Marvel's Guardians of The Galaxy is a mostly okay game that released in the shadow of Marvel's Avengers, a mostly not okay game, and everyone just assumed it would have the same issues. It didn't. Ithad it's own set of problems. Here are its sins.

If you decide to sell Rocket, Hellbender will decline the offer and say she would rather buy Groot. Because of that you would have to fight your way through her fortress instead of sneaking. Yes, not all of the decisons matter but quite a few do have different outcomes.

And if you offer rocket and say he is cute, rocket flips off and starts shooting and blows the whole plan, so the scene with Groot dont even happen.
It also changes the location to find some skins for characters
I loved Mantis so much more in this game than I do the MCU, I don't even count her really as part of the Guardians.
I did too in fact. I liked Drax,Gamora and mantis more in this game.

I’m sorry but sinning the Guardians for talking and for calling Star-Lord different things is insane
No matter your opinions on the game, you can’t deny that the voice actors *earned* their paycheck.
While the game doesn’t really go into detail even if you get the right triggers for the dialogue it’s actually Peter himself channelling power through the guns not the guns themselves to do the elemental stuff. It’s basically one of those you had to have read the comics references.

If there's one thing i will fondly remember this game for is having "Dont worry be happy" as my final boss music XD
Also while the ending is the same, events of the final mission are changed depending on your choices, such as reducing encounters against enemies, and the are certain dialogues choices that will be "remembered" and called back to at a later point in the story

Gameplay was just fine for the playtime. Worlds were linear but great to look at, the story was just fine too.

It was a perfect one-one game. Highly enjoyable and ended when it was supposed to despite its flaws.

There is a reason why Quill doesn't grow up emotionally. It is called Arrested Development, and is the psychological condition that can trigger due to a traumatic event. You stay the same age emotionally from that point on as a coping mechanism.

I loved this game. So much fun and had some great voice acting and deep cuts to classic comics characters
Yeah the character interactions are what makes this game great especially when you mix and match their attacks with full upgrades at the ending

I only stumbled upon this game because it was on sale on Steam and immediately bought it. Didn’t know it was being developed or even released ngl but I was craving some GoG content. While the fighting was indeed a bit frustrating, the banter between them, the voice actor’s delivering and the story is nice. I’m pretty sure they’re adapted with the banter and personalities off the movies more than anything else, so them calling Peter by different names is pretty in line. In conclusion this is a great game for what it is.

Interesting video but I think that you got some things wrong.
Thanos being in drax’s mind makes sense since His family died to thanos. In early parts of the game he shows and tells that he has not gotten over thanos yet.
I also disagree that Gamora caring about Nikki felt tact on it actually makes sense. I would also say that she has more character than being the daughter of thanos but you can argue that some of those details are more subtle and you have to find them on your own.
Dartigan possibly felt they were tacked on because he might not have gotten his hidden friendship level with Gamora high enough to get all the personal chats with her.

I think that Drax, Gamora , and mantis are better in this game than in the mcu.

I love Marvel's guardians of the galaxy it was my second favorite game of last year. I want a sequel
I liked the game, it was much better than the premiere at E3 suggested. The only gripe I had was the characters overtalking each other too much and when one got interrupted during dialogue, they never went back to what they were saying as Red Dead Redemption 2 did. I was so happy they focused on a different stone and not the blue one like they overused in the MCU.
For sin 81 at the 27:22 mark, I originally thought this too on my first play through. But on my second one I realized that Drax was talking crazy immediately after the indoctrination scene. You don’t realize it because the gameplay and combat distract you.
The big cult ship was from built during the galactic war when Adam Warlock was leading the cult. The shuttle that exploded in chapter 2 was the only ship he could run on with the few people he had

Ya forgot about 0451, which was the door code to Looking Glass Studios' office, the creators of Thief. The code is a way too referenced reference, like for example it's the first code in every Arkane game, except Deathloop, but it still ends up giving you a reference to the reference.
also used in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I think they were referencing Fahrenheit 451
@@themark443 The Fahrenheit reference thing was actually a coincidence. Just as said earlier, this was code to Looking Glass bureau. I believe one of the LG employees confirmed it in some interview and mentioned the weird coincidence.
@@IDontLikeTheDuckface it WAS originally a Farenheit 451 reference in the first system shock by admission from interviews but morphed into an in-joke for the company and their alumni which includes many people in Arkane, Irrational, Ion Storm, Eidos Mont., Etc
This video was kind of a miss for me, the best part of this game was definitely plot and dialogue. I thought they did good capturing how the team dynamic would work and evolve. I love your channel but it felt like you were being unnecessarily critical this time
Yeah there was one part that he said about Peter, Gamora, and drax that was a miss for me.
in the rocket path of hellbenders fortress, hellbender calls rocket cute, and rocket kills one of the gaurds out of frustration, but never mentions groot
The thing that always gets me is that, no matter the resolution or quality settings, hair is always pixelated up close.

Literally finished the game last week. It's really good. Good gameplay but Great dialogue and voice acting.
I expected him to sin the fridge.
I've giving this an upvote because I like this channel. Thought this game was great (except for the combat which is its weakest link). The writing was good, the plot was interesting, the characters were amazing as were their interactions and the levels looked like the leapt off the page of a 1960's or 70's comic book. I highly recommend this game.

Dartigan, can I kindly ask why have you lately begun every one of your videos with two-minute long ramblings about your personal thoughts on the game as a whole instead of just getting to the actual things "wrong" with the game? There's a reason CinemaWins and GamingWins save the monologue for the end.
What a coincidence, I just started playing this again and wondered if you'd done a video on it yet.
Given Sony seems to be the epicenter of the MGU with both Spidey's and Wolverine, I could see them buying up Eidos Montreal and greenlighting a sequel.
I saw the Promise being like Reaper indoctrination. Though Mantis may have created a block or thought for it to latch onto to bring him to her planet. I wouldn't say they wrote themselves into a corner, more like a bottleneck. They had a lot to get done to set up the later missions, so we get Drax's and Rocket's character development, find Adam Warlock, plus the addition of Mantis.
Everything with Nikki seemed like they were building to her being Peter and Ko-Rel's kid, but decided not to at the last minute.
What do we have to do to get an Arkham style Daredevil game, huh? It’s really not that big a leap. There’s a huge rogues gallery to play with, an obvious big, bad in Kingpin, heck, Daredevil even has a built in “detective vision”. I promise you no one will really complain that you’re copy and pasting the format. Ooh, plus, bonus points if you throw in a little Ace Attorney for extra measure; let us gather evidence to use in court later.

There's nothing wrong with it 😂 when I spend 40 minutee in the opening of the game just sitting on a bed and listening to a kick ass custom album on a Walkman you know this is gaming perfection
That was my favorite part, I was singing along and surprised they did the whole album.

Saving this to my watch later to watch later but my biggest gripe is that there's a bunch of times where it felt like it was the end of the game and was gonna be somewhat of a satisfying conclusion just for the game to be like "BU WAIT, THERES MORE" and then drag you into another few hours before it did it again

This game was a nearly perfect Guardians of The Galaxy game if only the combat was a little deeper but I'd probably still put it in my top 50 best games.

I will not understand why a set-up team like this is NOT a Coop based game like Left 4 Dead or so and write a nice story around it while AI controls them without players but still able to choose your character. Or hell, Lego Games do that still better with so many character choices.
What SHOULD be Sin 5: They get into the Quarentine Zone to hunt a monster they were told would be around an old mining ship. I can buy that a monster would make its nest near an old mining ship, but how would anyone know about it to tell them if its in the Quarentine Zone? The area of space people are not allowed in and which the Guardians needed a seceret code to get in? Actually, later in the game, they find an old guy looking for his god in the Quarentine Zone, so either its not that hard to get into and the Guardians were duped into paying for an easily aquired password, or thats one hell of a coincidence of two unauthorized ships getting picked up in the Quarentine Zone at the same time.
Only reason I didn't play it was because no co-op. This game screams co-op
Quill's guns operate on the same rules as Samus' suit from Other M. I'm gonna add one more sin to the final count for reminding me that Other M exists.

I kind of wish that the game wasn’t linear, but I guess that gave more opportunities for more detailed environments. The bosses and the repetitive enemies is what I had the biggest problem with mostly because it took forever to fight a boss as the first was killed by magus for some reason which I don’t get why it was done so we got hellbenders beast later on instead which was ok. The twin's battle didn’t really last long since it’s interrupted halfway and we never see them again. Fing fang was also way to long and magus was too easy for me.
Honestly i really had fun playing this game. Im a huge telltale fan so this really scratched that itch. And if they added a bit more to the combat it could have been a great game. Unfortunately there wont be a sequel but i think with a few tweaks this could have been a great game.
I think the surprising part is that you did my suggestion...something like three years later and the comment is from five years ago. I love TH-cam.

I don't like this narrative that a lot people push that you only play as Starlord. Yes you only have full control of Starlord, but you also command the other Guardians. This effectively gives you control of the whole team. You're really playing as the Guardians not just Starlord.
As far as combat goes, I thought it was fun as hell and robust enough to allow the player to tackle encounters in different ways. I was always excited when the next combat encounter came up. Everything just comes together so beautifully during the combat encounters: the music, the yelling, the shooting, the punching, the chaos. It really made me feel like i was there and got my adrenaline pumping.
I'm glad that someone else agree that there is an ungodly amount of dialogue in this game that's delivered so horridly that it sours the actually decent gameplay. I have only played this in one sitting that last a few hours, and very very few games have given me a headache while playing, even less of them in a short span of time, and it was all due to how much the characters wouldn't shut the hell up

Groot's new power to bring anyone back to life removes all stakes of doing anything. There are no longer consequences for failing to save someone.

Care to explain why holding a sword by the blade will cut their fingers off? I have praticed hema for years so I have on good authority that if you don't put force into it you are not going to cut anything. Not to mention there is a whole defensive techinque where you catch the the opposing sword in a downward strike not to mention you need proper edge allignment to cut.

Only sin is, that during pressing a ton full of buttons the right time in combat and music screams at you, the characters give some of there best lines (one time, not the repeated ones)! Sometimes you cant listen careful enough.
Most of those sins are explained by the game itself...
The best part of the game is that you can spend 50 minutes at the beginning doing nothing but listen to the fake Starlord album they made specifically for this. And it's as good as any metal band from that era.

Honestly there’s a lot to really like about this game and it’s the best interpretation of Adam Warlock outside of the comics
