indeed, that's what it's supposed to do, rotate clockwise but not counterclockwise, I mean it actually does turn counterclockwise but you need a lot of torque to turn the whole crankshaft, which is what your starter does. it spins freely clockwise so that when the engine is turning it doesn't turn the starter too.

Actually it’s not suppose to spin the other way. It’s called a “one way” if it spins the opposite way freely then it’s bad. ✅
