Very interesting insight into how an ADHD med holiday can make it feel stronger/work better! I just started Vyvanse a few weeks ago so hoping to not need a med holiday for long time, but good to know it may help. In terms of trying out lots of meds, totally agree. I’ve tried 3 different SSRIs, 1 SNRI, Vortioxetine (UK version of Trintellix) an MAOI, Ablify and St John’s Wort all to no avail. The winter depression just seems to get me down every year. Between winters I have persistent depressive disorder. Hoping that now I’ve been diagnosed ADHD and starting to get bit of focus and motivation/energy this may help me feel competent at a deep level through new accomplishments. In so doing hopefully this may address the root cause of my depression… Assuming it has a relatively simple root cause. Time will tell. Stay strong!
I'm at a total of 7 medications, 3 in the morning and 4 at night, that have had to be adjusted numerous times, over the course of around 6 years, I'm finally at a place with my meds where I notice improvements, but that's not without having some setbacks here and there, this morning I was sorta half asleep, and I accidentally took a few of my night time meds, my mom was freaking out, I was just like it's okay, I'm gonna sleep them off anyway, so yeah I get the whole medication thing.
I’m glad to hear you finally found a medication regimen that works for you. All medication is bound to have some side effects, but when they prod outweigh the cons, it’s worth sticking to :)

My depressive symptoms seem to worsen during winter as well, you are definitely not alone
