  • This video will cover the differences between the Mooer GE150 GE200, and GE-300 multi-effects processor pedals. There's no real guide to the differences between each of these units so I thought I would share it with this video. In this video, I show you some sound samples of each of them including loading 3rd party IRs (impulse responses) into them.

    Hello, if it's possible, can you try playing the same amp/cabinets/effects on all three?
    i.e. 5150 amp simulation, on a 4x4 speaker, on each model (GE150, GE200, GE300)
    Thank you in advance

    In the video You mentioned that the expression pedal in GE150 is plastic. It is not. It is painted amuminium or thick sheet metal from another material. Touch the pedal by a hand, its colder than plastic green housing of GE150.

    The PE100 also seems to be part of that line and is a smaller stripped down and cheaper version of the GE100. They seem to have every price point covered.

    As a few others have queried: with all things being equal how does the same model and cab in the GE150 sound Vs GE300? Even if we cannot hear an example I'm sure Shane that your opinion would be greatly valued.

      It is not all the same. The ge 250, 300 and preamp live are using a different sound engine as the ge 150 and 200 which sound even better and more dynamic.

    Good review! I'm surprised the big unit leaves out the drum patterns. My Zoom units have them and frankly I use them a fair amount while looping to build a minimal band sort of effect. I would hate to have a high end model that doesn't have it.

    • @peterschmidt9942
      @peterschmidt9942 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got both the G3x and G5n and while I don't use the drum patterns all that often (I've got a few other drum machines I can hook into a PA), it's still a nice feature to have - especially considering they're sub $400 products. The way the zooms are set out works with the way my brain functions, so they're easy to use :)

    • @nazmoking3171
      @nazmoking3171 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter Schmidt I agree- I have one of each myself also and did a lot of TH-cam reviews of tone comparisons to the Mooers prior to buying and felt the Zoom tones were superior.

      @@nazmoking3171 They probably don't have the fancy screens that the mooers or helix have, but everything you need is on the screen and at least easy to find and tweak.

    • @joellebrodeur1015
      @joellebrodeur1015 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nazmoking3171 I still think Zoom sounds better however the Mooer is easier to use. The drums are stagnant on both, if I recall. This is a drawback in my view as I have a 20 yr old Zoom PS02 that has an effects/amp emulator and a programmable drum section. I still use my PS02 and you can program fills and other patterns it has in the order you want them played. Plus, you can set up for a number of measures to play, whereas nearly all these new units lack that functionality. Makes zero sense that a 20 yr old tech unit still edges out these units.

    The 150+200 are pretty affordable. Then the 300's nearly 3x the price (around $1250AU). Then you're up into Helix LT territory. I suppose it's going to come down to which one's easier to use and sounds better (even though the 300 has more effects/amps than the helix). It will be interesting to see the full review.

    I have an HX stomp but , I think I am going to order a GE-150 next month when I get paid. Essentially I will use it to offload some of the effects from my stomp and allow my stomp to run 3rd party impulse response and possibly even dual cab so I don’t have to use an amp for shows. Plus the expression pedal and the fact that I can just use it alone for a second rig when I have friends over is a no brainer at that price.

    Get the GE250 instead of the 200 if you can. It’s a the newer version that allows you to tone capture. It had midi in/out, 11 fx blocks, 5 foot switches, and and fix loop to add stuff into your loop (still has the expression pedal and ability to add another as well). Reverb sells them for like ~$450-$600 but it is well worth if you want to have more features on a smaller footprint than the biggest one.

All seem to target a roughly similar entry level price point, where the GE100 and G1Xon are the older generation pedals. I'm also curious how the GE150 sounds with a custom impulse response, preferably one that's freely available on the internet.

    Hey Shane! I appreciate the video, my friend. I 'm looking to buy one multi fx unit like these. I like ME-80 by Boss because it has every effect on a knob. These Mooer...are they like that? Or do you need to cycle through on the LCD screen? On the downside though, with the ME-80 is that you cannot stack two or more effects of the same kind. E.g.: two delays, or two overdrives. Can you stack two or more effects of the same kind with these MOOER multi Fx units? Thanks a lot!!! Greetings from Greece!

    • @dntinpalevo
      @dntinpalevo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have tried the GE200. You can only pick one effect of each kind. Even if you make a sound with just one delay, the empty slots for the reverb/distortion etc cannot be filled with another delay.
      Also, on GE200, you can select or de-select one effect only at a time since it has only 3 switches and two of them are used for changing banks/presets.
      BUT you can be clever and assign the foot switch to the volume of an effect, therefore you now have 2 switches for two effects instead of one.
      Also, you can add external switches to do the effect switching job and it will cost you very little.

    I still think we are being ripped with the prices not just the Mooers but Helix Headrush Fractal etc in this country (Australia). They make the things for nothing in China, it's just a case with pcb's knocked up by some poor bugger getting paid peanuts. I blame the consumer if we didn't buy them the price would drop big time. I would love to know the mark up on electronic goods here.. Helix -LT RRP $1599.00AUD for example I would bet my left testicle they cost the distro around $700-$800AUD. If they sold them for $1200 still making a profit but in the end sell more so make more money. Same with mobile phones holy crap what a rip off they are here Just my 50c opinion.
