the games exploded. Nowadays the games suffer because Nintendo/Pokemon Co. want a new game every year to pump out a new show and merch, but the games are still the main draw.

@@play3rz3r06 Cyber Sleuth is kind of the sucessor of the game in the video (even if Cyber Sleuth is leagues better), also, Hot take, but the game that came before Digimon Dawn/Dusk (Digimon World DS), is better than any pokemon game from the DS era.

@@play3rz3r06 I would suggest digimon world ds. Cuz dawn/dusk are axtually the sequels (kinda) but digimon world ds explains more about the mechanic more while dawn/dusk is kind off less hand holdy
@Kuurokuro The important thing is to have fun, in my second or third time re-playing the game i used cheats to get the baby/rookie digimon that you can't get until later on at the beggining.
To get race exp before using cheats i just placed the digimon on the farm with the goods of the specific race or grinded (i played the game everyday after highschool and i had quite the patience to get the Digimon i wanted).

I just can't believe she chose dawn one of the most beginner unfriendly games over cyber sleuth one that is one of the best starting points also new subscriber here. In terms of my favorite game it's actually digimon world new order because I love the tamagotchi like gameplay of world one.

Personally I'd recommend Digimon World 2 to really hammer home that you need to de-digivolve (or in DW2's case, dna digivolve) to get stronger mons. Simpler and the most tedious part is the grinding which I find fun. 2nd would be Digimon World 3 because of the easy to understand fight mechanics, cute world sprites, story, and the card game I play way too much of. This game's only problem imo is the maze-like paths. That being said, I might be biased since I grew up with these 2 lol. Also DW2 has a minimap and the main hub is easy to navigate.
Yeah I started with 2 as a kid and loved it, might be why I like Nuzlockes a lot. But like I said, I can understand the frustration with it.

@@play3rz3r06 That’s exactly why I like those two seasons so much. I loved Digimodify, but add in the Bio-Merge that was introduced later on, and it makes it even more awesome in my eyes. And Spirit Evolution was a cool gimmick if you ask me.
I actually bought Cyper Sleuth because of Jaidens Video, (that and it was on Sale on Steam).
No idea when I will play it since my to play list is like.... 50 games long. If not longer.

Eh, Digimon World 1 isn't that grindy.
It's main problem is that if you aren't following a guide you most likely won't have any idea how to meet the evolution conditions for most of the higher tiers.
I guess you could just grind away until you stumble on an Ultimate tier, though.
Yeah your stats have to be very specific and like you said, there's no in game guide you tell you the requirements (I believe). Glad they changed that in future games.
literally my wholeass childhood, just grinding my lil digimon and the childhood agony of almost never reaching final stage lmao. I was always happy to go through the grind though. Kid me just loved digimon a whole lot and didnt mind the whole reset thing. I also loved the ice floor cleaning slidy burger game, whatever thats called.

And yeah, I had no internet back when I played it, so I was just blindly fumbling around, and I couldn't really get past Champion except with something like the Numemon to Monzaemon thing.

I likewise didnt have internet, and never got too far in the digievolution tree, though through sheer stubbornness I did get pretty far in the game story I think.
Finding good, enjoyable Digimon games outside of Cybe Sleuth is like finding a needle in a hay stack when it comes to your taste in games. An example being Digimon Rumble Arena for PS1 it is wonky as heck, but my brothers and I embraced it and it made for some hilarious matches like when I used Renamon to swap place with my brother's WarGreymon to end himself with his own Terre Force.
Someone actually pointed out that the reason you only get 5 characters for the name is because all the human characters have names with 5 letters or less - Tai, T.K, Sora, Kari, etc

No matter what I still love Digimon world 1and re digitize (I wait for a long time for that english patch) although they're very grindy, I like seeing how they will evolve next based on how I raised the digimon and for Digimon world 1, I once beat my friends Digimon even though he uses a cheat to make his digimon has all maximum stats... and that cause me to love Digimon World 1 even more
Yeah I'm a sucker for the grind and seeing progress. Digivolving Tokomon into Lucemon was one of my favorite moments in Cyber Sleuth.

If you're looking into it I'd start with the og, move onto 02, then watch the movie and then move onto Tri and Last Evolution for the full continuation of the Anime, Seasons: 3, 4, 5 and onwards are all disconnected from the original continuity.
I always pick Dawn, because the first show I watched was Fusion and I loved Apollomon.

I think Digimon games has improved over the years. In Digimon World 2 you had to give digimon type specific gift to get them to join you. In Digimon World Dusk you collect data from defeated digimon to make your own.
Yeah you have to save that toy plane for Metalgreymon, and if you don't beat the domain, he repawns infinitely. Though it's hard to keep getting him after using the toy plane, because all you got after that is low level gifts.

I'm more curious why Jaiden Animation didn't go with Digimon World DS. The original DS World game. But then again, a lot of her complains are just generic JRPG complains, so why she thinks it Digimon specific, I don't know.
Let me tell you folks about the time I didn't grind in hackers memory. I set the game to hard mode because I thought it would be epic and I would show everyone how jouzu and sugoi I am.
So I got to the part of the game where you're going into the avalon server and you have to do a boss fight against two security digimon idk they were electric and one was an armored goofy skeleton and the other was an armored pac man. My point is that I wasn't expecting these guys to be able to put out >1k damage in one attack and they put all my guys down like a bad habit. Ladydevimon could hardly do the damage, I hadn't gotten aura yet so could only heal one member at a time, and my only reliable source of damage was gatomon's lightning paw. Needless to say, I got pretty close before being taken out when the game suddenly decided to let the opponent move like 6 times and I got crit for 3 attacks, piximon couldn't survive with a sliver and X heal up this time. Always save your game, folks, because then you won't have to re-grind up. On the bright side, taking the extra time to grind gatomon to angewomon was a huge help. Celestial arrow does big dick damage and strips buffs.
Oof I felt the pain from here. Ladydevimon is a good choice though. I always need a tank healer, this gain will punish you if you get too cocky.
I wish someone recommended Digimon world DS since that at least tells you what everything is and what’s going on since Jaiden here said she didn’t what was happening or even what a Digimon was. It’s not the best but it’d be a better intro than bloody Dawn/Dusk, even as a Digimon fan I’m not a fan of those

6:33 Tedious?! Cyber Sleuth has some pretty good missions. Heck in the original Cyber Sleuth, you fight the seven deadly digimon including Beelzemon and Lucemon.
sorry my original comment was wrong, the game doesn't do a good job in pointing you in the right direction, only showing you where to go on the world map. Then you're on your own. No map during missions to tell you where to go. But overall it's still a decent game.
The crazy thing is i am one of the crazy person that finish dawn WITHOUT cheats ( except the code that you tell the digimon at the arena(?) that give you legend robe and legend sword, you can only use it once ). And i did complete ALL of the quest . Yes, my quest completion rate was 100% . Yes, i got all of those digimon with specific nature in my farm and do their mission.
You ask why ? The answer was , it was in 2020 . 2020 = quarantine = i have too much free time and nowhere to go but at home.
Same, i never used cheats, i couldn't (Had it on 3DS). Only thing I did was look up where to go for a quest from time to time, but not often.

Nadine was never gonna find a game, Digimon isn’t a gaming franchise. It was made to sell Tamogachis to boys.
It eventually gained heart through the anime but it a not primarily a game lead franchise.
I love Digimon, including the grind. It makes the games just so...satisfying. I still remember my team from Dusk when I was a teen, because it just felt good to do all that planning and have it all work.
However Digimon doesn't work with you, you work with it. Cyber Sleuth is the closest to working with you, and even than it has its faults on that. Besides the card game, or the time sink that is the anime(love it but takes time), you will need to work for the game first.
Honestly playing Survive, just got it, I almost think that is the best starter. No big lore, gameplay is pretty basic, monsters mostly self explain. Sure you need to be OK with that kind of visual novel-esq game with a dark tone, but still it peeks you into the monsters and some themes that you can build from without the grinding or anything like that.
Yeah I can get behind that, cuz I liked the grind too. Haven't played Survive yet, but plan to eventually.
if she wants a dark story Digimon Survive will do the trick.

Digimon Adventure for the psp is my favorite and I have a few copies of Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth.
I have never played a digimon game nor do I plan to. I just hate grinding.
But if I did buy a game like this I would atleast hope for a tutorial (even if it is a sequel game) or something

@@RippahRooJizah I mean, I've always been anti-grind. Grind doesn't increase difficulty, it only increases tedium
@@xChijouChanx Grinding has its own perks for certain people, and to certain degrees. Cyber Sleuth is, so far, the game with the most grind aiding I have seen in a game, while Valkyrie Profile 2's combat is so enjoyable I loved grinding in that game.

Most of the time, except for a very small subset of people, grinding only adds something tedious to a game - which is of no value
You can have games with difficulty (Dark Souls) without unnecessary grind

i still dont see how someone could get lost in a game made for like 10 yearolds I played dusk for like 300+ hours before someone stole my copy but maybe I'm just one of those types who loved the grind of trying to get all the digimons and power them up with the strongest moves and such

Between world DS, dusk and dawn, I think dawn is the worst.
Dusk has this little extra part at the beginning that at least makes you understand the story a little better and you get to fight a big before the tournament.
And world DS is before those 2 games and has a tutorial

Cyber sleuth is the same as some of the old game but less grindy and more fun adn have more story to it but to me the most fun digimon game that i enjoy are the one that mostly dont involved adventure like rumble arena
I played CS1 and personally didnt grind that much. Maybe I got lucky with my choice of digimon and how I crossed them or that I did some of the side content.
Tbh if there is grinding it doesnt that have much more than Pokemon games.
I think if she had known that Digimon could speak and that this one had a solid storyline, she probably would have picked Cybersleuth. Its not like Pokemonfans being handed good storys...so that would have been a great impression. It also explains enough things for newcomers to understand what Digimon is about. I really hope she plays it.

@@play3rz3r06 Yes I think watching the Anime would even be the fastest way to learn about Digimon in general. Compared to the games where you have to mostly sink in 15+ hours and cant even appreciate the fanservicy moments. Im no expert on Digimon (I watched season 1, 2 and some of 3 as a kid/teen), but even with that limited knowledge I get some of them.

the reason pokemon anime is not good is because they didnt adapt the game properly. if you want a great pokemon story, take a look at Pokemon Adventure manga. it adapts the game perfectly and is confirmed by the pokemon creator himself that it is the closest adaptation to the game

I went looking for the name of my favourite of the designs (because I don't have much interest in the games or show, but I like the look of some of the characters), and what is it called? Birdramon. Bird because it is one, -amon because that's what Digimon does to its names, chuck in an r in the middle because why not.

I played Digimon World Dusk before Cyber Sleuth existed. It was mazey and there were lots of side quests, but it was fun making lot of digimon. Bokomon and Neamon were in it. That makes me wish I had finished watching Digimon Frontier. I wonder what she thought about the digimon farms.
I've only ever watched season 1 of the Digimon anime, is there a Digimon game I might enjoy? Preferably on Xbox or Switch. I really loved the anime as a kid and have a lot of nostalgia for it, and would love the opportunity to collect my favorite Digimon
I believe Cyber Sleuth is on the Switch and is very beginner friendly in my opinion!

I think she would have liked it more if she bothered to learn the mechanics. She never even got any new Digimon throughout her whole playthrough.

Yeah, she has a second channel where she plays through, and she kept her starters only through the whole game. There's also that part in this video where she directly states she isn't looking at tutorials.

As a pokemon fan the anime is not superior it has good moments but ive seen digimon and its better in almost every way.
What you said about the anime is very true. The Digimon anime is amazing, but most of the games suck except Cyber Sleuth
100% agree...digimon anime is better than pokemon but pokemon games are better

@@play3rz3r06 There's one that tells the whole story from beginning to end of "Digimon adventure", unfortunately it was only released in Japan, because it's a great game. The only ways to play is: Playing a "pirate" version or buy the original and download a "mod" to translate the game if you don't know japanese.

It’s not actually cleverly tailored, considering he wasn’t a worm to begin with. He was a Sea Dragon. That’s why he’s called SEADRAmon. SeaDra is short for Sea Dragon.

Not if you keep in mind that he’s actually a sea dragon, not a worm. Because dragons are essentially amped up lizards, just like dinosaurs are.

Cyber Sleuth is not a Digimon game....
It is more a movie instead of a game with how many cute scenes there are and everything is stream lined, you are literally pulled along for the ride instead of leading it.
A Digimon game are games like the Digimon World games, which Dusk was a perfect example.
Cyber Sleuth is a Digimon game. A lot of the mechanics are inspired by Dusk/Dawn. It doesn't matter how many cut scenes there are. And being pulled along for the ride doesn't prove otherwise.
An RPG with a lot of cutscenes doesn't make it less of a game. And Cyber Sleuth is far from the worst I've seen. Like, I've played Xenogears and the Xenosaga games.
Honestly, she had to have been getting something for making this video. Like, Digimon is doing great right now and her being so closely associated with pokemon and by extension Nintendo its painfully bias. Its like shes trying to halt pokemon fans from expanding out of the pokemon franchise. Its pathetic and childish
I feel like you've never played digimon dusk/dawn cuz I've beaten the game and have dozens of hours in and everything jaiden said about it is completely valid
@@lancearnedo7837 I've played dusk and world 2. I've also played the vpets and digivice. I bought a vital bracelet too if you know what that is. The TCG is beyond fun.
@@lancearnedo7837 and when the show came out, I was there 3000 years ago and it rivaled pokemon in ratings. I remember having to choose at 10 years old between watching pokemon on Kids WB or Digimon on Fox Kids. I totally made the right choice as far as franchise variety goes as pokemon never tries anything new. I may get stinkers from digimon but they're always unique and self contained lol

Just got into the Digimon TCG. Its a fricken blast, I'd recommend both it and One Piece's new trading card game.
I didn't know it was still around! I had some cards as a kid.
