actually, jin and jimin actively discouraged going on this diet. actually, jimin (most likely) had an eating disorder due to extreme dieting during the bs&t era, so much so that he actually passed out during practices a few times. it's important to clarify that they do not encourage going on this diet, and that bts no longer diets, and not to put idols in a box.
ainsley exe i don’t think it was her intention to make it seem like idols supported these extreme diets. She knew the consequences of these diets, and probably figured out that these idols definitely experienced them and turned away from these diets (like Junín)
ill tell you my story with this diet. feel free to read. i tried this diet because i was feeling very self conscious and had no confidence whatsoever (i still dont). i hated my body too (i still do). anyway, i would skip the apple for breakfast, have the sweet potato for lunch, and then have an apple and some water for dinner. this is what started my eating disorder. i lost about 10-15 pounds (about 9 kilos i think) in just 1 and a half weeks. but my family started noticing something was up and started forcing me to eat (well, making me feel guilty for not eating so i would eat something) and told me all of the bad things that came from basically starving myself with this diet. i started eating more, but i still went down more. about 8 more pounds (3-4 kilos i think). this diet KILLED me and my metabolism. i got dizzy from the lack of food, i could see and count some of my ribs all the time, no matter what position i was in. my stomach constantly hurt from hunger and growled all the time. i was so tired, and i felt sick 24/7. i got irritated more easily, i felt weaker, and when i tried to do anything active i would give out almost immediately. my grades in gym started to go down because i was so tired and malnourished. my friends started noticing that i started spacing out a lot and my balance was off, two things i barely even noticed were happening. anyway, the conclusion is, this diet is horrible. im getting better, but im still not eating much. i have this obsession with feeling hungry, like my body craves being empty because it means im losing weight, but its not as strong as before. ive started working out and i've lost about 2 pounds of fat (around 1 kilo?) and gained about 4-5 pounds of muscle (2 kilos maybe?). ive found a much healthier way of getting in shape (the iu diet wasnt even getting in shape, it was losing fat and muscle that my body needed) and im feeling a lot better. if you read this much, thanks for reading my story >
if you were wondering, im a female and 5'3.5 and i used to weigh around 128 pounds (55-60 kilos, im not good at math), my lowest weight with the iu diet was 105.1 pounds (45-50 kilos) . i now weigh 107.4 pounds (45-50 kilos)
@@hosseokjin8685 with your height and weight as reference, you are very likely to look great in person. Be confident and have faith in yourself. You are even smart enough to realize the diet you were having was diminishing your health. There are people who can't realize that until they end up in hospital. This is my first time leaving a comment after being years on youtube, I hope this puts something in you. Search for "amazons workout wonder woman" in youtube, I think the 5 mins clip is one of the best in bringing out female empowerment message.
clarification: jin & jimin didnt encourage this diet,, they actually told fans to stay away from dieting and to eat well :)) they also said they would never do this particular diet again
Honestly, just a few of idols have perfect skin. Most of them have bad skin due to makeup and harsh routine. Most of Their skins just like Hollywood stars
Exactly how are they going to do a video that covers BTS' diet (which literally no one outside of their fandom has talked about) and not cover the infamous IU diet.
dunalenbratinella I wouldn’t call it “ridiculous” I think “extensive” would be better suited. They are one of the leading counties in Skincare, deemed by many dermatologists outside of S.Korea.
starvation is not the same as anorexia. anorexia is the mental disorder that makes people afraid of gaining weight and therefor eat very little. the kpop girls dont all have anorexia, most are forced by their companies. so they dont have anorexia (the mental disorder).
I myself am a Registered Dietitian that works at a hospital, and I agree with Mascha. These diets are very extreme and will only lead to poor nutritional status, chronic illnesses, and other serious health issues. Not to mention, these idols practice and rehearse for numerous shows and concerts. They are burning a lot of energy with very little intake. I am glad some of these idols did set the record straight and really discussed their true eating habits, but at the same time the diets that were presented are very concerning. Thank you BuzzFeed for getting a true professional to review the diet plans!
just to clarify, jin and jimin do not promote this type of eating and jimin had self image issues which contributed to this diet, he struggled with this for a while. i obviously can’t read his mind but i am fairly certain that he doesn’t feel that way any more and he is more self confident. just putting that out there because i don’t want it to look like they are promoting unhealthy things.
@@yukijames1321 Jimin has actually mentioned a couple of times by now, on his personal live streams as well as on variety shows on television that he would never recommend anybody to go ahead with such a diet, and that it was just a result of his self-image issues, and doesn't feel like the diet was worth it at all. Jin, on the other hand, portrays himself to be a big eater now, hosting his famous live segments where he just eats different kinds of foods and appreciates it in front of the fans. None of them promoted the diets, they just shared with the fans what used to be a part of their lifestyle, which they believe was not worth it.
They put it in the video also the diet was aboiyt jin, and while Jimin is the member who is known for being strong enough to speak out about the struggles of going through the starvation diets, as we’ve seen all the boys had to go through them and while I’m sure u didn’t mean to, try not to discredit it like a lot of ppl forget that all of them starved and were malnourished and insecure. Ofc jimin was brave to speak out about it and had a bit of a breakdown about it in BST era, however I’ve noticed a lot of ppl forget about the other boys esp recently, with jhope, he’s been bony thin and I thought it was just me however even their choreographer said in an interview despite being all happy hes really weak and passes out frequently during dance practices, and nobody notices how thin he is. Sorry I typed a long ass essay I clearly have no life lmao
I'm so sad. All I could think of through this video was Momo being told to lose 15lbs/7kgs in a week, and only eating one ice cube. She was literally scared for her life... Still, I'm glad at least now she has a better relationship with food. And I hope every idol can have a good relationship with food at least eventually. Health is the most important thing!
Lymarie Guzmán Pérez Ice cubes is water and only intaking water into your body is called water fasting; which holds many great benefits and is VERY quick for weight loss. Not sustainable in the long run though, but the easiest way to lose weight first before you start eating again.
@@HelloKitty-ez5cv Nah mate. I saw a video on water fasting and you're not supposed to do heavy work outs while doing it, which is exactly what she was doing. Also, define how long "long-term" is. She did it for a week, but when she wasn't able to lose all the weight they gave her a few more days. If you go to sleep scared you might not wake up the next morning, and if other people say you look so pale and sickly that you look like you're dying, then it's *not* healthy. At least not they way she did it. Anyway, the worse thing is that it wasn't her that wanted to lose the weight. The company made her do it before her debut. The week after she ate a lot and gained the weight back.
Lymarie Guzmán Pérez TH-cam videos are not reliable resources unless it is scientifically backed up by scholarly sources/scientific claims or research by the presenter. I will not go in and dig deep into videos about the correlation of water fasting and high intensity workouts, but just taking a quick glance around TH-cam, there seems to be others working out while water fasting. Again, I’m just making an assumption. As for the phrase long term, I was not directing it towards Momo. It is a misunderstanding as I was directing this water fasting “diet” comment to those who may want to try it as a quick resolution to lose weight. I said it is not “sustainable” in the long run so people who read my comment could comprehend that into their brain and not use the fasting for the motive of losing weight. I don’t have much knowledge about Kpop since this video was in my recommendations, so I don’t have a clue of their daily life, but as performers I can understand they spend most of their time doing dance practices. If others said she looked pale and sickly then of course she is not in the best of health! I do wish the best for her health and others in this industry as well. Nice having a civil discussion with you. Merry Christmas!
@@HelloKitty-ez5cv Ah, the video was of a guy explaining how he lost weight so fast. He was basically relaying the information he was told by a professional, but I guess he could've lied? Anyway, I'd imagine that after only drinking water for a while, I'd be dangerous to work out too much because you wouldn't have much energy to use, since you aren't intaking anything with calories. But that's just my own speculation. Aah, I see. Ok, sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought you had meant it wasn't "sustainable" as in it was dangerous in the long run. English isn't my first language so I mistook what you were trying to say. And yes, they do a lot of dance practices and such. But don't worry, Momo is better now! This was back in 2015 when she was going to debut, now she has said she has a much better relationship with food and looks healthy! And I also wish the best for the health of other idols in the industry. Thanks for being civil as well and telling me more about water fasting. Merry Christmas!
Lymarie Guzmán Pérez Awe it makes me so happy that we are still able to have a nice discussion on the internet and clear out any misunderstandings of both parties😃 If you have any favorite Kpop songs I’ll be glad to check them out, hehe!
@Wahide Hyedari You can still listen to BTS even tho you're not korean. They're music (and kpop music and practically any music) can be for anyone with any race or ethnical background. And if you play the 'well thats my own opinion and its a free country so i have the right to say whatever i want' card, thats not really your opinion its more like hating. We all have our own style of music. So dont hate on other ppl's styles.
Lulala Xxxx to me at least it seems like idols aren’t told to directly to diet and lose weight, but rather they feel the need to “improve” their physical appearance for their company and of course their audience, it’s all just the pressures of fame in the industry.
Pretty sure what caused this is more from fans expectation and the standard they hold for idols....Like... ppl expect idols to look idol like but never acknowledges the dangerous diet behind o.o it's literally impossible to live normal and look idol ...
Max Rodríguez naw you’ll usually hear of like the ceo of a company or the manager of a certain group basically pushing on to the idols that they “look fat and should diet” that’s at least what happened with Jin. Other idols, like Jimin, felt pressure from the fans to look good and that the only time the fans liked them were when they were small
@@maxrodgar They are told directly from their company and staff members tbh (staff member could be anyone not just staff working IN the company, but staff for a music video etc because you gotta do fittings). In a lot of companies, group members and trainees often have "weight check-ins" where they weigh you and are pretty mean to you if you've gained any weight. Of course, fans put a lot of pressure on you as well...There's a lot of body shaming in that industry. They have so many rules and restrictions it's insane and I can't even begin to imagine how stressful it must be
Those are not diets. All those young people are forced to starve themselves. If you are following k-pop news you can constantly hear that the idols faint. That is really scary for me. What's more scary is that so many young people want to follow those 'diet'. That the is a main fact why I don't follow k-pop anymore. Please, be wise, happy and love yourselves, your body needs nutrition. If you will lose some kilograms by starvation trust me, you will gain it back like twice. Take care
I just want to clarify that most of them are not forced in to such diets, they choose for it themselves because they get mean comments from people or i know that a lot of them have eating disorders and that isn't their fault.
@@NataliaKlucha some agencies tell their idols to go on a diet, but some do it on their own without anyone forcing it. so dont make it out to be that bad. the real problem is the fans who criticise the idols if their body is not up to standards, which often makes the idol themselves want to lose weight etc.
@@bie-p1l @certifiedhoodclassic this comment was just trying to be emphatic for what jimin went through and apparently you care enough to comment under this thread lol and yeah, BTS do know we exist and frequently go out of their ways for us so maybe st fu or sumth :)
I don’t know why diets are so difficult and people go to the extreme all the time. Eat normal portions of healthy food and exercise and you’ll be fine. These idols are supposed to look sickly (way too thin) and they cover it up with makeup. Don’t follow their diets... If you’re a huge sugar fan or chocolate fan, a simple but sure way to get rid of that is habit. Slowly cut sugar out of your diet and you won’t crave it anymore. Start by having what you crave but a smaller amount and replace juice or whatever sugary drink you’re having with herbal tea and water. By reducing sugar intake, your taste buds change and you won’t crave it anymore. Even when you do end up eating that piece of chocolate later on, you will get grossed out by how sweet it is to you now. Best of luck everyone.
J-Horse eh don’t say that first part like it’s so easy tho. You don’t understand the mind of someone with a disorder that makes them want to lose weight fast. They hate their body and they want to see changes now. Just telling them to eat healthily obviously isn’t going to work. What do you think everyone else has been telling them.
Mimi T ugh there’s nothing I hate more than excuses! There are so many people with these issues that were able to get out of it by putting their minds to it and by ending their constant excuse making. I used to know this girl called Sarah Ramadan who’s a TH-camr now, she used to have a lovely body but she always used to say that she needed to lose weight. I couldn’t help her during that time but I think her boyfriend was the one who got her off her feet and introduced her to weight lifting. She’s healthy and she eats well and exercises. That’s the only solution. Is to stop making excuse and do the work! I went through the same thing. There was a period in my life where I would eat one boiled egg for the entire day and lost 10kg in 2 months which was the worst thing I’d done to myself. I got very sick afterwards and decided to stop hurting myself and just eat healthy and exercise. And now I’m better. I’m not exactly at the “perfect” weight in my mind, but slowly you learn to be okay with it as long as you’re working hard. So no, I didn’t say it was easy, but the solution is there, it’s just most people refuse to do it because it’s easier to make excuses.
@@YunJaeGDLuv Uh stop contradicting yourself. You did imply dieting and exercise is easy by saying "I don’t know why diets are so difficult (for people)." I agree that people make tons of excuses and can better themselves, but it takes hard work and life long dedication. You're just passively condescending and basically saying "dieting is not hard, just stop being fat," but then you go on about how you put in hard work to lose weight and exercised. Like I said, you're contradicting yourself.
Glorytothegood even if they accept themselves, fans will always criticize them. Like have u seen how much hate they can get just from gaining a few pounds. Its honestly really sad how rude some of them can be. Plus companies force their trainees due to the contracts they sign with them. I think a majority of them don’t want to but since they rely so much on the companies and fans, they have to. Or else, their years of training go to waste.
@@ashleygao5319 True, change needs to be societal. The truth is that K-pop is a livelihood for these artists, most have nothing to fall back on and so they take extreme measures. It's not just about self-esteem though of course self- esteem is important.
But she still has no darn clue about what happens if you keep carbs low for an extended period of time. That yes, blood sugar gets lower, and so does insulin, and your body taps more easily into your own fat stores. That kind of diet is actually used medically in morbidly obese patients and it's called an PSMF - protein-sparing modified fast. Registered dietician, my ass... Even more ironic considering how BuzzFeed made an entire video about several of their own peeps doing a quite similar diet with a workout program by a celeb coach and losing quite some BF percentage in that time and one of them reversing his diabetes. Really terrible diet, sure.
@@johapunkt3053 there's a difference between low carb and no carb. And like you said it was for supervised morbidly obese patients in a hospital setting. Not for the average person. If you were a real registered dietitian or had any schooling in the field you would know how we are trained to critically assess diets.
@@holycrudscones123 Well, judging by how Wheesung had salads with his chicken (and we don't know what else), it's hardly been a 'no carb' diet as I see it, but that's minutiae. It hasn't been stated how much chicken he had so as long as he had enough to maintain lean mass, it's fine (although a bit boring). How much 'a few almonds' actually are hasn't been clarified either, it could be 10 or 20 or more during a day. He took care of his vitamins and minerals and stayed hydrated, which is both super important because of the natriuretic character of very low carb diets. He could have done so much worse. Is it recommended as a lifestyle? Hardly, but no diet aimed at weight/fat reduction is. And funny that you ask, I actually am schooled in how to assess diets. I just prefer not to join in the choir of 'more greens, more whole grains, more movement, more willpower' and make up my own mind about what science shows and what works for people. PS: She recommends to 'balance' his foods with 'healthy whole grains' like brown rice. Seriously? Brown rice is hardly any 'better' than white rice and sends your BG and insulin soaring. That's exactly what you wouldn't want in a fat reduction diet since insulin shuts off lipolysis and the BG crash following high insulin gets you hungry faster. And lets just forget about 'healthy whole grain toast', that doesn't exist. That kind of mock bread is often enough spiked with sugar and coloured dark with malted sugar, which is great for the waistline, but not the way you might intend, so thanks, but no thanks.
Ai Victoria the IU diet consisted of For breakfast she only ate 1 apple. For lunch were 2 sweet potatoes. And for dinner was protein shake. She also did a lot of exercising.
She drank 4+ bottles of water per day. Her diet is actually legit and healthy. Search the water diet in google or whatever. Only issue is she did it for an extended period of time.
My best friend from Canada used to be an SM trainee and let me tell you, the regimen was so brutal he moved to Melbourne (He goes to a design school now) and won't go back to Korea any more even though that's his heritage. This is the price you pay for supporting corporate generated entertainment.
@@lordbongsesh3439 Its more like what they didn't let you eat... For men the regimen is less detrimental because they still need protein to keep up an athletic body, but he heard the women being brutally yelled at for eating 1g over daily amounts, or being in possession of "banned" foods. Basically snacks, degrading them for their body and appearance and self worth. So SM makes everyone that leaves them sign an NDA meaning he legally can't reveal in specifics what they've done. Also the guys couldn't be allowed to become 'too" muscular so my friend he really likes hitting the gym, they had him go through a muscle mass decreasing process which was pretty bad. For him he just said with high competition, none of the guys ever really complained even with legit zero sleep, 12 hour + training days, and restricted diets. Often times lots of his "friends" became throughly depressed but since mental illness is kind of looked down upon they wouldn't get treatment in fears of hurting their chances to be placed in a group for debut. He left in like 2015 so maybe things have changed since then but I severely doubt it, especially since SM is probably the most strict and taxing company there is.
@@riceandbeansandandoil SM literally has Shindong who has said that he wasn't forced to diet. He started losing weight after he left the military but he's still not skinny. Kyungsoo, an EXO member, has never dieted. He straight up refused to. Baekhyun, another EXO member, isn't forced to diet. Minseok and Chanyeol, again from EXO, diet of their own accord and Minseok's diet is actually pretty healthy. Sehun (poor dude has a hard time gaining weight), Kai, and Taemim, from EXO and SHINee, are naturally lean. Most of the male SM idols work out a lot and are known for it, like Siwon from Super Junior and Minho from SHINee. And most of NCT work out or are still going through puberty. SM doesn't really care about their male idols' weights, they care mostly about their female idols' weights. Some girls had to lose a lot of weight and some don't because they're naturally small. OR they fight back by refusing to diet and the company just gives up on them.
@@lordbongsesh3439 a lot of that can be credited to puberty, which like I said most of them are still going through puberty or have just come out of puberty. It can also be credited to more promotions, because they're dancing and working a lot more. Cardio slims anyone, but it really does a number on naturally lean people (like the boys of NCT). So, combine puberty with basically intense cardio and hardly any time for weight training and you'll get you some skinny boys.
Their forced to do this. It's horrific. Edit: 😂😂 Stop commenting on how they're not forced. Some companies *will* force them. Whether it be for a comeback or a stage. Or just generally. But, my general point is, they shouldn't be dieting like this. It will literally put they're heath at risk in some cases. Force was maybe not the right word 🤷🏽♀️ but they will definitely be *pushed to* and *encouraged* to diet like this, or at least some Idols will be.
Most aren't forced in terms of being told what to eat and how much to eat. Usually the company tells them to loose x amount of weight before a certain time and the idol does drastic diets to achieve the huge weightloss.
"only ate one solid meal in 10 days" this is incorrect, Jimin ate ONE meal A DAY for 10 DAYS (before quitting the diet). If he only had one meal in ten days he would be in a very unstable state

Madison M oh yeah I understand that, and like Bom I still love sweetcorn, it's always gonna be one of my favourite vegetables, I eat it a couple of times a week 😅
tbh? i believe they should do both. they can start out by dieting and slowly transition into a different lifestyle by dieting for longer each time. if someone wants to diet than they can, as long as they choose one that will give their body the nutrients they need while also helping them lose weight/ be healthier/ boost their metabolism or whatever they want to diet for. as long as it isnt putting them in danger, they can do what they want.

First of all, both Jin and jimin completly regret dieting. In fact I have never heard of jins diet. Jimins diet was from an eating disorder and body dysmorphia. he was in a really bad place and tells people not to diet like him. He now loves his body. People need to to be educated before they put these kpop idols in a box
Jin and the rest of the members also made fun of the diet in the festa skit from this year. (I think it was in that...) the skit they made where they revisited their debut days. With how Jungkook auditioned, Yoongi’s audition photo, etc. Including throwing a piece of chicken breaths at Jin, where he looked at it frightened and threw it away.

Unfortunately not everyone knows the dangers of dieting like this.. So many "miracle diets" are encouraged in todays society, it's necessary to point out their flaws as they aren't nourishing enough or give enough energy to go through a day
@@emvuosku4219 this is necessary; some people, especially young teenagers, will do these diets because they want to lose weight fast and don't understand how unhealthy and dangerous these diets are.
As a nutrition student, she's absolutely right. Food is such a huge part of our lives, why would you make it so miserable it's just not healthy for your wellbeing :/
i thought she was gonna explain the science behind why a diet would/would not work, not simply use words like "fullness, wellness, nutritious, balance, restrictive" like it's something no one's heard of. lol. what does she actually do?
Well there isn't much else to dieting. If u consume too many calories u store it as fat, if u consume less than your body uses, your body has to use fat as energy since energy has to come from somewhere . If a food makes you feel full with few calories it's easier to eat less naturally. U can diet only with sugar but u will constantly feel hungry and miss essential vitamins and minerals. The science is pretty simple. Sure there are some minor things that effect weight gain and weight loss but ultimately it just boils down to how many calories you consume vs how many calories you burn.
@@Thepokemonmies thats true but with like the banana diet I thought maybe she would explain the science behind it like how does having banana in the morning increase your metabolism and does it actually work or not but she just kinda said 'yeah its an okay diet but theres better diets out there' like ??
@@Thepokemonmies im sure there is more than just having calorific deficits or surpluses (or whatever the terminology is). either they didnt want her to talk about that cos it would be boring for the video or she literally doesn't talk about that. but personally id rather she talk about the science to come to a conclusion of the pros and cons of each diet (assuming there is some science behind it and that she knows about this science).
@@Thepokemonmies it's not all calories in and out. not everything you eat turns into fat. if you have excess sugars/carbs from foods you store it as fat, that doesn't happen with the fats you consume, unless they are in the presence of sugars. there is also a limit for protein, if you have a certain amount you will turn some of it into glucose, which added to the other sugars you have with your meal will make you store more fat, but if you are below your protein limit you will use it to rebuild the body mainly. the science is showing already that calories in and out is an outdated way to look at this, it does not account for the hormonal responses triggered by digesting each type of food and the processes that come after. Insulin is the most important one here. Also, eating smaller portions throughout the day is not the same hormonally as eating less frequently, but in bigger portions, assuming you eat the same foods in both situations.

Bom got yelled at for eating corn. lol ahahaha she eats a LOT of corn. The thing is most kpop idols only diet a few weeks before they release music for photo shoots and music video shoot. As soon as they release music and back to performing on stage, they go back to eating whatever they want.. healthy or unhealthy and just reduce the portion when needed.
it's good finally seeing a professional reviewing idol diet, because many fans **not all of them** that look up to them. Follow their diet, not knowing it's unhealthy. So this can be their information what's right to follow and what's not.
They usually only do this just before a comeback so that they look thinner in their music videos and first live performances. These diets aren’t supposed to be long term.

actually, jin and jimin actively discouraged going on this diet. actually, jimin (most likely) had an eating disorder due to extreme dieting during the bs&t era, so much so that he actually passed out during practices a few times. it's important to clarify that they do not encourage going on this diet, and that bts no longer diets, and not to put idols in a box.
ainsley exe Yes Jimin said he got carried away with dieting and got to “exited” and ended up not eating for a couple days
ainsley exe i don’t think it was her intention to make it seem like idols supported these extreme diets.
She knew the consequences of these diets, and probably figured out that these idols definitely experienced them and turned away from these diets (like Junín)

I am so confused, i didnt know IU has a diet. On the tv show "Hyori's Bed + Breakfeast" she eats a ton as is always eating candy and chocolate!?
Why didn’t you talk about the “IU diet” it goes:
One apple for breakfast
A sweet potato for lunch
And a protein shake for dinner
And a lot of water
Kookies Lilli because iu has an eating disorder and maybe they didn’t want to promote it
loses 7 pounds like JESUS
ill tell you my story with this diet. feel free to read.
i tried this diet because i was feeling very self conscious and had no confidence whatsoever (i still dont). i hated my body too (i still do). anyway, i would skip the apple for breakfast, have the sweet potato for lunch, and then have an apple and some water for dinner. this is what started my eating disorder. i lost about 10-15 pounds (about 9 kilos i think) in just 1 and a half weeks. but my family started noticing something was up and started forcing me to eat (well, making me feel guilty for not eating so i would eat something) and told me all of the bad things that came from basically starving myself with this diet. i started eating more, but i still went down more. about 8 more pounds (3-4 kilos i think).
this diet KILLED me and my metabolism. i got dizzy from the lack of food, i could see and count some of my ribs all the time, no matter what position i was in. my stomach constantly hurt from hunger and growled all the time. i was so tired, and i felt sick 24/7. i got irritated more easily, i felt weaker, and when i tried to do anything active i would give out almost immediately.
my grades in gym started to go down because i was so tired and malnourished. my friends started noticing that i started spacing out a lot and my balance was off, two things i barely even noticed were happening.
anyway, the conclusion is, this diet is horrible. im getting better, but im still not eating much. i have this obsession with feeling hungry, like my body craves being empty because it means im losing weight, but its not as strong as before. ive started working out and i've lost about 2 pounds of fat (around 1 kilo?) and gained about 4-5 pounds of muscle (2 kilos maybe?).
ive found a much healthier way of getting in shape (the iu diet wasnt even getting in shape, it was losing fat and muscle that my body needed) and im feeling a lot better.
if you read this much, thanks for reading my story >
if you were wondering, im a female and 5'3.5 and i used to weigh around 128 pounds (55-60 kilos, im not good at math), my lowest weight with the iu diet was 105.1 pounds (45-50 kilos) . i now weigh 107.4 pounds (45-50 kilos)

starvation is not the same as anorexia. anorexia is the mental disorder that makes people afraid of gaining weight and therefor eat very little. the kpop girls dont all have anorexia, most are forced by their companies. so they dont have anorexia (the mental disorder).
I am glad some of these idols did set the record straight and really discussed their true eating habits, but at the same time the diets that were presented are very concerning. just to clarify, jin and jimin do not promote this type of eating and jimin had self image issues which contributed to this diet, he struggled with this for a while. i obviously can’t read his mind but i am fairly certain that he doesn’t feel that way any more and he is more self confident. just putting that out there because i don’t want it to look like they are promoting unhealthy things.

Pretty sure that is right. I mean if you look at all k pop artists they are very small and thin if they are girls. Very thin and lean if a guy
Take care
This needs to be seen by everyone 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
I just want to clarify that most of them are not forced in to such diets, they choose for it themselves because they get mean comments from people or i know that a lot of them have eating disorders and that isn't their fault.
@@kirsten.k I understand that if they denied to 'diet' like this they would be kicked out from their job lol
@@NataliaKlucha some agencies tell their idols to go on a diet, but some do it on their own without anyone forcing it. so dont make it out to be that bad. the real problem is the fans who criticise the idols if their body is not up to standards, which often makes the idol themselves want to lose weight etc.

J-Horse w
Nah im just lazy lol

She actually pronounced the names right! 😂💕
I'm so happy you got a REGISTERED dietitian on this one !!
Yes! And not a "nutritionist".

My best friend from Canada used to be an SM trainee and let me tell you, the regimen was so brutal he moved to Melbourne (He goes to a design school now) and won't go back to Korea any more even though that's his heritage. This is the price you pay for supporting corporate generated entertainment.
statisticallyvalidatedstereotypes yeah really? What did he have to eat?
Cynical Spyro yeah but you can’t deny NCT members have all lost so much weight and it’s kind of horrific

Momo's ice diet and Seulgi's soy milk diet????
Momo’s wasnt even a diet. It was just basically fasting. She just wasn’t doing it healthily.

jungkook_bais_ BTS for Momo would only eat ice cubes for a week to lose some weight
@@smallpanda3819 damn that is....more than way to far
this isn’t a diet it’s an eating disorder and forced starvation
@@mavel2038 Maybe not forced. But definitely encouraged to.
It was sort of their decision to be in the kpop industry knowing this sort of thing would happen.
@@legsc1 Yeah. But if they (on their own behalf) disagree, then at that point they would be forced.
@neo x culture Sorry it was a last minute thought, oof. Rather sad especially since I'm a fanfiction writer that made such a simplistic mistake.
"only ate one solid meal in 10 days" this is incorrect, Jimin ate ONE meal A DAY for 10 DAYS (before quitting the diet). If he only had one meal in ten days he would be in a very unstable state
One meal aday under 500 cal sometimes just snack which is still not enough
No he ate 1 meal in 10 days and he got health conditions for doing that.
@@Staridolmusica I know that this is how it circulated but let me say, that is pure starving and I don't think a person can survive on such a diet with accordance to the fact that they dance for long hours.
Yeah that was absolutely starving, I was very sad when I knew that they did those kinds of extreme unhealthy diets especially Jimin. The asa-banana diet actually sounds pretty good.
Tanvi Kejriwal Only a banana in the morning is a little silly though. Like what the lady said protein is important.
Stevethecameraman most days I don’t eat breakfast and I’m completely fine
Stevethecameraman carbs in the morning are most important though and bananas are packed it’s them. People eat toast for breakfast all the time and that’s full of carbs

Well that's funny, coz Park Bom's trainer didn't like it when she ate corn... you can see this on 2NE1tv.
I don't know why, but he always acted like she was stuffing her face with cake whenever she snacked on corn ¬_¬
And i don't recall her saying that she ate watermelon INSTEAD of rice, however there was an interview were she was asked what food made her the happiest & she said watermelon, because "it's better than rice".
Buzzfeed you may wanna double check your facts.. just sayin'
You're right plus I don't remember that she had to eat only one thing at first, her diet as always been eating 5 meals a day
Corn isn’t great for digestion and hormones so it’s not good for weight loss and reducing inflammation that’s why
Madison M oh right, I didn't know that 😯 thanks for telling me, finally someone has been able to explain why corn is frowned apon
Tanya - 타냐 Please don’t think corn is a food to avoid though! It’s more like corn products that are processed (chips and stuff). Plus, we should never demonize any food it’s not healthy. It’s just that everything should be in moderation.
Madison M oh yeah I understand that, and like Bom I still love sweetcorn, it's always gonna be one of my favourite vegetables, I eat it a couple of times a week 😅
Don't go on diets, change your LIFESTYLE
Agree.
tbh? i believe they should do both. they can start out by dieting and slowly transition into a different lifestyle by dieting for longer each time.
if someone wants to diet than they can, as long as they choose one that will give their body the nutrients they need while also helping them lose weight/ be healthier/ boost their metabolism or whatever they want to diet for. as long as it isnt putting them in danger, they can do what they want.
@@skuas4558 but doing a diet is pointless if you don't actually keep up with such healthy ways

Jimin’s “diet” was more of an eating disorder than a diet in my opinion
First of all, both Jin and jimin completly regret dieting. In fact I have never heard of jins diet. Jimins diet was from an eating disorder and body dysmorphia. he was in a really bad place and tells people not to diet like him. He now loves his body. People need to to be educated before they put these kpop idols in a box
Rachel Ding Jin talked about his diet when he and Jimin were on a show called “Please Take Care Of My Fridge.”
Literally when was stated that Jimin had an eating disorder and body dysmorphia ? Ohmygod stop inventing stuff
Dany ive never heard anything about him having an eating disorder or body but you have to admit that its obvious he has problems with the way he sees himself in general 🤷🏽♀️

Thanks to her that now I won't be missing any important nutrients in the name of an extreme diet.
it's a lot crazier when you consider that they're doing dance practices for 8 - 12 hours a day.
we didn’t need a dietitian to know that kpop idols diets were unhealthy
this video was kinda unnecessary lol she's just saying things that 99.9% already know
Unfortunately not everyone knows the dangers of dieting like this..
@@jasminakhavan7437 Yea. I quess she did gloss over some of that stuff.
I'm actually surprised by the fact that Jin was on a diet since he is practically in LOVE with food
as someone who went to a psychiatric ward and had to learn how to properly eat, I am very pleased by what she said because she talked about it in a healthy way
"She cried because of hunger, that's not a good sign"

The thing is most kpop idols only diet a few weeks before they release music for photo shoots and music video shoot. As soon as they release music and back to performing on stage, they go back to eating whatever they want.. healthy or unhealthy and just reduce the portion when needed.
Doesn't make it healthy
I love how she pronounces all the names correctly, not all creators bother to research and learn them
it's good finally seeing a professional reviewing idol diet, because many fans **not all of them** that look up to them. Follow their diet, not knowing it's unhealthy. So this can be their information what's right to follow and what's not.
They usually only do this just before a comeback so that they look thinner in their music videos and first live performances. These diets aren’t supposed to be long term.
