2:20:00 / 2:43:25 When it comes to destroying excess alien eggs - remember that a heating tower can burn any organic material, including eggs, without clogging up. This removes the ticking time bombs from your base, in case anything should go wrong unexpectedly. Also: Cool, I didn't even know you can use ghost mode to add materials to [platform] assemblers (as a logistics request)! Manual crafting 2.0 xD
its funny to watch someone make a mistake and you knew all along. "why is he leaving prod mods in the chest instead of more useless things?" Nefrums later:"where are my prod mods" "of thats why, hes just messy"
6:01:40 / 6:01:44 / 6:01:52 / 6:01:58 - the key here is to build it on unattached space, so it's still a ghost, fill the ghost, then copy the ghost back to attached platform, and it'll build with ingredients loaded. Similar to how one can do with turrets, etc. (which, I can't remember if I saw you do on Vulcanus or not; I know I've seen others do it, and tried it myself, and it works -- both for turrets and for machines in orbit.) Anyway, nice run! I imagine in a few weeks we'll see you break 10 hours, and then 8 hours, and then 7 hours..... ?? Looking forward to seeing just how fast you end up getting it, once you have practice with the builds, practice with what to make sure you leave on a planet, etc.
P.S., also, when watching 6:08:19 I'm reminded to mention another thing: with the above strat, you can also just paste the copied ghost over the machines again whenever you want and it'll refill them (assuming inputs are available).
P.S. Ah, chat to the rescue and you figured that out. Cool. FYI, it can also be done in space, instead of down on Nauvis as you did, but yeah. Congrats on setting the bar with the 1st world record! ;)
In vulcanus he had 3-5 gun turrets and a lot of poison and he made a poison trap basically. The worm went around it like it was a roundabout, that took a bit longer than if the worm went straight (and i dont know if it does but the poison was hitting many segments) and died. Was in part 1.
He's got that in his v2 build, good idea. I just secured 4 nests by dropping a bunch of poison capsules and filling 7 tiles out with walls so biters can't spawn
@@RuslanKovtun It's just what I use in the early game before capture is researched (and back in v1 before it existed). Lets you preserve close nests without dealing with spawns.
4:30:00 the 'stuff' request for Tungsten Carbide and Tungsten Steel was requesting from Vulcanus and therefore never asked for the ones you sitting on Nauvis. You never had them on the Aquilo ship when you left
Took me 80h on my first try. Hopefully i can get the 40h achievement next time. Gratz on the run, impressive! It's going to be fun to see how it's optimized
also my solution for overfilling random chests of whatever, like spoilage, is to just put a purple chest (push to logistic network) and create a huge storage area of yellow chests to accept the waste, normally i create a 10x10 area, and if its not enough, just copy paste to double storage, and have requesters take from there
Check out the new "super force building" feature (FFF 383). It lets you quickly build over existing structures, either marking them for deconstruction or changing into undergrounds in case of belts and pipes. Would've been useful whenever you were fixing build mistakes or running belts through the mine field.
a big problem i had on gleba were the seeds, they kept overfilling and i had to set them up on an autoburner and expand power slightly by bringing extra materials with the gleba ship
Next time try to make explosives on Gleba, pretty much any resource on Gleba is infinite as long as you can protect the borders. Making outpost on the other side of infinite map just to get oil is not good decision.
"Output rate used to be unlimited, but it is now inversely proportional to the fullness ratio of the sink." Friday facts 430 2024-09-27. Does this mean that throughput can sometimes be improved by adding storage tanks? Did he ever add storage tanks to hold oil?
The idea of multiple turbines in space spooks me because I always end up running out of water, but then again I'm probably building sub-optimal space platforms, watching this has given me a lot of ideas on how to improve my spacecraft.
Water management is bigger problem with planets closer to the sun (Nauvis - general lack of asteroids, Vulcanus - ice asteroids have low spawn rate), Otherwise having 2 chem. labs on ice processing to water can easily power up a full reactor with multiple turbines easily. It does not consume that much water, usually manufacturing large amount of rockets or fuel are the real water consumer.
Have you tried adding a few laser turrets to shoot at small asteroids on the final ship? (The ones that get spawned after normal sized ones get shot up by gun turrets, only has 20% laser resistance and can be 2-shot at normal laser research at that point), could save a bit of ammo. Also somehow the main thing that affects how fast spaceship flies is width instead of mass, so having a narrow ship means less thrusters and fuel consumption.
Are you sure? How are you supposed to learn and measure that width mechanic? Like, how can you estimate the speed penalty of your craft given its width?
There were definitely a lot of new things from 2.0 not used in the speedrun presumably just because he's not used to them. So many times where super-force building would've helped... I expect future runs to take better advantage of the 2.0 additions as runners get more comfortable with them and decide where to implement them.
running out of power with two separate, unconnected nuclear reactors is wild
Great job! Can't wait to see the first 100% achievement run 😀

in the case of spoilage / eggs on nauvis, you could just burn it with heating tower as suggested in comments as well

cool story. wheres the link to your speed run where you demonstrate it
@@gazjaz2010 I'd like to give polite response but no, fuck you, you don't have anything to demonstrate either.

I play Factorio since 2017 with 2600h on the clock and I even haven't completed the ship yet.
If you just setup nuclear power on nauvis early on maybe you wouldn’t have run out of oil

ah yes - air resistance.

I guess people who care enough will be doing extensive testing (and also using creative mode tools).
@@zxxvcc I suppose you could have interplanetary medium resistance but that requires moving at ludicrous speeds.
Maybe Wube are modelling the effect firing more projectiles forward the wider your ship gets. That'll push your ship backwards. Could be!

I laugh at this because there is an achievement for completing it in under 100 hours and it was done in 14 hours which is almost a 9x more
There is a second achievement to finish within 40 hours also. Still very impressive though.
At 14 hrs I am still getting my first space platform setup on Nauvis…
