    It works as a CVT. As the rpm rises, it modifies the torque coming from the engine to the wheels. it mimics changing gears to a closer ratio as the rpm increases, as the rpm decreases it brings the ratios further apart like 1st gear would be in a vehicles transmission.

    Sure, we'll just whip up a go-cart... sounds easy, right?
    So many details!! At one point I said, this does NOT look sturdy... then Jimmy adds steel rod trusses and it becomes solid as a rock.
    Very cool that some bona fide craftsman stopped by to lend a hand.

    steering arms should point to center of rear axle, king pin should be angled so it points to center of spot where tire touches the ground. Also should have king pins rolled back a few degrees. Great cart and nice to see the others helping!! Thanks for the video Jimmy.

    You might want to come up with a plan B for the wheels. This one's aren't meant to hold up to a sideload. They're meant to lean into corners.

    Super fun build, love the jalopy look! I've been following Neil for a while now and love his work too. It's fun to see you both working on a project together. I've heard him talking about "my mate Corin" many times, so it's fun to finally see him in front of the camera. Thanks for sharing!

    Still can't get around the fact that you got Neil Paskin just casually joining your project. On a more general level I think the tools in a shop matters less than all the people either in the shop or along your maker journey. Great build!

    You're such an inspiration Jimmy! Not only in making, but life in general. Watched a documentary on you last night on youtube and just wanted to thank you for the inspiration over the years. I've been watching since Hammered & Dirty Money and followed you along the years. From when I was a teen, now I'm 35. Now I'm working on getting my own land oasis's and have my work spaces in Northern California. Even though I have never met you in person, I can tell you're a genuinely cool dude and when I "grow up" (don't think we ever will) I want to be like you! Love your videos and wanted to say Thanks!

    The transmission you use is a VARIOMATIC, invented by Hub van Doorne, Eindhoven-The Netherlands in the ‘60th. It was first used in the DAF33 automobil, a funny little dutch familycar, my father owned one.

    Instead of using a CVT transmission it would be sick to upgrade it to a Shifter Kart because that classic feel would really complete this build, that and some proper scooter rims and tires

    Amazing! Always the just about perfect ratio of exact versus eyeballed!
    The technician and the artist all in one craftsman.
    Always a treat to watch, always something valuable new to learn.
    Also there might be scratch built go carts before but the 20s styling on this one is right on the money (expect perhaps the CVT and the disk brake, but again they both somehow don't seem to subtract from the style much if any)

    It's called a CVT "Continuous Variable Transmission" DAF made it 1958 for their passenger cars. Others have followed.
    Nifty little thing. :)

    Had you ever built a go-kart from scratch before ??? Was awesome watching all of you working on the same project. My father used to build go-karts and mini-sprints and it's always been something on my bucket list of things to make.

    This looks incredible and I can’t wait to see it in the flesh! Even keeping up on Instagram there are so many more parts on this build that I thought were off the shelf components that you actually built from scratch. But besides that, the visual appeal of this thing is just off the charts. I didn’t think you could outdo last year’s build but it looks like you did🙌🏻

    The random velocity clutch is commonly known as a torque converter.
