I have a 03 impala ls. It has the 3.8l v6. It's a fantastic car. Mine does have the tec as it's the 3.8l. It's very reliable and I would suggest it as a first car or just a cheap commuter car. It gets around 23 mpg even with the 3.8l engine and I like to floor it too not going to lie. great car over all. I've had it for a year and I love it.
@@Bobby-cm7vu it's amazing as a first car. It's slow enough for a 18 year old like me but I drive like an asshole. Parts are cheap, always starts up no matter what. I just passed 100k miles and things are still great. I've been doing a lot of aggressive driving and speed runs lately and it's running strong. Great gas mileage, always 200-275 miles or more only on 12 gals with 4-5 gals left reserve but depends on your driving style. I had to replace the EVAP lines because the cars frame is completely rusted but nothing a $7 rubber hose can't fix to pass inspection. Great amount of space. But it isn't for me anymore. It's just too big, heavy, and slow. Not saying it's a terrible car. Me and my impala have basically gone thru hell together and it's just a beast of a car. Just do regular maintenance like oil and fluid changes and a tune up like spark plugs and wires. And your car will last forever. Just the rust issue is a bit of a problem but I'm trying to get a CTS4 next. I'd love to keep the impala as like a work van because the amount of space it has is amazing. But sadly, I can't have 2 cars because insurance would kill me.

But im getting rid of it mostly because the amount of space I have never gets used and I want more luxury features in a car and I take on off ramps at 40-45mph. 50-55mph if I wanna make the tires squeal. I just like driving fast so I need a car that handles better. The body is roll is insane but not bad if you can handle it. Very soft suspension but because it's soft. It's a interesting experience when driving because you feel like you're on a cloud.

This engine is notorious for Intake manifold gasket failure. If you deal with that this is a great engine. More fuel efficient and just as powerful as the infamous 3800
I have this car. If the temp. guage NEVER goes past half way the engine & radiator fans are doing ok. Learn where fuel & starter relays are located, same part numbers can be swapped to test. MAF sensor & Throddle body spray cleaned every 6 mos. Change full synthetic engine oil & better oil filter every 6 mo. Change specific transmission pan fluid & filter every 2 years. Change water/coolant every 2 years. P.S. Don't change the transmission when the problem is ONE BAD COIL SITTING on top of the motor. Hope helps.

I literally got one 2 weeks ago best decision i made . My temp sensor bad but it got me 2 perris ca qnd back with out no problem! Very reliable its a head turner nd its starting to be come a classic like the older one. Feels good to be part of the chevy family. I love my 3.8
I use to have a blue on blue 2003 Impala with same engine. He is right about the transmission. However, I still want another one. Mine had the traction control and it worked really well. It had the Chevrolet wheel covers like that. But tires were still good size and looked good to me. What he said about it driving well is right on. It rode really nice and handled quite good. Next year I'll be looking for another Superior Blue one again.
This is an old video but I’ll say this anyway. Your temp gauge is fluctuating because the head gasket is bad. GM 3.4 liter engines are known to have head gasket, lower intake gasket and coolant leaks. I have an ‘03 Impala and I’m getting ready to replace the head and lower intake gaskets. The engines aren’t the problem. The problem is the gaskets GM used in these engines weren’t designed for the high acidic Dexcool antifreeze they put in them. The antifreeze ate up the gaskets and caused them to leak, which, if let go too long, destroyed the engines. Coolant would get into the oil and contaminate the oil and the oil would lose its lubricating properties and cause the engine to seize up. If your temp gauge is fluctuating 20+ degrees hot or cold, that’s a sure sign your head gasket is bad.
I'm driving in this exact car right now and I love it. Something's wrong with the shocks in the back end and it gets kind of wandering, but other than that it's perfect

The 3.8 is the ideal engine in these. The 3.4 isn’t bad but the 3.8 is dang near bullet proof
