I have been sewing since I was six and I had never heard of a needle minder until today at the ripe old age of 73. Thank you.

I use my needle minder to hold my little sewing scissors on my shirt. This way I have it handy no matter where I am; sewing at my machine, hand sewing or when working at my quilting machines. They are always handy to snip a thread wherever I am!

Much better than my usual way! Not that I have ever gone out and realized that my sewing needle or pins were still poked in my shirt.

Be sure to use rare earth magnets. Don't use the black magnets. The black ones can leave a stain on the fabric. Needle minders are great for holding charts to the fabric. Stops needles from rusting into the fabric if they've been left for a long time. I'll sometimes thread 2 needles at once (when I'm doing a large area of one colour) and leave the 2nd needle on the minder. If I'm doing the Parking method when I'm cross stitching I'll sometimes wrap the hanging threads around a needle minder. (Parking is when you leave the thread in position on the fabric ready to get back to it later.

Yes, I definitely need a few needle minders! Have couple cross stitch projects & hemming that needs to be finished...that's 3 needle minders! TY Laura for bringing this valuable little tool to our attention!

I've cross stitched since I was 11 years old (I'm 62) and I'd never heard of needle minder until about last fall. I have one now that I use all the time! I keep it attached to the fabric in my hoop so my needle is close at hand. It was pretty hard picking one, there are so many to choose from! I had no idea this little gadget was out there and I'm glad I now have one.

Thank you Marie. I appreciate your time. Going to make one with my cat that passed. It will bring a smile to me everyday. Had no clue there were custom versions available. I bet a lot of quilters will get one now.

I use small tins I have collected for “thread catchers”. I have one with every hand stitching bag I have (binding bag, EPP, cross stitch). I put my needle minder on the tin lid.

Never thought about wearing it..on my sleeve.. Mine fit on my flannel covered board... & it works.
I try to always rethread my needle with an end knot, even when I place it on my tomato!

If you have a pacemaker or defibrillator never put a magnet on your shirt. I put my needle minder on the armchair caddy that is on my chair for my remotes. The remotes are in the pockets that hang down the side of the chair so they are not near the magnet.

I would never attach needles or scissors to my body. If there's a way to stab myself, I'll find a way. Don't need to set myself up for an inevitable stab. Other ideas for the needle minder are helpful, though.

If you are wearing one with needles be cautious of hugging someone. No porcupines wanted. 😁
