Thanks for sharing this, man it’s the little details that ruin stuff. The thing that taught me the most is don’t take anything for granted, cause anything can and will happen.
From the looks of it. That was a fuel hydrolock... The clean spots +bent rod and no signs of steam cleaning gave it away. Edit, someone already beat me to it. Lots of smart folks running round here👍
What brand of injector is he running? Inexpensive EBay injectors will stick open, wash cylinders and rings. I suppose it’s possible that it hydrolocked a cylinder.
Hydrolocked? Just thinking out loud as you tear this down. Seeing that much oil dripping out of the intake has me very suspicious of this being hydrolocked.
@@EllweinEngines I've seen that in GM 3800 engines. Both fuel and water causing hydrolock problems bending the connecting rods. Usually on start up too.

Definitely Hydrolock Damaged while Crank to Start. If Cause not fixed, next block will have similar fate.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Get work

Fuel Injector Dynamics
Hey Ellwein, what was the quench clearance?
I did not check how far the piston was in the hole but the gasket was at least .040"

Thanks for the reply
Are you in Jersey or near it?
3 hours south of Delaware-Mem Bridge, (southern Maryland)
@EllweinEngines Oh ok do you serve the public?

Fuel hydrolocked? Was an injector leaking?
You got it right-off-the-bat. I was looking for water but it must have been fuel hydro lock.
It must have been an injector. The customer is going to have me send the injectors out for cleaning and testing

Those piston tops have a lot of carbon, hence, my question of quench clearance.
