I liked it better when there was a supernatural aspect to Vamp, kind of like Psycho Mantis, and The Sorrow. Everything doesn't have to be nanomachines...son.
Wish they'd kept that stuff super natural. MGS4, all the super natural stuff from MGS1 and MGS2 is cause of nanomachines. MGSV, all the super natural stuff from MGS3 is due to parasites. No...
@@Gruntvc I was fine with the nanomachines explanation for stuff, since it at least has some grounding in reality (or will do eventually), but the parasites one is just such a crock of shit. The entire story in that game is a massive disappointment.
Yeah and to add to that... Metal Gear Solid 2 is absolutely gorgeous even now. You just look at the detail Kojima's team poured into this game it looks breathtaking.
@@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective true. Even today, with now PS5 and such, the game still looks great. Detail was for sure a thing but the konami team just did an amazing job making the whole game look smooth and extreamely pleasing to look at. Very good art style.
@@kidkangaroo5213 you just did. and besides its actually a pretty decent cautionary tail in a society that clamorizes that lifestyle, should be mandatory reading for all girls
Snake goads 'Change sides? I don't recall saying I was on yours." yet if you attack him earlier in the game there is an optional codec response where he does specifically say 'Raiden!I'm on your side!'
1:44 fun fact dude In the game, Hal says this: H: There's actually one little thing... S: Just spit it out. I'm used to things going wrong. H: It looks like someone's monitoring our transmission. S: Who? H: I don't have a clue. All they're doing is watching -- it would creep me out less if they tried to interfere with our communications. S: Could it have something to do with that cypher we saw? H: Maybe. I've switched the encryption protocol for our burst transmission for now. What i want to do is use a different method for sending those photos, just in case. S: instead of using the codec? So... Why the sin?
they added a sin because MGS2 didn't do the Ground Zeroes-Phantom Pain thing for Tanker-Plant. A lot of the sins make no sense, especially when you know background lore.
Pretty sure for the P90 thing, Kojima saw that the 5.7mm was designed for better armor penetration and immediately went: "well that must mean it can rip apart a huge mech with tank armor!"
It is so crazy how he perfectly predicted the whole internet and echo chambers of today and then the whole meme theme stuff. Pretty creepy but frickin fantastic if you ask me.
Plus, the bandana is from Meryl's ending in MGS where she lives (though Snake also has the stealth suit from Otacon's ending where Meryl dies, which should be a sin in and of itself since both endings can't be canonical).
@@JCBro-yg8vd how can they both not be canon? They both live when you save Meryl, and seeing as they both survive, you get the bandana, then for MGS2 to happen, Snake and Otacon clearly meet up afterwards so Snake can get the camo off him then....
@Manek Iridius That's the problem with social warfare. It's intentionally fought by nefarious groups with ill intentions. They trojan horse through virtue signalling by claiming their ability to take a shit on everyone is "the right way" and any push-back makes them a "victim". Both sides are guilty of this and all they do is drag everybody down and devolve them into fighting one-another because propaganda commands them into what they ought to believe in. Since both sides are basically bad, they literally boost each other in order to justify their existence and actions. You can't pull your bullshit without a boogieman to deflect blame away to. It's a never ending circle.
18:11 I see Dartigan was negligent here, he didn't read the in-game novel "In the Darkness of Shadow Moses: the Unofficial Truth", where is clearly stated Nastasha Romanenko was the one who wrote it. As for Olga's behavior, she clearly was receiving orders from the Patriots only to confuse Raiden. You fell for it.
Actually he did, he even showed that in the research for his video. That line was meant to be a joke suggesting that Ocelot wrote it just to the fact he manipulates every event in the series on a near omnipotent level in MGS4.
I'm not sure that structure means what you think it does. SECNAV presides over the Department of the Navy, but the chain splits right there. The Chief of Naval Operations and the Commandant of the Marine Corps are advisors to SECNAV from the Navy and the Marines respectively. They are separate branches from the same root.
2:23 This sin doesn't go unpunished, in MGS4, Sunny has (or well had depending on what games are canon in MGR's timeline) a stutter, caused by Snake pumping Olga full of Tranq darts on the Tanker.
Actually the stutter is because Sunny had been in hiding most of her childhood, having little to no social skills and no experience of the outside world beyond computers. (Otacon says so in MGS4).
@zhulu1 yeah in 4 all she has for human interaction are snake and otacon so it's normal for her to be shy and timid,I guess her working in the airfield and interacting with others made her more outgoing
I remember playing this as a kid and getting to the liquid controlling ocelot through his arm scene and I was like, "ohhhh. This is going to be stupid."
I find MGS2 is infinitely better if you assume that Rose was always a simulation by the Patriots to confuse Raiden, and that she was never actually talking to him.
She 100% was - after all, near the beginning she's asking Raiden if he remembers what day 'tomorrow' is the entire time, which is the AI probing about the patriots, because it's independence day.
Her just being in Manhattan where Arsenal crashed throws that though, like how did she know where he was and why didn't she seem even slightly concerned or...anything over seeing him? The whole rose existence thing has really confused me more than like anything else in the game lol
Actually dusted off my Ps2 a couple months back and played this through after many years. Had to say I enjoyed it thoroughly even tho the story is still near impossible to follow. No one makes games like Kojima
Using codec while being physically next to each other unintentionally or not predicted how most 40 or younger olds use their phones even while being next to each other nowadays.
@@joshpl5451 The only flaw in MGS2 is the fact that Big Shell isn't nearly as expansive as it should be, the 2nd half of the game should have taken place in New York
@@joshpl5451 no. Metal gear survive was the biggest fucking disappointment. Even the pachinko. Did everyone forgot about those games? Mgs2 compared to those is a masterpiece
Pretty accurate except for the why didn't snake help fight the harrier bit. You can't safely fire a shoulder fired rocket or missile like the FIM-92 stinger inside a helicopter due to the backblast hazard would flood the cabin with enough force to kill the pilot and destroy the interior.
I cannot state enough how much I adore this game. Metal Gear Solid 2 is an example of what gaming could be - a way to get people to think in a way no other media can achieve. It's so sad to see so few developers adopt the philosophy of this type of story telling because it has so much potential. It may not be the most mechanically sound game in the series, but for the impression Metal Gear Solid 2 makes, it's unmatched and I highly recommend anyone check it out.
@You Tube Bless you dude, it's nice to see someone really appreciate this game for what it aspired to do. It was daring as hell. Also snakes speech at the end, legit listen to it to this day if I can.
Every response from Raiden is a confused question. "A data processing system?" It's like he's always the last to know and has never heard these terms before.
My head cannon is the Tanker Chapter we play in game is Raiden VR. The different things shown in Snake's flashback is a major clue, while literally saying to Raiden "i doubt your simulations accurately depicted those events". PLUS, it changes. If you skip the Tanker and just do the Plant, the codec calls change to reflect that, and Raiden won't mention his VR right away. All the button prompts, and Snake talking about infinite ammo, that's probably just Kojima being Kojima, clearly...
'Hammets' is an actual term regarding the neuro-chemical process of information being passed through synapses in the brain between your neurons. GW/Arsenal having 980 trillion synaptic triggers (per second I would guess) is realistic when you consider the size of it, applying it to AI makes it theoretical but the term is still being used correctly
For real though, can we talk about how Kojima and his team got away with essentially making the same game 3 times? Metal Gear 2 which inspired MGS and MGS2 which is essentially a recreation of MGS
You got the sin wrong depending of ocelots arm at the beginning. Liquid could take over ocelot BECAUSE ocelot is the son of the sorrow and a sort of medium, causing liquid to be "revived" in ocelot. As soon as ocelot became actually aware of it, he got rid of liquids arm and replaced it with a prothesis, causing liquids influence over ocelot do vanish. But ocelot thought it would be better to fight the patriots by imposing liquid anyway to irritate them. so he underwent hypnotherapy to became a real doppelganger of liquid. So everything in the games is actually right the way it is
I really wanted Vamp to be the successor to the Gray Fox program. Everything they've experimented with Gray Fox gave Vamp cybernetic and artificial human advancements, but the negative effects were he went completely insane and thus, thought he was a vampire. But all those extra components and muscles in his body that normal humans do not have, would've covered his ability to run on water and up a strut and would've even later served as a byproduct for Liquid Ocelot's Haven troopers, sourced from Vamp (their ability to stick on walls and jump to high places). The nano machines would've been the glue that held his highly enhanced body together. It may be pseudo-science, but at least it's something that could hold up to reality and science enough to suspend disbelief. Every extraordinary or inhuman ability being "just nano machines" was complete bullshit. If that were the case, why wasn't Naomi leaping over buildings? Didn't she have the same type of nano machines that Vamp had to pause her cancer?
This is also one sin that should have been brought up, and it took me a while to really think about: if the GW AI copied Colonel Campbell's persona based on precognitive expectations and Raiden's own experiences, why did it back talk the novel "In The Darkness of Shadow Moses" even though technically the GW AI is suppose to follow the behavior patterns of the character it's using as a template? Campbell would never disrespect the novel that he himself approved since Mei Ling recorded all the codec calls and Nastasha wrote the novel. Also remember, the "Colonel" AI is still part of Raiden's own creation, and Raiden would never insult the novel that he read.
1:30 Dude, what the hell are you talking about? Speaking as a former Amazon employee, I have to imagine that Amazon would *LOVE* to have its own Metal Gears to perform deliveries...... or just to manage its employees.
"Metal Gear Solid 2 may be the closest thing games have to 1984 in terms of a scary prophetic future that has more or less come true" - Uh, no, that would be Deus Ex, and it came out a year earlier.
1:46 at the time snake took that photo neither him or Otacon knew their transmission was being monitored, that’s why he later used the terminal as a safe way to send the pictures
Don't forget the L-R debacle of the Japanese language. Not only can English speakers not say La Le li la lo (not even looking up if thats correct btw). Japanese people EXTRA can't say it. Which is supposed to be part of the point.
honestly i think the logic of ocelot being possessed by liquid could have been made a lot better if perhaps ocelots arm was a prosthetic and perhaps instead of it being hypnotherapy it could be from liquid implanting a microchip into ocelot that contained liquid snakes consciousness
I vote for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. My favorite MGS besides MGS1 1998. MGS2 had its good moments, but man was a slap in the face for Solid Snake fans.
13:30 the point was to recreate the Shadow Moses incident as part of the S3 plan. By deviating from that plan it would put the life of Olga's child in danger, she was to aid raiden only in giving the intel that the Patriots wanted Olga to give, not what she thought would be more beneficial
@@jeffreygilson1565 I was able to watch my dad play the ones before this, even helping with some stuff. I'm pretty sure the bait and switch just confused me but I really like Raiden/Jack as a character. My main gripe with the game was that we had to go through the whole game calling Snake Pliskin.
The arm thing. Yeah, so actually in mgs2 it IS liquids arm controlling ocelot. The arm is flesh and we hear his voice actor. This causes problems for ocelot so he has it removed and replaced by a robotic arm, BUT he also sees the potential for fooling the patriot AI, so that's why he doesn't sound like liquid, and why it's not even his arm anymore
Semper fi is not a Navy saying. Also, in addition to possibly hitting someone with the dogtags when he threw them, it would be incredibly ill-advised for Raiden to throw something that would have his social security number stamped on it down on a crowded New York street.
10:40 expecting the sole bomb defusal expert on board to be the one defusing the bombs isn't a reach. If anything, it's extremely obvious. Especially when you remember Fatman demanded his presence. 19:30 ...Are you serious? He uses the straw *BECAUSE* he has armour blocking half off his face. It's a fucking a straw, it bends.
2:21 Nope. I come from the future to let everyone know Kojima's gift of perversion for Death Stranding will be elderly women/milf-twins and....Norman Reedus showers both normal and golden variety (but the latter goes without saying).
#2 - What's so coincedental or strange about the US Military shipping something through US waters? #5 - At this point in time Meryl's survival on Shadow Moses wasn't canon and both possibilities had to be accounted for #6 - In a world thriving on conflict and war any and everyone who could afford one would want one #9 - You do realize that it's Ocelot we're talking about here? The guy who's "best friends" with every major player in the game? #10 - That sounded very much like a door or hatch opening and would be something an infiltrating agent would be alert to #11 - It's to assume he's not relevant to the situation right now, which is why he isn't mentioned #12 - kink shaming #17 - And that's a bad thing now! #20 - Because Ray was designed to destroy Rex (the model EVERYONE has now) which was superior to tanks #23 - At this point in time, this is NOT a sin. The retcon is, but it's a sin by the game retconning it. #24 - The demo for MGS2 (the tank chapter you mentioned) was used to sell Zone of the Enders as a pre-order bonus #25 - Raiden is (from what we know) the "baddest dude" FOX has at this point #26 - And what are you gonna plug that USB stick into when you want to look at the map? #27 - Just because it's old doesn't mean it's not currently existing #28 - Being sent on a mission that's identical to what you've been trained to do all life is VEEEERY suspicious... #30 - Yes, what you really need on a high-stress battlefield is something to keep you grounded and in good spirits, they're not arguing here she's trying to make him remember a happy day between the two #32 - I actually never noticed that, good job! One sin off! #35 - That was in Metal Gear Solid 4. In this game you can take up any weapon from the ground and use it. #36 - We all know who he is. Raiden is fooled by him. Where's the problem? #37 - The point of the VR missions was that you (Raiden) were Snake. So where would he have encountered Snake then? #39 - That was because before (and after) Snake was a proxy for the player. In this game, Raiden is the proxy. #41 - Infiltration, Weapons, Technology, Adaptivity, Stressful Situations, Combat Strategy. In short - everything an infiltrating agent, not a bomb expert, should know about. #45 - He never used those terms before, because before he never pretended to be a Navy Seal. #50 - Yes, because he's a megalomaniac that wants Stillman to show how much better he is in every regard. Basically, the ultimate fuck you git gud.
#52 - Yes, because just ignoring the fact that someone, instead of giving in to your demands, is trying to foil your plans would be absolutely retarded if you're trying to be in control of a situation! #53 - Is it maybe due to the fact that she KNOWS he's not the real Solid Snake and only uses his name to fool the observers? #54 - As we will see in the end, THAT'S THE ENTIRE POINT! #55 - In MGS2 Vamp shows absolutely NO signs of wanting to die. That's in MGS4, where most of your references seem to come from. #58 - He bows forwards? #60 - This is just a visual metaphor for gameplay reasons. It's to be assumed he carried it on his body. #61 - Or he actually used it (to get to) somewhere else? Like get groceries or feed his cats? #62 - If you were fooled or not, Raiden was. Also, maaaaybe, just maaaaaybe it was not designed FOR her? #63 - And also the Codec takes the vibrations directly from your throat so you wouldn't be standing there openly talking, which anyone patrolling there could hear. #64 - Yes, because officially Olga is working WITH the bad guys. Her knowing the location is very plausible and her raising of the security could've been done to keep the facade up. #66 - I don't think he would be shot on sight but rather could not pass security perimeters. And if they would actually shoot each other due to very high security standards, everyone would be briefed and the whole plan would be layed out accordingly. #72 - Almost as if everything is going according to Keikaku for him, as we see later on (Keikaku means plan) #73 - To divert any suspicion away from herself #74 - The foxdie virus is completely irrelevant here since it's mapped to Liquids DNA and attack LIQUIDS vital systems. It's irrelevant to the arm and Ocelot. #75 - It's almost as if all he heard from the bad guys is all made up to divert attention away from the plan surrounding Arsenal Gear... #77 - Yes of course! A secret two-man team that operates secretely in secret should be known to everyone for their affiliation with each other! #78 - Solid and Solidus never met each other. Solidus was created way after Les-Enfants-Terribles, trained in absolute secrecy and aged artificially. The similar look to Big Boss is irrelevant. #86 - Or any investigative reporter, person working with ANY crew that was involved in the incident OR it was actually a controlled leak of information to keep the masses satisfied and misinformed? You know, what this game is all about? #87 - THAT'S BECAUSE THIS WAS INTENTIONAL! THAT'S WHY OCELOT IS THERE PULLING THE STRINGS IN SECRET! BECAUSE SHADOW MOSES, ZANZIBAR LAND AND OUTER HEAVEN WERE ALL RUINED BECAUSE OF THIS LITTLE, UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCE CALLED DAVID! THEY ARE PLANNING AROUND THE FACT THAT THERE WILL BE CHAOS INVOLVED! THAT'S THE POINT OF IT ALL! #94 - No, it doesn't! MGS3 contradicts MGS2 in MGS3, MGS2 in itself contradicts absolutely nothing on it's own here! This is about MGS2! #96 - The internet in our own timeline was meant to allow instant global communication originally. Then 4chan happened. Same happened in MGS2, it seems. #97 - Since you like to reference plot points from MGS4 so much: Outer Haven and Arsenal Gear were both marine control centers exactly for that reason. They would have the capabilities and reach to change things on the outside but be "unfettered by land and government". No outside influences, no considerable threats - a safespace within a safespace. #98 - I don't think that genetic relation was really the main requirement here... #99 - It's almost as if he's planning all of this...
#101 - No. Raiden and the President were both standing parallel to the wall that becomes the cameras field of view in the next shot where Ocelot is show. Ocelot stood at a 45° angle to both of them. #102 - Yes, indeed. Very robotic and lifeless. Completely free of any emotions, like a machine! #103 - Or because Snake is just a kind human that didn't want others killed. Or maybe he had to keep up some sort of facade to fool certain onlookers. #104 - Yes we could just ignore all the vital character developement and underlying themes in those conversations because we hate Rose because it's cool I guess? #106 - Minimalism does not equate to complete rejection of a home or the lack of any personal memorabilia! #107 - Yes, because Huey actually tried to DROWN himself! And he wanted to take Emma with him because he's a sick fuck that deserves no sympathy. #109 - More like: "Our job was to act like terrorists to prevent terrorism, then we got unfairly labelled as terrorists but nobody would believe our true motives." #112 - She's grasping at straws to try and make sense of a situation that she absolutely can't explain to herself. #113 - Emma is a human being (with several traumata) and not just a line of computer code that has a pee-function! #114 - So you basically admit that before conversations could be overheard accidentally and that it was a good thing to use the Codec? #116 - Desperate times call for desperate measures. If you can ignore that you're deathly afraid of water to survive, you can ignore a few piss-soaked clothes. #117 - No it wouldn't, because a dead Raiden wouldn't answer his Codec call. However, this dialogue is terrible anyway, so who gives a shit? #118 - If you burn your hand on a lit stove and it hurts, would you keep that information from someone who's about to touch a lit stove? #118.5 - Comparing TH-cams biased worldview and struggle to avoid any responsibility is not comparable to a strategic attempt on relevant censorship #125 - The virus is so complex in its goal that it HAS to consist of different sub-viruses that each attack different fuctions of Arsenal. It would be plausible that some of the vital ones got through the NORTAN(c) anti-virus and a system collapse could still be achieved if the right ones got through. So not a stupid question to ask there. #126 - "As a woman" was the same term used by The Boss which (also) had no sexual connotations. It was simply meant to be interpreted: "As a human being who's female". #127 - Somebody lost his sister and we're making fun about said sisters personal struggles, achievements, trauma and mistakes. This is why we need Bullyhunters! #128 - Maybe that's why he's such an introverted, weird, naive, scared, but lovable idiot. #129 - Pep talk is always supposed to be the truth and nothing but the truth! #130 - Yes, but Olga has to still get past Security Systems, Guards, Drones etc. Having the pretended reason of bringing in a high value prisoner is not the worst idea to sneak someone in. #132 - Unfortunately, there was lots of cut content there in the final game. Still sin-worthy, though. #134 - Someone who has emotional issues, can't keep relationships and tries to distance himself from any and everybody would actually be pretty shameful of themselves, especially with the self-loathing he carries. I can relate there personally. #133 2 - That's EXACTLY what's happening here. Snake cheats, simple as that. It's not even up for interpretation and the game openly admits that. #135 - Why is any of that a bad thing (sin)? #136 - I rest my case. #137 - I actually love this your statement so very much! I would give at least 2 sins off, if I hadn't already screwed up my counter-sin counter from the very beginning... :s #139 - These are mass-produced unmanned Rays, not the Ray from the beginning. Their intented use is to be unmanned sentries. #141 - Olga doesn't know the gender because the baby was taking right after birth, the gender is irrelevant to her message, the gender is irrelevant to us, it's not the least bit weird to say it like that, if this line of dialogue had forced Sunny into being a boy in the later entries I would have rioted! #142 - Nanomachines, son! #143 - Fortune is a soldier first and foremost, like her father. She values loyalty and obedience. Her order was not to kill him but arrest him for Solidus. #144 - Solid and Liquid were both flawed, biologically birthed clones with DNA alterations. Solidus was bred in a testtube. Also, Solidus was the President during Shadow Moses and I doubt they would knowingly unleash a superweapon that also targets their most valued puppet. #145 - That's the manned version of Ray from the Tanker Chapter that I was talking about. It's not connected to Arsenals network and thusly not affected by the malfunction. #146 - As I said before, the "random" coincidences were the main point to keep in mind for the execution of a failproof plan. #147 - Future, meta-level "retcons" are not a fault of the product itself. Also, please don't compare this masterpiece to the tragedy that was MGSV! #148 - Because you want to conduct further testing AND you have the off-switch in case anything goes bad. #149 - Not arguing with the technical logistics, but as you can see she's wearing a Navy-Design uniform so it could have been integrated there without her knowledge. And Fortune, as I mentioned, is a soldier. She would always wear a uniform that's issued to her.
#151 - Because of the power of Arsenal Gear? Because he needs to take out their trump card first? #153 - I completely agree, especially regarding a point I will make later on. #156 - And a fucking cool one at that! #157 - I feel a very strong sense of irony right now as I'm continuing to type out this list. #156 2 - A Hideo Kojima Game (tm) #156 3 - But it was, though! I've mentioned some in-universe examples earlier and it's heavily implied on the meta-level with the player being misguided up until now and yet thinking everything is going according to Keikaku. It's not about Raiden in this context, it's about us - the players. We had certain expectations, a status quo and a ruleset we adhered to, only to now see we've been played because of our pre-conceived reality. We wanted to hate Raiden and idolize Snake, we wanted the same story over again and we blindly accepted everything that fed into that narrative. #Regarding 153: In the scene where, after you land the final hit on him, Solidus is falling off the building he's desperately grasping towards and empty flag pole. In the pre 9/11 version it featured the embodiment of all he held dear and was fighting for - the US-Flag. After he lands on the ground and climbs towards Washingtons statue, you can see a shot of Raiden doing a fancy, but seemingly random swordcut. This too was altered as before, Raiden cut down the same flag so it would land like a blanket on Solidus' corpse. It's a genuine shame all of those really poignant and heartfelt metaphors were altered or removed for a completely backwards reason. #161 - Evangelion is overrated, has no coherent moral and is nowhere close to the lessons we can take away from MGS 1,2 and 3. I will fight anyone to death on that! #162 - Snake does know that these are, in fact, dog-tags. He only uses the question to start a conversation about why Raiden is carrying them to religiously. #163 - Raiden also says this while throwing away the dog-tags with the PLAYERS name on them. #165 - Snake is not in the circle of people who know the gender of Olga's child. He's just making assumptions. #166 - While open-ended, this is in no way sequel baiting. The important lesson to take away from the information that the Patriots are long dead is that you've basically been fighting for/over nothing because you only did what you were taught, told and what you thought was right. But those that taught you these contexts have been gone for a century, don't have to live with the consequences and gain absolutely nothing from it.
36:54 To be honset, I don't think this game is the 1984 of videogames. Same themes were used in Deus Ex just 2 years before the release of this game. And they are handled with way more cyberpunk acumen.
I inadvertently did play this game without saving. When I first played this game as a teen, it was on the PS2 and I didn’t realize that I didn’t have a memory card. So I began playing around 11 pm and by 3 am, when I realized I couldn’t save, decided to just forge ahead and beat the game. By the time the fourth-wall breaking began, I was genuinely delirious from lack of sleep and the impact of those moments were unbelievably powerful because of my mental state. As I beat the game, the sun began to rise in real life, syncing up with the end of the game. It was surreal and awesome all at once.
Bless you dude. Be glad that those 4th wall breaking moments didn't have you do what I did and turn the game console off because the colonel told ye too.
Lots of stuff is sinned for ambiguity. I think it's stated that Olga was separated from her kid almost immediately. And the Metal Gear Ray they bring up with them on Arsenal gear is not the same model as the UAV's Raiden fought, it's the prototype from the Tanker incident which features the tail, and dosn't seem like it'll run without a pilot who has undergone VR training.
9:00 It’s even worse knowing Snakes original service branch was the Army. A Green Beret pretending to be a SEAL, only to fuck up and use a Marine motto and another motto used by an entirely different nation’s army (SAS, British Army)

Every response from Raiden is a confused question. "A data processing system?" It's like he's always the last to know and has never heard these terms before.
Arsenal's ray were cheap mass produce versions, the one that Ocelot had was the stronger
I like this comment, it teaches me something that's actually kind of interesting. Here have a like.

So everything in the games is actually right the way it is
That is still absolutely sin worthy for trying to introduce magic in a series that still loosely tries to base itself in a loose version of reality.

Because they weren't the same nanomachines, she only had the regeneration, not the physical augmentation.

You've got some sins yourself here. The hostage execution never happened. Fatman only came because Stillman would be there not the other way around.

#2 - What's so coincedental or strange about the US Military shipping something through US waters?
#5 - At this point in time Meryl's survival on Shadow Moses wasn't canon and both possibilities had to be accounted for
#6 - In a world thriving on conflict and war any and everyone who could afford one would want one
#9 - You do realize that it's Ocelot we're talking about here? The guy who's "best friends" with every major player in the game?
#10 - That sounded very much like a door or hatch opening and would be something an infiltrating agent would be alert to
#11 - It's to assume he's not relevant to the situation right now, which is why he isn't mentioned
#12 - kink shaming
#17 - And that's a bad thing now!
#20 - Because Ray was designed to destroy Rex (the model EVERYONE has now) which was superior to tanks
#23 - At this point in time, this is NOT a sin. The retcon is, but it's a sin by the game retconning it.
#24 - The demo for MGS2 (the tank chapter you mentioned) was used to sell Zone of the Enders as a pre-order bonus
#25 - Raiden is (from what we know) the "baddest dude" FOX has at this point
#26 - And what are you gonna plug that USB stick into when you want to look at the map?
#27 - Just because it's old doesn't mean it's not currently existing
#28 - Being sent on a mission that's identical to what you've been trained to do all life is VEEEERY suspicious...
#30 - Yes, what you really need on a high-stress battlefield is something to keep you grounded and in good spirits, they're not arguing here she's trying to make him remember a happy day between the two
#32 - I actually never noticed that, good job!
#72 - Almost as if everything is going according to Keikaku for him, as we see later on (Keikaku means plan)
#73 - To divert any suspicion away from herself
#74 - The foxdie virus is completely irrelevant here since it's mapped to Liquids DNA and attack LIQUIDS vital systems.
#109 - More like: "Our job was to act like terrorists to prevent terrorism, then we got unfairly labelled as terrorists but nobody would believe our true motives."
#112 - She's grasping at straws to try and make sense of a situation that she absolutely can't explain to herself.
#118.5 - Comparing TH-cams biased worldview and struggle to avoid any responsibility is not comparable to a strategic attempt on relevant censorship
#125 - The virus is so complex in its goal that it HAS to consist of different sub-viruses that each attack different fuctions of Arsenal.
#139 - These are mass-produced unmanned Rays, not the Ray from the beginning.
#156 2 - A Hideo Kojima Game (tm)
#156 3 - But it was, though!
I just realized something. Raiden is basically being held hostage and forced to do this, the codec looks like a gun pointed at his head…
Just realized that the Russian general at the start is voice by the same guy who did the CrowFather from Darksiders 2.
36:54 To be honset, I don't think this game is the 1984 of videogames. Same themes were used in Deus Ex just 2 years before the release of this game. And they are handled with way more cyberpunk acumen.
When i heard “political correctness” my jaw just dropped
We live in a dystopian future that Kojima predicted 20 years ago
Big Boss But not a religiously-worshipped ideology like it is today. Holy shit, Kojima has a legit crystal ball.
So you think “political correctness” is an expression that came from like 5 years ago ?
Vladimir LONG
Yes that is obviously what I think

5:06 outdated tech is still currently existing, so there's no conflicting statement here.
3:33 Gives respect for a developer and then sins it anyway.
*ding*
Tbf, werent burner cell phones still using designs like that in 09', which is when the game is taking place?
25:53 “Snake is the last person to berate anyone over sibling rivalries.” 😂
as a kid i never noticed grandpa max's voice actor was in this game. damn i hate aging
I vote for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater next!
22:33 He directly says they learned about it after arriving, iirc.
Do Snake Eater next! Keep the MGS train going!
9:00 It’s even worse knowing Snakes original service branch was the Army. A Green Beret pretending to be a SEAL, only to fuck up and use a Marine motto and another motto used by an entirely different nation’s army (SAS, British Army)
