The concept of seeing the inside of a Gem's gemstone has interested me since the beginning of the series, so I am super excited to see how this pans out! I should have expected Pearl's inner mind to be well-organized, but I wonder now what might be within Steven's gem: possibly Rose Quartz meditating or something...

She finds a way to get around whatever is binding her from speaking however, by hiding her phone inside a part of her gem linked to memories that Steven needs access to but can't tell him about. So she hides the phone, and then sends him in after it. Wouldn't it be crazy if pearls big secret actually was from the diamonds, and Steven learn something that even Rose didn't know? I don't see it very likely, but wouldn't that really support Pearl belonging to the fusion of all four diamonds? I cannot stop theorizing with you guys about this show! Thank you so much!
I've been thinking, and this can't be the lighting inside Pearl's gem. Steven seems to have undergone a desaturation because of the white light, while Pearl's hair is clearly more pink. Pearl's shorts seem less vibrant and her blue seems more vibrant as well. Maybe since the gems' bodies are simply projections of light, the colours get a bit mixed up when they form their bodies. Either way, keen observation. It's in no way an accident.
Maybe this is closer to Pearl's self image, and since she was so close to Rose Quartz, her self image is made similar in coloration, but it's something she hides in her real world form.

Everyone calls Pearl salty but she's honestly the most precious thing I've seen in SU. She's not my _favorite_ gem, Sapphy is (probably cuz she's my birth stone) but Pearl is still adorable. The sad thing about her character is that she's so drawn back, she doesn't say a lot and she's not much of a help providing new information, but now that we get to *literally* look into her will be amazing.

You almost spelled it right- it's spelled 'palanquin' and I've seen much worse on the internet. Nice theory! I doubt this will be what happens, but it certainly ties everything up nicely, including why Rose was inside Pink's palanquin at all. I don't know why they're putting so much emphasis on Rose's sword since we've already established it can't shatter gems, but clearly it was important to the plot somehow. We'll just have to keep thinking about it...

Don't worry, everyone forgets that Rose's sword can't shatter gems. Still, it must be important somehow, or they'd stop showing it to us in these scenes. It's taking a long time for the show to prove this point- Bismuth mentioned the sword couldn't shatter gems in what, season three? I think the sword is important, very important, just maybe not in the way people think it is. (Also yours is hardly the strangest theory out there, I mean, mine mainly work around my headcanon pairing of PD and Jasper and to be fair, they make sense, but they're so convoluted I doubt they're legit)

Of course! There are many ways to tell a story. I think pearl knew that Steven knew stuff. And how would you tell someone if you can't be saying anything? By showing pictures. And memories are basically pictures stored in the brain! It is pretty obvious when you think about it.

That kind of confirms my "theory" that Pearl cant actually summon a weapon (since shes not a Quartz) but rather stores a bunch of spears in her gemstone and simply pulls one out whenever she needs one. (I know there are holes in this theory but i think it makes sense)
It is indeed weird that the seal doesn't work inside of her. But i think that since gems are similar to AI, maybe an analogy to computers would explain why Steven was able to see this blocked part of Pearl. With his empathic powers he could access the gem, like a hacker to the CPU/software, without the need of a master access or password. So, even if her hardware (the action of Pearl talking) doesn't let a breach because of a command, Steven can access it with his unique set of abilities.

Maybe the seal only works when she tries to outright say it or write it? maybe the seal cant suppress memories so when steven goes through them the barrier is ineffective, because who would prepare for someone entering their gem, something that most likely hasnt been doable by gems
I have soooo many Steven Universe questions. Like, Did Rebecca Sugar have a story line in her head as to how Steven Universe plays out, or is it just written as it comes to her? Does Home World have a Real Name? When was the cluster put in the earth? Will steven ever get older? Where did the Diamonds Originate? What is Home Wolrd all about? Will steven live forever? Whathappens to his Gem if he dies? Does Rose come back?

My idea as to why MAYBE her seal is off inside her gem is because (if we're following along the trauma/PTSD trajectory for Pearl) we're inside her. Simple, I know. XD Let me explain: it's really hard sometimes to make someone understand what flashbacks and trauma are like because they are such an individual experience. Unless one was that exact person, it's impossible to know. Descriptions of the pain felt, memories played back, the self fractured are so hard to render in words. However, Steven gets to go inside Pearl's mind, so he gets to look at her pain and trauma the way her mind has encoded it. Therefore, all seals are off because these are the memories Pearl sees and doesn't have to explain (in my scenario Pearl's seal would be due to trauma and perhaps a command to not speak of it vs. just a command not to speak of it). Regardless of the explanation, I'm very glad that the crew was able to enter this level of depth to the episode, as well as a big reveal (we hope).
I think the revelation might be that rose and pink diamond where the same. I know it has been said a lot, but what makes me say that here is the new design of pink diamond's gem, have you noticed that, viewed from the top, it looks exactly like a rose quartz? Also, since I've watched the episode in which Steven was a baby, I can't stop thinking pearl didn't remove the gem from steven's belly because the others would have then noticed that it's not a quartz but actually a diamond...
What if all the gems bubbled in the temple and the rest left around earth were all of roses army/abandoned homeworld gems and that's why they are bubbled and kept safe in the base.
Well, if pearls are meant to hold their owners stuff, and our pearl did used to belong to a diamond, then couldn't she still have things that belonged to them stored away in there? If the whole "pink diamond wasn't really shattered" theory pans out, could her gem be stored away in there? Or if she was shattered, could the shards be in there? If a gems gem is stored away in a pearl, can it reform inside of there if not bubbled? IDK I guess my brain ran away with that one...
I'm pretty sure the "gun" is a lighter? And the multi-colours always remind me of mother of pearl or iridescence versus her possibly belonging to all of the diamonds. But I am SO excited for these two episodes.

With Pearls line "I wished I could tell you sooner." I think that she sent Steven into her gem, not to find her phone but to give him information because he started asking questions. And she might've known that he wouldn't find the phone in there and so would continue searching. Why I think that "memory Pearl" was inside "organisation Pearl" is maybe because she keeps up the facade of being neat and orderly (not that she isn't neat but you get me) to hide all of her memories deep down, in order not to spill or break. And as for the seal not working inside her gem, I think the seal only works on her physical form - as though it were a type of casing? over the top of her gem. So if you were to go inside the gem, past the 'casing', she'd be able to talk about the diamonds. So even if WD has mind powers(? i think thats the conclusion the fandom has come to), they're only able to affect the physical form, not inside the gem. Idk, these are all just random thoughts ^^;;;;
Maybe Pearl can tell Steven inside her gem because no one ever thought of a gem being able to go inside of another gem so that the seal only works if she physically speaks it and not mentally thinks it
I actually think that the seal does take place with the Pearl in her gem just maybe to a lesser extent. She can talk about the war and some small diamond details but she can't say anything she is not supposed to say.

Theory:
What ifffff pearl took roses sword to SHATTER pink diamond and when she did the business maybe she left the sword in the palinqeen [sorry I don't no how to spell it :( ] and then rose went in the palinqeen to see what happened and then sees pink shattered and then picks her sword up THEN maybe eyeball (one of the ruby's) saw rose in the palinqeen with a shattered diamond and a sword and that's why she thinks it's rose who did it.... BLEH idk please all you ladies and gentlemen tell me what you think of my theory :) -Anastasia
Rose's sword can't shatter a gem Bismuth said that, we don't know what could have shatter gem's, we saw Amethyst crack her gem on a rock. but her gem class is lower class, while diamonds are very strong
You almost spelled it right- it's spelled 'palanquin' and I've seen much worse on the internet. Nice theory! I doubt this will be what happens, but it certainly ties everything up nicely, including why Rose was inside Pink's palanquin at all. I don't know why they're putting so much emphasis on Rose's sword since we've already established it can't shatter gems, but clearly it was important to the plot somehow. We'll just have to keep thinking about it...

Don't worry, everyone forgets that Rose's sword can't shatter gems. Still, it must be important somehow, or they'd stop showing it to us in these scenes. It's taking a long time for the show to prove this point- Bismuth mentioned the sword couldn't shatter gems in what, season three? I think the sword is important, very important, just maybe not in the way people think it is.
(Also yours is hardly the strangest theory out there, I mean, mine mainly work around my headcanon pairing of PD and Jasper and to be fair, they make sense, but they're so convoluted I doubt they're legit)

Hey Slice, I think the Pearl 'mouth seal' thing reminds me of Psyche Locks from this game/anime called Phoenix Wright. They do this thing where using a magic taliman of some sort, you go inside a persons head and open up locks and chains that free the truth from their minds

Of course! There are many ways to tell a story. I think pearl knew that Steven knew stuff. And how would you tell someone if you can't be saying anything? By showing pictures. And memories are basically pictures stored in the brain! It is pretty obvious when you think about it.

It's interesting that you saw it as a point in later in the episode because I was confused by how he got transported there by Amethyst and Pearl playing with the phone!
That kind of confirms my "theory" that Pearl cant actually summon a weapon (since shes not a Quartz) but rather stores a bunch of spears in her gemstone and simply pulls one out whenever she needs one.
(I know there are holes in this theory but i think it makes sense)
Non-quartzes do have weapons (Like Garnet and Ruby) But I agree that pearl just stores hers in her gem.
All gems can summon a weapon.

It is indeed weird that the seal doesn't work inside of her. But i think that since gems are similar to AI, maybe an analogy to computers would explain why Steven was able to see this blocked part of Pearl.
With his empathic powers he could access the gem, like a hacker to the CPU/software, without the need of a master access or password. So, even if her hardware (the action of Pearl talking) doesn't let a breach because of a command, Steven can access it with his unique set of abilities.
omg i remember when that bird monster swallowed pearl's spear, now we know why she even cared- she has a limited amount. we can see she lost some others too. clearly bismuth made each of them a set of several identical weapons. also when a gem poofs does this mean they go here? :0
Perhaps pick diamond is bubbled and/or stored in roses gem, and that is why he has access to her memories.
Maybe the seal only works when she tries to outright say it or write it? maybe the seal cant suppress memories so when steven goes through them the barrier is ineffective, because who would prepare for someone entering their gem, something that most likely hasnt been doable by gems
I have soooo many Steven Universe questions. Like, Did Rebecca Sugar have a story line in her head as to how Steven Universe plays out, or is it just written as it comes to her? Does Home World have a Real Name? When was the cluster put in the earth? Will steven ever get older? Where did the Diamonds Originate? What is Home Wolrd all about? Will steven live forever? Whathappens to his Gem if he dies? Does Rose come back?

In the episode were pearl is training Connie she pulls out bandages from her gem. Is all the things she is keeping can be summoned out of her gem?
My idea as to why MAYBE her seal is off inside her gem is because (if we're following along the trauma/PTSD trajectory for Pearl) we're inside her. Simple, I know. XD
Let me explain: it's really hard sometimes to make someone understand what flashbacks and trauma are like because they are such an individual experience. Unless one was that exact person, it's impossible to know. Descriptions of the pain felt, memories played back, the self fractured are so hard to render in words.
However, Steven gets to go inside Pearl's mind, so he gets to look at her pain and trauma the way her mind has encoded it. Therefore, all seals are off because these are the memories Pearl sees and doesn't have to explain (in my scenario Pearl's seal would be due to trauma and perhaps a command to not speak of it vs. just a command not to speak of it).
Regardless of the explanation, I'm very glad that the crew was able to enter this level of depth to the episode, as well as a big reveal (we hope).

I think the revelation might be that rose and pink diamond where the same. I know it has been said a lot, but what makes me say that here is the new design of pink diamond's gem, have you noticed that, viewed from the top, it looks exactly like a rose quartz? Also, since I've watched the episode in which Steven was a baby, I can't stop thinking pearl didn't remove the gem from steven's belly because the others would have then noticed that it's not a quartz but actually a diamond...
What if all the gems bubbled in the temple and the rest left around earth were all of roses army/abandoned homeworld gems and that's why they are bubbled and kept safe in the base.

Well, if pearls are meant to hold their owners stuff, and our pearl did used to belong to a diamond, then couldn't she still have things that belonged to them stored away in there? If the whole "pink diamond wasn't really shattered" theory pans out, could her gem be stored away in there? Or if she was shattered, could the shards be in there? If a gems gem is stored away in a pearl, can it reform inside of there if not bubbled? IDK I guess my brain ran away with that one...
I'm pretty sure the "gun" is a lighter? And the multi-colours always remind me of mother of pearl or iridescence versus her possibly belonging to all of the diamonds. But I am SO excited for these two episodes.
Maybe Pearl is blocking herself from speaking because of the trauma... like even if it's still like the theorized White Diamond mind control... maybe it continues to hold because Pearl maybe repressed memories. And maybe Steven entering her gem/mind opens the floodgates, breaks the seal on her, and she's more capable of talking about the negative sides of the war, and of Homeworld
With Pearls line "I wished I could tell you sooner." I think that she sent Steven into her gem, not to find her phone but to give him information because he started asking questions. And she might've known that he wouldn't find the phone in there and so would continue searching. Why I think that "memory Pearl" was inside "organisation Pearl" is maybe because she keeps up the facade of being neat and orderly (not that she isn't neat but you get me) to hide all of her memories deep down, in order not to spill or break. And as for the seal not working inside her gem, I think the seal only works on her physical form - as though it were a type of casing? over the top of her gem. So if you were to go inside the gem, past the 'casing', she'd be able to talk about the diamonds. So even if WD has mind powers(? i think thats the conclusion the fandom has come to), they're only able to affect the physical form, not inside the gem. Idk, these are all just random thoughts ^^;;;;

I actually think that the seal does take place with the Pearl in her gem just maybe to a lesser extent. She can talk about the war and some small diamond details but she can't say anything she is not supposed to say.
