    Good tutorial. I like the background music too :). For needle minders, I strongly suggest using the "rare earth magnets" from amazon...The type of "brown/dark magnets" used in this video, will leave marks on your fabrics...but they can be used for refrigerator magnets or multi-purpose. The rare earth magnets are ultra strong and teter on being downright dangerous. The REMs not safe for babies, children and even questionable for adults when you buy them in bulk via mail like I do Most importantly, REMs are SHINY silver and will not damage stitching fabrics. Every time I've ordered them, they tear right through the packages/ boxes that they are shipped in. They will also pinch the heck out of your fingers (I've got a few 'under the skin' cherry bruises this way! OUCH.)

    Great tutorial. One thing that may help you is to cut a window in your template. The cardboard or paper you were using to cut the outer edge of your fabric. Just leave 1/4 " or 1/2" edge all the way around and cut out the center so you can place the template where you want on the fabric and you will see where you want the patten centered

    I just bought some vintage enamel Christmas pins to make some needle minders.

      Yay! You can glue the magnents to them! I now suggest the rare earth magnents, these can leave behind some transfer dust.

    Very neat idea. I craft a lot and even though the E6000 glue does smell bad, it has a super strong hold. TYFS

    Great tutorial! I saw needle minders about a month ago while looking for a cross stitch pattern on line and wondered with they were. I researched them and then wondered how I could make one. I may try using some crackled glass stones that my daughter and I nail polished designed. I don't know how it'll work, but I may give it a try along with your button needle minders. Great Christmas stocking stuffer idea!!! Thanks for sharing.

      You just may need a stronger magnet. But that is a neat idea let me know how they work!,

      Stitching Mae I went shopping today at my local Joann's store and bought a pack of Darcie "stronger magnets" . Hopefully the'll work. Fingers crossed. lol Tonight is my 1st night of a 4 night work stretch, so I won't attempt doing them until I get a day off. I'll let you know if it's a hit or a bust! lol

    This is such a cute idea! I'm trying really hard not to buy anything stitching related and all I really need for this is the button maker and magnets and hey...those things technically aren't stitching related haha!

    • @StitchingMae
      @StitchingMae  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree they are a stitching necessity lol. They are so easy to make. Just make sure you get all the magnet dust off of the magnets befire putting them on the fabric!

    I've used E6000 glue for ages. I am a decorative painter and use acrylic paint. usually with most glues you have to sand down a bare spot on the wood for gluing. Not with E6000. I think it will hold most anything.

    Hiya Mae! Iam a begginer Sticher and was looking for a free online pattern that uses DMC floss and thats good for begginer! Thanks So much! Happy Stichin'!

    • @StitchingMae
      @StitchingMae  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of patterns have the conversion charts. If you google free patterns you shoukd be able to find a lot of patterns. I would be afraid to post any links I woukd be afraid I woukd find a non legal site, lol. DMC websitr has some patterns, some of the cross stitch magazine sites have free patterns.

      Stitching Mae Just wanted to update ya, I made some needle minders and it was so easy but so much fun too. My daughter in law fell in love with them and being a new stitcher is very interested in collecting her "toys" for stitching so I made her one and have promised to make a few more for her. Thanks again for the tutorial!

  • @Tricia-TheLefthandedStitcher

    Can we see these in use? I'm very interested in how they are working out for you. Do the magnets leave any transfer marks on the fabric?

    • @StitchingMae
      @StitchingMae  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will show this on my next update...if I can remember. I am going to have to start writing things down so that I remember what I need to say LoL. They did leave some powder but I thought it was due to being a new magnet...now I am wondering if it is transfer marks...hmm I wonder if clear nail polish would stop this like it does a nickel allergy??

    Is a needle minder used on th fabric so that ypu can keep track of your needle when you are switching?

    • @StitchingMae
      @StitchingMae  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes ma'am. I guess I should have shown it on the fabric. One magnet goes on the bqck and the button one goes on the front. When younare snipping threads messing with chart or pulling floss you place your needle on the button magnet so thst your needle "minds" and doesnt get lost or to re"mind" you where your needle is lol

    • @melissakroll3481
      @melissakroll3481 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much, I am now dying to make some for my mother & i . My mother always seems to be losing or misplacing her needles so I think I am going to be making then as chrixtmas gifts for. One more thing do you think hot glue would work as the gluing agent for something like this?

  • @Tyllr1

    For the needle minders if I used Polymer clay do you think Itd still work?

    • @StitchingMae
      @StitchingMae  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TyTy Engelman I think it would as long as the piece is not too thick. I am not thay familiar with the clay, but I know people have maed them oht of plastic buttons etc..

    Stitching Mae could you please tell me what a stitch long group is i would like to find one

    • @StitchingMae
      @StitchingMae  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The group I belong too is dedicated to the AAN fanpage, there are a few others as well...it is a group of people who are stitching and post pictures and updates kind of like we do on here...So in ways I guess we are a stitch a long group. Some groups work on a particular pattern...theme etc.
