Sturgis 2023 - Rolling through the black hills (day 1)
20 yrs ago Bristol Motor Speedway was da shit.
I could imagine! I was surprised how tall it actually is.
Gorgeous
Black hills motorr classic was fun. Rally in city park was fun. When they changed the name it went to hell
Wish I was there for the glory days!
your never lost on a bike as long as you have gas. rockytop rocky. tenn. 68 and still riden.
Couldn't agree more!

Unless you're rich, you can't afford the Chip! They have been missing out the last half (Wed-Fri) the last vouple years. They are trying to keep folks longer for money and shirt sales. I have gone the ladt 16 years. I've spent frim $400-1600 ant that includes riding every day, camping and eating. Now i have beenstaying last 4 years in cabins. If you book early and look around ive stayed all 10 days at $800 and $1200. Its cheeper to get a buddy to share that $1200 but there is free camping on BLM land. Et at American Legion in Piedmont exit 46. This year is $12 and $17 breakfast and dinner. Its a full homecooked meal with cake and ice cream. You can plan on that. 10 days $170 to eat add $120 if you do breakfast. They put out a menu at start and you can take one.
Seems like a great place to spend the rally. Where do you ride in from?
@funonwheels1903 Alaska, it's just shy of 3000 miles one way. I've done it for 13 years. Now I store a bike in Wisconsin at St Croix H.D. in New Richmond. I've come annually for the last 16 years. I'll be 70 after the rally.
my son and I go every year... we stay down in Custer in a cabin for $55 a night... anyone pissing and moaning about the money just doesn't do any research... to bad
Agreed. That's one of the reasons I will be making these videos in the next few weeks. Researching Sturgis could become overwhelming quick.
Ive been to 47 states here in the US
Currently at 38 trying my best to catch up!
@@funonwheels1903 my husband was a long distance truck driver , me and the five kids went everywhere with him. If we had to layover waiting for a load we rented a room and a car and went sight seeing., we've seen Niagara falls from the New York side and the Canadian side.
ive gotten to where... if there is a large group of people anywhere, i dont go there... its just sooooo much less stress and headache
That is definitely understandable.
No helmet?
We don't have a State income tax, we need you guys to spend, spend and spend more.
There are quite a few that shell out the big bucks for sure!
Money's tight, never been to the Sturgis Rally, never will.
I always go the last half - or later. Get the after rally sales. Just camp in a tent for $25 a night and eat street food. Will be my 35th year.
Sounds like a true veteran! The post rally crowd often do have the best things to say.
Ape strong together. One piece of gravel is all it takes for ape to wreck
We enjoy it. We don't go every year, but every few years it's worth it. First time 1998, then 2005, and so on. Will be going next year, god willing. Best rally by far. Thanks for your vid.
I passed through there on my way Helena Montana in the early 90s it was good time up until I almost beat a weight lifting lunatic at the arm wrestling bench especially when I was only half his size 👍
Ya ok. 😂
@@KA-om9oz you probably think lifting weights makes you tough
Sounds like you need to come back to uphold that title!
@@funonwheels1903 that's the thing I didn't beat him I only put up a good fight for long enough to piss him off he started flipping out to the point that two giant bikers I think his friends maybe had to restrain him while a few other people told me I better get on down the road. At the time I had been buckin lumber off a green chain in a saw mill 12 hours a day 6 days a week for 10 years
Too many fat chicks and wrinkled up grandmas trying to look sexy for me.
Everyone's doing it, so you should too. Conform! I went in May and enjoyed the scenery by myself,
Definitely save a buck that way! I would love to do a trip where I have the Black Hills to myself!
Nothing like walking down to Lazelle with you and your buddy with leashes on on 2 chicks with bras, panties and high heels. A mother walks past with a young boy. The young man is overwhelmed with this vision. and I say to him... One day you can have one of these for your very own!
Sounds like you have more than one good rally story!
Who are you? Of course it is!
No it’s not, at least for getting a value for hotels and restaurants. Prices are sky high. Go early July and enjoy the black hills at your leisure.
Sure that is fine - have done it myself. But the experience of Main Street at its busiest is a completely unique experience that is a must see for every biker.
I would have to say I agree with both of you here. Nothing wrong with going twice!
I wouldn't go to it if they held it in my garden. ! R
Its worth it, but just realize you wll get screwed while you are there. It has changed a lot over the years and it really has become a money grab. Kind of sad.
Sometimes I do wish I had a time machine to experience the past rallies but if you have some self-control you don't have to spend that much to have a good time!
I feel I could have more fun and spend less money by taking public transportation to a Taylor Swift concert.
In my opinion, The Black Hills Classic (Sturgis) can be many things to many people. I stayed at Glencoe and the Chip the first years they were open and City Park before that. I had a blast. I was also 30 years old then and crazier than a shit house rat. Now I stay in Custer SD and ride over to Sturgis, if I feel like it. Now days, it almost seems like a spiritual pilgrimage. I love the hills and I feel connected to them in some strange mystical way. I'm from TN but SD is my favorite state.
I have often described the rally in those exact same words! It really is a transcontinental pilgrimage that draws you back year after year.
same here... I'm 62 and been tagging my son along for the last decade (he finally moved back)... we also stay in Custer now... we stay at Custer state park in a cabin for $55 a night... everyone pissing and moaning about the money don't do any research at all...
Ditto, this will be my 20th rally 100% a spiritual journey.
Nope... Nothing but fake ass wanna be tough guys now. Or RUB. Half the motherfuckers that tow their motorcycle up there don't even ride it and can't even work on them.
It's worth going because you'll never find better riding then SD, WY & MT.... the rally itself is the least of the attraction.
Alberta B.C. is better.
It is often difficult to beat riding the Black Hills!
@@murrayjonasson Alberta is beautiful but nothing beats riding areas like Zion, Glacier, Million $$$, etc. plus, crossing the border last year was such a pain in the ### it deters me from wanting to go again this year (I rode up to Jasper).
Wow … the Knuckle was a local family biz from the foundation. I remember when they had to change from The Busted Knuckle. Really liked the family who owned it originally. I hope they keep it as friendly and relaxed as it had always been.
From the little I know about the change of ownership it does sound like it was a good transition and I do hope it stays true to its roots. Sounds like @bobandtams will have some updates soon. Always look forward to their content. youtube.com/@bobandtams?si=rrdGdOsg5nTUlqcx
To me, none of these big rallies are worth it. Too many people, too expensive and watching videos of all the major rallies, they all look the same, right down to the girls who work the bars, boring!
Having just returned from Laconia and with some east coast rally experience. I can surlily say Sturgis doesn't compare to any large gathering event anywhere. I'm not a salesman for Sturgis by any means and these events are not for everyone, but there is definitely no comparison to other motorcycle rallies in my opinion.
Wow, this looks like a great event!
It never disappoints!
Maybe that was God's way of saving your life. 😂
Could be!
BEEN GOING SINCE THE MID 90'S AND NOT GOING TO CHANGE MY ROUTINE
That's a stretch! Hope to see you there!
The tail is cool. But over crowded. Everyone needs to find their own ride and go ride it.
Agreed
To be fair. You are riding old man bikes on a windy road. You won’t have lost much time.
A lot better roads in the area use them
100% agreed!
Too many Harley's are on it, leaves the real roads open for serious riders,
Yeah all that info is on the website! All avoidable 😂
So many better places to ride. Too much traffic and too many idiots riding the dragon. No thanks.
Yup. I will be there on 1 June. But not going to lie. The repaving plan has been out for awhile.
Second weekend is a ghost town. I think if sponsors pick it up, go for it! Attendance is only on the decline.
Sounds like a great trip , have fun , be safe
Will do! Stay tuned, I'm bringing it all to you!
Could have been cool - then you added the dumbass background music.
That’s cool you got to see that fr
Great barn find
It's not too shabby.
The thunder headers sound better
Agreed.
