THANK YOU! I bought my machine new and immediately this was an issue - imagine my frustration, especailly when I found out the nearest Singer warranty service person is over 100km away and I don't own a car! Grrr. This tutorial was exactly what I needed! You're awesome.
I just want to say thank you!!! I just bought a new but used machine. I'm a complete newbie to machines. I haven't sewn in 15 years. The first project went fine, it was a basic one. Once I was comfortable, I said I needed to do a little maintenance ie lint. Well, when I went to start the next project, I couldn't figure out why the bobbin wasn't catching. Hours of searching the internet. I came across your video, and it was the problem! You are a life saver, and I can't thank you enough. I was on the verge of tears bc I was so frustrated. 🎉🎉🎉
THANK YOU!I just bought a used singer simple and the lady who sold it did NOT tell me there were any issues, I was almost ready to toss it out the window :( Your video did the trick and now it's catching the bobbin thread!
Just got a singer M1000 pre owned. I am a total noob and i was frustrated to see that the thread won't loop from the bobbin. Your tutoral was just the one i needed. Thank you!!
I am so HAPPY. I just repaired my M1000 that stopped sewing after a bobbin thread/needle thread/tension jam. I bought a folding Craftsman 9-key metric hex kit at Lowe's for $10. The smallest hex wrench, the 5/64, fit perfect. BUT I loosened the 2 hex screws under the machine too much. That made the manual hand wheel stop working (it no longer moved the black bobbin case OR the 2 hex screws at the bottom!! Thought I was screwed because now nothing turned so I could not retighten the hex screws because they were no longer visible beneath the machine. So I laid the machine on its back and reached into the black bobbin "cup" on top, and manually moved it so I could see the hex screws at the bottom again. It worked! Then I tightened up one hex screw slightly (but not all the way). Next I set the machine upright and attempted the fix again by moving the black bobbin "cup" so it aligned with the needle as it came down (as KT shows us). Then I put the bobbin thread back in, screwed the white plate back into place, and tried to pick up the bobbin thread with the needle. IT WORKED!!! Then I sewed a few inches. Beautiful. Next, I am going to fix my older, larger Singer that has refused to do a zigzag stitch for years. It only does straight stitch. I read this is also a timing problem. (●'◡'●)
Just bought Singer M1005 yesterday and got the same problem. Trying to fix by following other tutorial but it makes my energy drained. Then your video helped me, it works really well with not much effort, perfect for a machine noob like me. Thanks a bunch man!
Thanks!! Helped me fixed that issue. Singer should have your video on their website and also include instructions how to fix it in the manual as it seems to be a common one....
Wow! This is so amazingly helpful! My machine stopped working over 2 years ago after only about 2 uses and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I was planning on getting another one but decided to find help on TH-cam. This video really helped! I am now able to sew all my clothes that had been waiting for the last couple of years. Thank you so much for these instructions.
Thank you so much for this video. Unfortunately I loosened the allen bolts all the way and was totally unable to put them back into their holes so I've just had to take the entire casing off the machine to access that drive shaft enough to thread them back in. This is a very poorly designed machine in my opinion. Great video tho, thank you!
Hello, I wanted to thank you for your video. I am having so much problem losing the screw. Can you tell me if I am supposed to turn left or right to be able to unscrew the screw under the sewing machine to adjust the timing?
It's likely the screws haven't been loosened enough. If you're like me you're having an issue where the screws don't actually turn, and forcing the Allen wrench to turn just straps the wrench
I need help. I have this machine and I've had to adjust the timing a few times. This time that I adjusted the timing, the tray that my bobbin goes in keeps getting caught on the black piece that is below the presser foot. This piece seems to lift up but I don't know why it's suddenly getting caught when I'm trying to thread my machine. please someone help!
I listened my screws and adjusted the catch/black part but when I flip over to re tighten the screws to test they are moved and only show when I re turn the black part back to where it was?!? How do i re tighten the screws after? I wish you showed that step im so overwhelmed 😰
Make sure to remove the presser foot to make more room. My plastic plate slides out toward the back. Also, there is a small square hole in the front of that plate. When I stick a tiny screwdriver inside it, it triggers a lever that releases it.
I have an issue, when I pop off the small white circle peice on the bottom of the machine. There's no visible little screw to loosen. And when I turn the nob nothing turns like in your video
The two separate hex screws are not always immediately seen. But if you turn the "wheel" toward you a little, the mechanism moves and they will appear, one after the other. You might need a flashlight to see them.
I neeed help, my machine is called New Ideal Athina 8855 it is nearly like yours but whenever i try to step on its brake it just makes sound but doesnot move the needle at all please show me whats wrong with it since it doesnot stitch at all
This thing is the biggest piece of plastic junk just got it today and I'm packing it up to return edit: just bought a Singer Heavy Duty and used it 1 day before it had the same issue, the cam is coming out of alignment and not threading the bobbin thread after 1 jam. Its time to get a Brother....

Mine stopped working as well after two uses. I am going to try this today.
I thought he was using a screw driver in the bottom of that machine. I am still to get the appropriate key for the bottom of the sewing machine.
I got my Allen hex key today and fixed my machine 🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
My problem in singer M1005 solved as per your instructions.. Thank you very much .

Hello, I wanted to thank you for your video. I am having so much problem losing the screw. Can you tell me if I am supposed to turn left or right to be able to unscrew the screw under the sewing machine to adjust the timing?
Usually with most mechanical things, the rule is righty tighty, lefty loosey. So I plan to turn slightly to the left to loosen that screw.
I’ve got it open, I see the two screws but for the life of me I can’t loosen them- any tips y’all?
Thank you!!!!
Thank you for help
THANk YOU!!!!
Thanks bro😊

I think the problem is that the tray that my bobbin goes in is moving and turning and getting caught
Have you found a solution? Same problem here@@ChristineMichelleYT
this is helping but what can I use for the screw that we have to losen in the machine
What is the size of the ale key you used?
2 mm hex key
How do you get the bottom piece open
Thank you would help me for reasons I don't understand

Whats the tool you used to loosen up the black part?
It's called a 5mm hexagonal screw driver you can get it off of Amazon

How to position the bobbin wheel back again? It jumps off the place when I try to rotate the hand wheel.
i can’t get the plate up on top of the bobbin

if i lost my screwdriver key thing, what can i use?
Buy a metric hex kit, sold at most hardware stores for between $7-10. It will have the tiny mm sizes you will need. I got mine at Lowe's.
Help !
I have loosen the screws and did everything like in the videos and it is still not picking the treat underneath 😢😢
Did you ever find a solution? My machine just got a timing issue 😢

The little allen wrench screws are so tight I can't loosen them at all
My machine it’s not working I was trying but I’d know how repair bro can solve my problems and help me
Can i also apply this method to an embroidery machine?
Yes I ve got a brother v3 and brother 750
What if that didn’t work?
When catch is rotated, the needle goes up and down. You can't just rotate it to the needle. I need a little help.
One of the screws at the bottom was so tight I couldn’t make it budge, so I’m not sure what to do there
I would try a little oil or lube inside the stuck one and then try again the next day. Mechanical parts can fuse together just from humidity.
Nope didn’t work. I tried everything and retreading machine. Still needle comes up empty. What now?
