Right at the end you touched on tags and searching. For me this is the key to the whole system. I could make stacks with logically organised folders, but if I don’t know what’s in there it’s not adding a great deal of value. Let’s say I’m into cookery and I’m about to cook a meal to impress my boss (M) and his wife who I’ve invited over. Unless I know there’s a note I made years ago about how a certain spice will add a “wow factor” to the main course, I won’t use that knowledge because I don’t realise it’s in my notes app and won’t search for it. Love the video today though it comes across as Part 1 of a wider look at how you access the information you’ve collected to inform and inspire the work you’re doing today.

That's something my wife has been interested in this year. She's created a notebook called Recipes, and she collects all her interesting recipes in there. She hasn't started tagging yet as she only has around 40 recipes at the moment.
In your scenario, I would put that into my Resources section as cooking would be all connected together.

Carl has been reading my mind lately, and maybe it's because I'm also in Korea. But all of the recent posts are spot on with where I am with my own productivity-handwriting and all of it. Last month, a friend said she likes to organize by date, which totally changed my relationship with my old notes and files. When it is time to move it to the archived notebook, I tag the note with the various tags that may apply and then move it into that current year's archived notebook. This allows me to search everywhere in the future for a tag, find it again, and allow it to appear in other places when appropriate.

Hi Carl! Really enjoy how you implement actionable steps and theory in your videos. I’ve been diving into PKM, digital and paper notes, and writing on Medium. I see you’re on quite a few platforms. I’d be curious to know how you juggle a consistent schedule across the platforms, the friction between transferring paper to digital on top of your schedule, and how many optimizations you think you’ve gone through to get to your current productivity system. I’ve only been in the space for a 2 years and already made tons of optimizations 😊
I’m also a newer subscriber so I apologize if you’ve already talked about it!

Hmmm, it's all about how I manage my calendar. I have blocks for doing all my work each week and I will not miss those blocks. I think of tech as being for output and paper for planning. That keeps things simple for me.

Thanks Carl, I feel that the search function is very good for Evernote so you'll naturally find things by way of your brain prompting a key words

How do you determine names of your resource folders? Bond could be in a folder titled movie, action, Aston Martin, Omega, watch,...

      @Carl_Pullein  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

I've never gone down that rabbit hole. I keep my organisation as simple as I can. Evernote's search is good enough to find any notes I may have on Omega watches or Aston Martin DB5

Hi Carl! Thank you for great videos.
I am very concerned of the fact that I cannot export all my notes as a backup since new Evernote 10 had been implemented. Taking into account that many users report that loose their notes sometimes.
Besides, every new Evernote app seem to drop more and more useful functions - they are no longer available.
What do you think on this?
    Sorry for my english

That's not something I've come across, fortunately. If it's happening to you, it will break your trust in Evernote and it might be better to find something you do trust.

    Hello Carl.
Just one question: is Evernote still working? I read that they had changed companies and that they were much more expensive in price, as well as very unreliable.
    You will tell me.
    All the best!

Evernote's working brilliantly and getting better and better. It was bought by an Italian company called Bending Spoons, and they clearly have some very big plans for it.
