I mean, Amethyst shapeshifts all the time, and Garnet shapeshifted into Steven a couple times, and Steven's done that "cat fingers" thing, so that definitely means Rose could do it. Pearl even refused to shapeshift with the whole "Steven tag" thing...

Although you probably meant that as a joke, I would love if something like that ended up happening. It would’ve been led up to with Steven and the Stevens, and it is unexpected. They would tease all the possibilities and then ‘boom’ something happens and Steven shatters Pink Diamond.
That still doesnt explain why Pearl covers her mouth in that unnatural way! Also, I always wondered why after thousands of years of Pearl adoring Rose how it seems like Rose is oblivious to it. Maybe Rose doesnt like that she shattered Pink or something? Maybe Rose really HAS never shattered a gem, which is why she would bubble Bismuth, and she couldnt stand that Pearl did it (forgotten, but not forgiven).

Ok I have theory but I'm going to make it a little simple what if Pearl was going to shatter pink did shapeshift was ready and everything but didn't (maybe talked out or something or changed her mind and the song comes on)and leaves.But that someone saw Pearl (eyeball?)thought it was rose and when pink diamond was shattered rose was blamed?
It kind of makes sense because that would explain why Pearl get so nervous about this matter. Maybe it’s because she still feels guilty for turning Rose into a criminal. (Still doesn’t answer who the hell shattered Pink, tho. Pearl might have seen it.)
Still sticking with the Rose = PD theory. Rose was an alternate persona for PD, she had her Pearl (our Pearl) eventually "shatter" her in front of folks so that when she reformed later, as Rose, she could continue the struggle.
There's no reason to believe that a gem is oriented the same way with every regeneration of a gem. Rose's gem looks like a traditional cut diamond when viewed from the top, whereas PD's is one viewed from the side. It could be the same gem from a different angle.
*-Rose shattered pink diamond:* doesn't make sense from a narrative standpoint because then what would be the point of this whole "murder mystery" if we were told the truth from the beginning *-yellow shattered pink diamond:* way too obvious and we already know yellow cares about her she even cried just thinking about her there's no way she did it *-white shattered pink diamond:* no way they wouldn't introduce a character at the last minute with almost no development at all and then say she was the culprit of this mystery seems to much like an ex machina situation and there's little to no evedince for it *-blue shattered pink diamond:* no *-pink shattered herself:* I think suicide may be a bit too dark of a theme to introduce to show... *-pink diamond is still alive:* that would ruin everything about the mystery that has been established so far and would make so many episodes seemingly pointless if she was alive the whole time *-pink pearl shattered pink diamond:* same reason white diamond wouldn't work *-Rose is pink diamond:* no *-pearl shattered pink diamond:* as much as I hate to say it, this one seems to make the most sense as far as the narrative goes it could there's some good evidence and some really interesting things they could do with pearls character so for now I'm going to stick with this theory buuuuut then again the new episodes could also debunk the theory so we'll wait and see I guess
It would feel so counter productive to Rose's entire development as a character though. She was made interesting because she was made to be this morally grey character who could make tough choices and had to live with guilt knowing it was the right thing to do. If she had nothing to do with the shattering, you're just undoing all that. And she goes back to being this perfect benevolent angel that can do no wrong. I think the best angle would be for there to be many characters involved. It was staged by some Crystal Gem who was infiltrating homeworld as a double agent, Pearl was there and helped fight, and Rose dealt the final blow.
She is still a morally grey character either way in my opinion. She hid away Bismuth. While she made Steven, she also left everyone else. She left Steven to deal with her plentiful, significant mistakes that could get Steven killed in a heartbeat. Also, who says Rose had nothing to do with Pink's shattering? She still might've been involved somehow.
I have an idea. Bismith makes rose her first sword, one that is capable of shattering a gem. Rose tells her to distroy it and make a non-shatter one. Bismith puts it aside (either to keep or to distroy later) and starts working on a new sword. Pearl then steals the sword, turns into rose and shatters pink diamond. But if this is true, why would pearl frame rose, the gem she loved so dearly?
Totally speculating here, but perhaps the idea that Rose would shatter Pink to end the war was brought up (by Bismuth, perhaps) and Pearl, in love with Rose and thinking only of their life together after the war, just did the deed to end things, since Rose wasn't "strong" enough. Then, looking at Rose's character, it's not farfetched to imagine a tearful Rose finding out and asking Pearl if she did that for her sake, and for Earth, then bearing that burden without question, so Pearl never had to.
Alaisha Stodghill that's a good one. If she did do it, it was out of blinding love. She could have been to scared do it by herself, truning into rose as a form of empowerment. "To be brave like rose you would have to be rose". Pearl would have done anything to make rose proud of her, then with a suggestion from bismith (who is not past shattering to get things done and gems out of the way). But then that brings up the next question: how was she able to get pink so close to her and away from her defenses? Did pink tell her forces to stand down, to take the "pale rose" on to end the rebellion leader her self? But her saphier would have for seen this out come of pink shattering, so did pink(in a bratty pompus mindset) ignor her?
It makes so much sense now When pearl covered her mouth she was trying to tell Steven she shattered pink diamond. Also this is why she doesn't like to shapeshift.
Maybe that’s why Pearl doesn’t shape shift anymore. She seems disgusted by the idea because so long ago she used that power to take a gem’s life, something Rose would have never wanted. She felt so guilty, she swore never to shape shift again.
I'm somewhat excited, but this show has dangled revelations in front of our noses before without revealing much at all, so I'm not gonna hype myself up too much.
White Diamond wanted the rebellion dead. White Diamond wanted Pink Diamond dead. Pearl poofed and captured. White mind controlled pearl, forced her to shape shift into Rose, made sure none of Pink's guard were nearby except enough to be EYE witnesses of "Rose" shattering Pink. And she made sure Pearl could never tell anyone about it. Pearl did shatter Pink. Kind of. White is the murderer. I agree, what this episode is trying to do, as you can tell by the blatentness of Pearl in center stage of the promo, is trick both us and Steven that Pearl purposely killed Pink. That's my theory, and i'm sticking to it, for now. What I REALLY want to see at this point is more diamond flashbacks. I want to know if Pink had to constantly shapeshift into that taller, more imposing form. I want to know what Pink and White's relationship was like, and what kind of conflict could have led to the White is the murderer theory so much of the fandom such as myself shares. OMG! huge! it explains why ruby (eyeball) saw pink shattered, why garnet saw pink shattered, how rose insisted on not using a gem shattering weapon, and how rose managed to protect her, garnet, and pearl against the corruption light!!!! can I spoil it here?
Not sure if you were able to see the new Spanish Trailer (or if there’s an equivalent in English), but I just saw it and there was some important dialogue with Pink Diamond. I couldn’t recognize the character by their voice (I don’t watch the Spanish version), but they were all directed to pink. The three main quotes I haven’t heard before were “While you’re there to govern, the colony will be complete” “show them that this small insurgence doesn’t effect you” and finally “that rose quartz can’t hurt you” Hope those translations help!
To be honest i think Pearl merely poofed Pink Diamond. I think White or Yellow diamond found her gem and just... Shattered her. Then since everyone else saw "rose quartz" attack Pink its easy to pin her being shattered by "Rose"

A few things, the episode is going to be a red herring, the silhouette has pearls first design, the one depicted in the key chain and second, the scabbard was lost in the final battle preceding the shattering of pink diamond, so the scene with pearl and the sword is probably from when pearl and rose first met, this means 2 things, bismuth joined before pearl, ergo making the sword and pearl belonged to pink diamond, since that would explain why the moon orb has the recording in the first place.
What if it was all just the way of keeping pink diamond alive but not shattering her and later on she goes and has a kid like rose why don't you even think of this cuz that seems likely since she was so fond of each humans in the human Zoo what she became so fond of them just like rose that she ended up falling in love with one AKa I Diamond Steven
Ok, here's something interesting, pink isn't a real color, its really an anomaly in the light spectrum meant to be green. With this in mind with pink diamond being defective, i believe pink diamond was originally supposed to be green and normal.
I wish you'd make a character analysis of Lapis, just based off what you said that it's as if she's back in her mirror while being on the moon. That was gold. I give up on figuring out Pearl and Rose stuff. I just think it's going to be on how the two meet. And maybe we'll actually see a truer state of Rose...hopefully.

I actually agree. I think Pearl shapeshifting into Rose and shattering Pink Diamond is a fantastic theory and could easily be canon. Maybe Pearl was about to fight PD and PD didn't see her yet. She didn't want to take all the credit of taking PD down by herself so she quickly shapeshifted into Rose and fought PD. NOTICE HOW HER GEM WOULD ACTUALLY BE COVERED BY ROSES HAIR. Also, maybe Pearl thought that PD could notice that Pearls coloration was off so she would think that that Rose was just a defective Quartz and they wouldn't get in trouble. Just in case, every Rose Quartz soldier was poofed on Homeworld. That's when Rose knew she couldn't go on not being found and decided it was time to have a baby. I'm easily jumping to conclusions but it's all good.
Pink Diamond its not exactly framing her my diamond... you know... shattering you would give Rose's rebelion a whole lot more recognition so... Pearl shifting into Rose actually gave Rose credit of being shown as someone powerful enough to take down a Diamond
i don't agree with the idea of pearl shattering pink diamond remember that rose kept secrets even from pearl so it could be possible and i'm strongly thinking that the whole shattering was all a staged performance by rose and her diamond who shared a deep bond and in actually pink diamond was the real spark of the rebellion and i know about garnet's flashback but it was vague and most of it was filled with shadows and she was not present when the "shattering" took place and would not have known that roses sword was not able to shatter gems only poof them it could be that pink is hiding out somewhere and steven will find her by seeing everything that happened to her and what went down between her and rose and then he will question the gems so yeah that's my theory.

And just if someone is wondering about my 'theory' (probably no one will) so this is it. I think that Pink Diamond was getting mad because of the Diamonds not letting her get her own colony and stuff like that. She could have shapeshifted into 'Rose Quartz' so could like get freedom or be closer in a way to her gems i guess. So anyways, maybe at one point she got really tired of being bossed around by the Diamonds that she would shapeshift into 'Rose Quartz' to get away from it all. In the episode where Garnet tells Steven about how Ruby and Sapphire met, Rose Quartz and Pearl attack Blue Diamond and her court. I think that the Rose Quartz in that episode is actually Pink Diamond shapeshifted. Eventually . . . Pink Diamond got so tired of being with the Diamonds that she faked her own shattering and ran away as Rose Quartz.

I do think Pearl might be involved in the shattering. During the trial, they mentioned Pink Diamond left the Palanquin because someone who she trusted, called out for her. “Where was her Pearl?” Also, Pearl had pink hair and a similar outfit to Pink Diamond.

What if the moon orb can also project the past and they use it to find out what happened to pink diamond. The reason the diamonds didn't use it is because it was near earth and it was the only one, sorta like hessonite's prism. They also didn't want to start another pointless war and re create memories. Makes sense, right?
In same old world Lapis stated that she wanted to go but that she then realized that she had nowhere to go. Meaning she cant return to Homeworld. The question i am asking myself is: Why? Why cant she return to Homeworld? She never did anything wrong. She was trapped and left behind on earth. Its not her fault that she ended up with the crystal gems. The only thing that may labels her as an outcast in the eyes of Homeworld is the fact that she did cross fusion with Jasper. But noone knows about that. And Jasper is now bubbled so she cant rat her out aswell. So whats keeping her from just going back home?
See, the thing is, she was on that mission with Jasper and Peridot back in the episode "The Return." If her diamond (presumably blue Diamond) were to have asked her what happened on that mission and asked what took so long, she'd have to tell them what happened to the other two gems and that would be very problematic since Jasper is now corrupted and Peridot is a crystal gem.. And we ALL know how the Diamonds feels about cross-fusion in general, imagine if Lapis had to tell her "Hey, sooo Jasper and I were fused for a while in the ocean". And Lapis DEFINITELY can't tell them about Peridot, that'd be an immediate red flag for them if Lapis were to point out that she was practically playing house with one of the crystal gems. If Lapis were to tell them that she was trapped in the mirror, it'll lead to the question of how she got out. Another question that can't be answered since Steven was the one who did it AND THEN it'll prompt them to ask her where Steven is and it could essentially lead into another "The Return" incident anyways. Not to mention if Lapis were to refuse to answer any questions or worse: Lie to the Diamonds (Sapphire's lie in "That'll be all" doesn't count because she got lucky, if Lapis were to lie about her situation, they'd see right through it.) She would most definitely be shattered in an instant. So basically she'd be pretty much screwed.
Lovelyduckly She can just lie about everything. Well not lie but rather leave everything problematic out. Theres no one to prove her wrong so i dont know how the diamonds would "see right through it". For example: "Wheres the Peridot and the Jasper?" "Jasper got defeated by the crystal gems which caused her to corrupt and Peridot betrayed us and switched sides." "Who released you from the mirror?" "It was Rose Quartz. She found, released me and also healed my gem (or she could just not mention her gem beeing cracked in the first place)." "Wheres she now?" "She surrendered herself to us so I assume shes here." And so on. You see a pattern? Theres no problem with just leaving everything out or saying "I dont know" , because how would they know that she does indeed know? And even if they could see if shes lying she can just betray everyone, reveal all her knowlede and beg for mercy. Im sure that would work. In Lapis eyes they would all die anyway because a war against the Diamonds is unwinnable. So ratting them out wouldnt really change that much. It would only get them killed sooner than later.

That would be a huge twist lol There are major flaws with this obviously, but here are some interesting points that come to my mind -Gems wouldn't really worry about a human, so the human could get close -Humans can use swords -Pink Diamond seemed to be curious about humans, so she may not have been expecting one to suddenly turn violent and attack her -White Diamond, assuming she does in fact have mind manipulation powers, could have rewritten in the human as Rose to protect the reputation of the Diamonds -A human could have dressed up to look like Rose from a distance -Rose could have teamed up with a human Dunno, just an interesting thought

The gems are different
There's no reason to believe that a gem is oriented the same way with every regeneration of a gem. Rose's gem looks like a traditional cut diamond when viewed from the top, whereas PD's is one viewed from the side. It could be the same gem from a different angle.

It would feel so counter productive to Rose's entire development as a character though. She was made interesting because she was made to be this morally grey character who could make tough choices and had to live with guilt knowing it was the right thing to do. If she had nothing to do with the shattering, you're just undoing all that. And she goes back to being this perfect benevolent angel that can do no wrong. I think the best angle would be for there to be many characters involved. It was staged by some Crystal Gem who was infiltrating homeworld as a double agent, Pearl was there and helped fight, and Rose dealt the final blow.
She is still a morally grey character either way in my opinion. She hid away Bismuth. While she made Steven, she also left everyone else. She left Steven to deal with her plentiful, significant mistakes that could get Steven killed in a heartbeat. Also, who says Rose had nothing to do with Pink's shattering? She still might've been involved somehow.

I have an idea. Bismith makes rose her first sword, one that is capable of shattering a gem. Rose tells her to distroy it and make a non-shatter one. Bismith puts it aside (either to keep or to distroy later) and starts working on a new sword. Pearl then steals the sword, turns into rose and shatters pink diamond. But if this is true, why would pearl frame rose, the gem she loved so dearly?

Totally speculating here, but perhaps the idea that Rose would shatter Pink to end the war was brought up (by Bismuth, perhaps) and Pearl, in love with Rose and thinking only of their life together after the war, just did the deed to end things, since Rose wasn't "strong" enough. Then, looking at Rose's character, it's not farfetched to imagine a tearful Rose finding out and asking Pearl if she did that for her sake, and for Earth, then bearing that burden without question, so Pearl never had to.
Alaisha Stodghill that's a good one. If she did do it, it was out of blinding love. She could have been to scared do it by herself, truning into rose as a form of empowerment. "To be brave like rose you would have to be rose". Pearl would have done anything to make rose proud of her, then with a suggestion from bismith (who is not past shattering to get things done and gems out of the way). But then that brings up the next question: how was she able to get pink so close to her and away from her defenses? Did pink tell her forces to stand down, to take the "pale rose" on to end the rebellion leader her self? But her saphier would have for seen this out come of pink shattering, so did pink(in a bratty pompus mindset) ignor her?

I want to know if Pink had to constantly shapeshift into that taller, more imposing form. I want to know what Pink and White's relationship was like, and what kind of conflict could have led to the White is the murderer theory so much of the fandom such as myself shares. Not sure if you were able to see the new Spanish Trailer (or if there’s an equivalent in English), but I just saw it and there was some important dialogue with Pink Diamond. I couldn’t recognize the character by their voice (I don’t watch the Spanish version), but they were all directed to pink. The three main quotes I haven’t heard before were “While you’re there to govern, the colony will be complete” “show them that this small insurgence doesn’t effect you” and finally “that rose quartz can’t hurt you” Hope those translations help!
To be honest i think Pearl merely poofed Pink Diamond. I think White or Yellow diamond found her gem and just... Shattered her. Then since everyone else saw "rose quartz" attack Pink its easy to pin her being shattered by "Rose"

A few things, the episode is going to be a red herring, the silhouette has pearls first design, the one depicted in the key chain and second, the scabbard was lost in the final battle preceding the shattering of pink diamond, so the scene with pearl and the sword is probably from when pearl and rose first met, this means 2 things, bismuth joined before pearl, ergo making the sword and pearl belonged to pink diamond, since that would explain why the moon orb has the recording in the first place.
What if it was all just the way of keeping pink diamond alive but not shattering her and later on she goes and has a kid like rose why don't you even think of this cuz that seems likely since she was so fond of each humans in the human Zoo what she became so fond of them just like rose that she ended up falling in love with one AKa I Diamond Steven

Maybe Pearl was about to fight PD and PD didn't see her yet. She didn't want to take all the credit of taking PD down by herself so she quickly shapeshifted into Rose and fought PD.

i don't agree with the idea of pearl shattering pink diamond remember that rose kept secrets even from pearl so it could be possible and i'm strongly thinking that the whole shattering was all a staged performance by rose and her diamond who shared a deep bond and in actually pink diamond was the real spark of the rebellion and i know about garnet's flashback but it was vague and most of it was filled with shadows and she was not present when the "shattering" took place and would not have known that roses sword was not able to shatter gems only poof them it could be that pink is hiding out somewhere and steven will find her by seeing everything that happened to her and what went down between her and rose and then he will question the gems so yeah that's my theory.

And just if someone is wondering about my 'theory' (probably no one will) so this is it. I think that Pink Diamond was getting mad because of the Diamonds not letting her get her own colony and stuff like that. She could have shapeshifted into 'Rose Quartz' so could like get freedom or be closer in a way to her gems i guess. So anyways, maybe at one point she got really tired of being bossed around by the Diamonds that she would shapeshift into 'Rose Quartz' to get away from it all. In the episode where Garnet tells Steven about how Ruby and Sapphire met, Rose Quartz and Pearl attack Blue Diamond and her court. I think that the Rose Quartz in that episode is actually Pink Diamond shapeshifted. Eventually . . . Pink Diamond got so tired of being with the Diamonds that she faked her own shattering and ran away as Rose Quartz.

What if the moon orb can also project the past and they use it to find out what happened to pink diamond. The reason the diamonds didn't use it is because it was near earth and it was the only one, sorta like hessonite's prism. They also didn't want to start another pointless war and re create memories. In same old world Lapis stated that she wanted to go but that she then realized that she had nowhere to go. Meaning she cant return to Homeworld.
The question i am asking myself is: Why? Why cant she return to Homeworld?
She never did anything wrong. She was trapped and left behind on earth. Its not her fault that she ended up with the crystal gems.
The only thing that may labels her as an outcast in the eyes of Homeworld is the fact that she did cross fusion with Jasper. But noone knows about that. And Jasper is now bubbled so she cant rat her out aswell.
So whats keeping her from just going back home?
See, the thing is, she was on that mission with Jasper and Peridot back in the episode "The Return." If her diamond (presumably blue Diamond) were to have asked her what happened on that mission and asked what took so long, she'd have to tell them what happened to the other two gems and that would be very problematic since Jasper is now corrupted and Peridot is a crystal gem.. And we ALL know how the Diamonds feels about cross-fusion in general, imagine if Lapis had to tell her "Hey, sooo Jasper and I were fused for a while in the ocean".
And Lapis DEFINITELY can't tell them about Peridot, that'd be an immediate red flag for them if Lapis were to point out that she was practically playing house with one of the crystal gems.
If Lapis were to tell them that she was trapped in the mirror, it'll lead to the question of how she got out. Another question that can't be answered since Steven was the one who did it AND THEN it'll prompt them to ask her where Steven is and it could essentially lead into another "The Return" incident anyways.
Not to mention if Lapis were to refuse to answer any questions or worse: Lie to the Diamonds (Sapphire's lie in "That'll be all" doesn't count because she got lucky, if Lapis were to lie about her situation, they'd see right through it.) She would most definitely be shattered in an instant.
So basically she'd be pretty much screwed.

She can just lie about everything. Well not lie but rather leave everything problematic out. Theres no one to prove her wrong so i dont know how the diamonds would "see right through it".
For example:
"Wheres the Peridot and the Jasper?"
"Jasper got defeated by the crystal gems which caused her to corrupt and Peridot betrayed us and switched sides."
"Who released you from the mirror?"
"It was Rose Quartz. She found, released me and also healed my gem (or she could just not mention her gem beeing cracked in the first place)."
"Wheres she now?"
"She surrendered herself to us so I assume shes here."
And so on. You see a pattern? Theres no problem with just leaving everything out or saying "I dont know" , because how would they know that she does indeed know?
And even if they could see if shes lying she can just betray everyone, reveal all her knowlede and beg for mercy. Im sure that would work. In Lapis eyes they would all die anyway because a war against the Diamonds is unwinnable. So ratting them out wouldnt really change that much. It would only get them killed sooner than later.

i actually thought of the same thing.Single pale rose litterally means that homeworld gems saw a pale rose meaning it was possible that pearl was the one who shatterred pink diamond using her shapeshifting power.
I just realized something, maybe in i am my mom when pearl was crying and covering up her mouth she was trying to say that she shattered pink to Steven to make him not go but she couldn’t say it for that reason.

What if Pink Diamond was shattered by a human. That would be a huge twist lol
There are major flaws with this obviously, but here are some interesting points that come to my mind
-Gems wouldn't really worry about a human, so the human could get close
-Humans can use swords
-Pink Diamond seemed to be curious about humans, so she may not have been expecting one to suddenly turn violent and attack her
-White Diamond, assuming she does in fact have mind manipulation powers, could have rewritten in the human as Rose to protect the reputation of the Diamonds
-A human could have dressed up to look like Rose from a distance
-Rose could have teamed up with a human
