  • Today we are talking about lodging for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. We explore just how large the area is and how many different towns there are to stay in. Places like Rapid City, Keystone, Hill city, Custer, Wall, and of course Sturgis. We also break down the different types of lodging from hotels to camping Air B&B and more! We talk about the debate between riding to the rally vs taking a trailer and even discuss the big three campgrounds Pappy Hoel, Glencoe, and the Buffalo Chip.

I'm going for the first time this year, staying at an Airbnb in Rapid City.
My buddies bailed on me so now I have the place to myself and the opportunity to make some new friends during the rally

If you are new and want to get the full right-in-Sturgis experience, there are people all over town (at residential homes) who rent out tent space in their yards. Showers and laundry are often included. Prices I saw last year were $25-$30/night per person. There was still vacancy as of the peak of the rally last year. Most of them are within walking distance of the downtown core.

Definitely a great option for the ride in crowd!

Stayed at Lamphere Ranch last year (2023). Horrible experience. The bathrooms were disgusting. There was poo on the toilet seats constantly and it felt like they never got cleaned. The showers never had hot water. And where I parked my toy hauler.. it was close to the border for Glencoe so it was constant noise all night. Lastly, they screwed up during check-in and charged me and my wife an extra night beyond what we booked. When I caught it and asked them to remove it.. they said they couldn't because there's a no-refund policy. That really pissed me off...

Back in 2021 we were at Glenco, whoever they switched to for sanitation sucked. That place stunk and was nasty. I was really surprised.

@@funonwheels1903 Ya.. the porta potties down the road at the gas station were way cleaner than the actual flush toilets at Lamphere Ranch.
