Hey Everyone! Thank you all for being so patient with us on this build🙏🏼 This turned into a nearly 2-month project with the building and documenting of the whole process. We've heard from all of you that y'all really enjoy these longer bigger builds but I must say it is difficult to make them work financially. We want to make more projects like this but need some help to make it happen. Here are a few ways you can help us, no pressure though. • Share this video with your friends and family (This is free but honestly goes a realllly long way) • Grab yourself a sweet Tee-shirt from our merch shop: bit.ly/35ugxlX • Purchase one of our many available project plans: bit.ly/33fpL47 • Lastly just by watching and commenting makes a massive difference Seriously thank you for being apart of the Woodbrew Crew✌🏼
fuck you for sooooo many adds...who do you think you are? you're a kook making an unsurfable board from PINE!! with lots of knots in it! unreal. you could have at least used cedar...and a more realistic shape than 22.5 inches wide and 2.75 thick!! wood FLOATS! and air is more bouyant than foam, so you need LESS volume in a wood board, not more. nice shop though. got enough cordless drills?
Hey Woodbrew, thanks for sharing your process, great to see how you've built this! I f I may add some toips (I know it's too late for this project, but for viewers who want to attempt the same), your shaping process had a little flaw in the profiles shaping; I believe using a similar process as the foam surfboards shaping process would have been much easier and accurate, and the guidelines you drew on the board before starting to plane would have been useful... you need to start planing from the outside towards the center, and every pass needs to go along the length of the board. Any other regular surfboard shaping video will show you the proper way. But I'm glad in the end you managed to get a fairly symmetrical board matching your profile templates! Keep going!
First time I have seen someone make a wooden surfboard and it didn't disappoint. Kudos to your patience and attention to detail in a long span of time.
This is awesome! One thing I would recommend for others is to make thin plywood templates for tracing and then using a flush trim template router bit so they all end up perfect.
Definitely a good option for those that have that size equipment👍🏻 I will say though the cutting them out is the really time consuming part and you’d still have to do that before taking it to the router. You are right though it would make the flattening process go quickly👌🏼
Glad to see what you've been up to. I know that feeling when all things come together and it even impresses you with the quality of your own work. It does feel good to know that things are how you have envisioned them. You guys are awesome thanks again for sharing your interests, hobbies, craftsmanship and your life journey with us all.
@@Woodbrew Iam from Pakistan i have also a little experience of wood working. i have table saw jointer planer and drill press. and now trying to purchase miter saw
This looks like it’s taken you weeks to make. Plus frustration, material waste, several tool usage. Maybe next time start off with a foam core. Home Depot sells insulation board, that would work great. Shape the foam with a wrasse , rip long boards of your choice 3/4”wide x 1/4 thick . Glue the strips on to the foam with liquid nail. Reshape the board with planners, belt sanders, and wrasse. After shape of board is ready add fiberglass and resin it. Good to go. Please add fiber glass to the board you are building. Resin alone will not prevent it from cracking and letting water get to the board. Hope I helped
Are you fiberglassing the board or is it just epoxy on wood? Fascinating build. I’m a pretty big guy and it’s hard for me to find a paddle board big enough for me that isn’t 3X the cost of a board my wife and daughters can use. I’ve contemplated building my own, so I’m really curious to see part two.
There seems to be a different way to make woorden surfboards than shown here. Grain makes them from a wooden skeleton and two thin wooden sheets glued around like a sandwich. However it doesn't have to be better. It is worthwhile noticing different techniques to make surfboards out of wood though.
hello, what is the length of your planks as well as the thickness and the width because on your book you mark 2 6 8 May, there is no indication of measurement 6 m in feet and I am on Reunion Island and suddenly we are in cm and could you give me
My board is made from “boya” balsa from Ecuador. My board is 9’ 1/2” and only weighs 16 -17 lbs fully glassed with my fins in place. That is very close to the weight of a foam board of the same dimensions. If you liked your lumber board you will adore a balsa board!!!!

and you should have cut the outline from the FLAT hull, and THEN had much less material to fair on the deck...

Would have asked me a million times " are you finished? I want to go out" lol

Awesome job, would take me years. Looking forward to seeing your moves on that thing 😂

Awesome work Y'all, thanks for sharing the process, looking forward to part 2! 😃👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Thanks Fred! You’re the best!
Great video 👍
Thanks!
Bring on part 2! 🏄♂️
Oh we bringing it 🤙🏼
That’s insane
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Awesome video! My question is why can't you just use a big piece of wood and shape it? Why do the pieces need to be screwed together?
Hi, your project is nice.
When you will release the part2?
It's up now!

use the power planer diagonally, dude!
Hello, I loved the video. I wanted to ask you, since your watch caught my attention, what model and brand do you use?
That looks nothing like my garage/shaping shed 😬😁
Is that a good or bad thing lol
Next project ? A blade guard for your bandsaw (on the left side) 😉
Yea, we needed one! Just got a new bandsaw that has one :)

All will be reviled in part two😁 No fiber glass which is an advantage of making it this way

Hi. The link to the surfboard plans doesn’t work. Where can we get this?
Hi , did you get the plans I need it too

what kind of wood ave you used for this board?
Pine :)
Are you going to fiberglass it?
We decided not to considering how much epoxy is holding it all together and also to save on the weight
What wood did you use?
2x6 pine boards from Home Depot 🙃🤙🏼
@@Woodbrew We will see how you float because the surfboards that I have seen in wood are made with balsa wood
@@dabowlspr It;s the air chambers inside that provide the flotation.
This is awesome! I’m excited to see it in the water!
The thickness of the boards to the center of the surf board is irrelevant. The center is the center of the template
I kept thinking this thing’s gonna weigh a ton.
Lol it does, but it still surfs well!
