I think you just have to tweak, and not asking more than the pedal can give you men, I have Pod Xt and It sounds amazing (You cannot compare a Pod Xt with these two)
Thanks for the review, I also was pretty sceptical about that synth-hype. Even Ola spent quite a decent time with the synth stuff. My 2 cents: Just get a used GE200 for >200 euros. If you want to spend more: Amplifier 6, HX Stomp
Well, the Synth fx sounded awesome, but I'm pretty sure the Helix can do these also AND has amazing amp sims. Great review. You're one of my favorite gear channels on yt. Greetings from Lotasticland aka Austria
To be completely fair most (if not all) of the issues you had with it were fixed in firmware updates, plus there is also the Lite version, which is pretty much the same but muuuch cheaper ($200 less) cause it doesn't have some of the things that to most people are useless or just addable, like the synth, the 30 minute looper and the expression pedal (which you can just buy separately). But great video nonetheless! It's refreshing to see someone be harshly honest with their opinion while not being unpolite! Cheers!
I see it like this. If you're an 'all-around' musician who plays gigs everyday jumping from a metal show from one night to an indie/dreampop show the following day (or in the same night!), the GE300 is for you. If all you care about is high gain metal sounds that you can record with and play live with in a band...and that's all you want to do, the GE200 is for you. I personally don't see much use for the tone capture, the added send/return, and synthengine for a 'purely-metal' musician. In my local metal scene, I know a few GE200 owners who initially pre-ordered the 300 because they thought it's 'better' only to be disappointed that it isn't that different from the 200 when they started using it. On paper, the 300 may initially have better metal tones than the 200 but once third party IRs come in to play, I feel that they're really close., with one maybe being better than the other depending on the IR used. Wishfully thinking, I wish Mooer would make a variant of the 300 that replaces the synthengine with a 'built-in Mooer baby bomb'. For metalheads playing live, that would be much more useful.
As of now the GE 300 is about 600€ while the Helix LT sits between 900/1000€,moneywise it's a big gap while the differences are so minimal (and sometimes work in reverse compared to what you higlighted in the video) that makes this unit actually a better buy than the LT.About tonal capabilities if don't put third party IRs into the Helix it will sound like shit, wanna have a "real" tone heaven? Then go Fractal, even the smaller unit released lately is light years ahead of whatever Line6 or whoever else can match.
If GE300 was 400-500, it would take a big chunk of Helix LT market. But, at this pricing, as already said multiple times, nope. It's not rivalling, Line 6 still has Yamaha behind it and continuous software improvements and release cycles, has some very nice boutique amps models, it's just much better overall.
thank you for this video. Currently at the end of July 2020, Helix LT is at 915€ and the GE300 costs 584€. So the price gap has increased quiet a lot. ;)
Hi, thanks for the very interesting review, the "small pause" at 11:05 when turn on/off the switches... that really shock me!! (especially because you were activating just DLY & REV, maybe I could expect it from the section Synth but not here), did you find the same problem turning on/off other effects? Thanks
That sounds like a change in levels (db) rather than a gap. How do other modelers handle this? By the way, I really need to listen thru a great set of cans - double check. Pete.
Hej, mate! this is the most comprehensive review I've seen of this unit Soundwise would you recommend this one over the Preamp Live? Does this one sound really better? Thanks!
Try the unit with impulse responses. I have a ge200 and it sounded about the same out of the box. I was disappointed until I tried the IR's I've used in the past with line 6. It blew the line 6 stuff away with that. I'm sold on my ge200 and I'd like to try the ge300 now.
mooer ge300 has tone capture feature which is usable on guitars and cabinets etc. That is kemper functionality in a much lower price range. I think this unit only needs 1 more fx loop and the ability for parallel signal chains. If it had those, it would be perfect. btw Line 6 is Japanese (parent corp is Yamaha) while Mooer is Chinese.
Thanks for the honest review. For the money I think, I will skip this GE300. The switching between preset is not seamless and that is very important for me.
I agree with everything you tell but! You should have covered the tone capture feature with either your engl or laney and talk about the organic feeling and if a good tone capture will get you to the next level.
It should have lcd scribble strips above each button to say what is assigned to each button and then change colors to the strip if activated. Many digital mixers have these scribble strips.
The problem is that Moore doesn’t create good factory presets, which is a problem. Once you add decent impulse responses and and amp captures, the Moore will sound amazing. This review was NOT informative and also lazy, kind of like many guitar players. Sorry 🙂. If you can’t take time to explore the full potential of your gear, then that’s a good reason you may not be getting the most out of it. Especially if you’re looking for a Line 6 sponsorship. Are encourage whatever is watching to look at a few more videos in regard to the GE-300 and you’ll see what I’m talking about
The modern day guitarist and consumer is absolutely lazy. I personally also don´t want to spend hours trying to make something sound good because creativity and inspiration need something interesting in the first place ;) This is not my last video about the GE300, I will talk about the Tone Capture in another video, also creating more metal tones. I absolutely agree that you should watch more than 1 video if you are thinking about getting gear. Regarding all the (almost too) positive reviews, I wanted to bring some scepticism into the game. Life´s too short to agree with everyone ;)
had the ge200 for a while, didn't sound great out the box...but some time spent....and some custom IR's imported......a beast that you'd be proud to gig with.....just takes some effort
@@MilianMalivukMusic I really like where you're coming from on this. I get that in the video. You did have many good things to say about the 300 and also I'll bet you are going to have more demos of this later. Cheers
I mean.. in this price range as of today April of 2024 it cost 600 Euro, the GE300 must be the top of the line compared to other pedals that cost maximum 600 Euros right ? Even the GE300 Lite that cost today 444 Euros must be the best in that price range ? I have made some serious comparing between the multi effects in both this price segments and the conclusion is that the GE300 and GE300 Lite would most likely be the best value for the money. There is some really great IR´s out there, Ola England has some great ones that sounds totally awesome. Even other IR´s that you buy is way better than the built in ones, that combined with the wide range of settings you can do on the GE300 and GE300 Lite is remarkable I think.. What do you think ?
In total honesty: no idea man, and I also absolutely don't care about this stuff anymore... this was 5 years ago, I haven't followed the guitar gear world in the last 2-3 years at all, so unfortunately I have no more opinion on this, sorry...
Love your videos dude! I would love to see a review of the Line 6 HX stomp :) Seems like there are pretty much zero reviews of it catering to the metal crowd.
As of May 2020 you have the GE200 around 200€, GE250 around 400€ and GE300 around 600€. I've owned a GE200 for the past 5 or 6 months and I'm pretty satisified with it, from a beginner's point of view. I've seen some reviews and demos with the Fractals and I'm definitely considering it as a replacement for my Mooer in the future.
You haven't talked about the GE300's tone match/tone capture feature, what are your thoughts on this? I'm really curious to see how it does. Great straight to the point no bullshit video by the way!
Thanks for doing this video. I couldn’t understand why everyone was demoing this like it was an advertisement and not a review. I thought the exact same thing about the “synth engine”. Why do metal TH-cam channels care about a synth guitar product lol. I’m curious to hear how many good high gain amp sounds there actually are inside.
Hi dude! Love your vids! Would you mind doing a review update after the new firmware updates that came out? They fixed a lot of the issues you explained like FXs, trails and led dimming! I would appreciate that so much since I'd want to buy it as well! Cheers from italy!
Great review. I too am bored of review 'ads' that are all over TH-cam nowadays, seems like most everyone is signing on (except for a few TH-camrs out there).
I think I am going to go for the Headrush... seems the easiest to use AND the best sounding compared to this Mooer, the Helix, etc. Zoom sounds pretty good though at much lower cost, oddly enough...
But helix cannot profile real amps. Remember a Kemper is the only thing out there that profiles. With this you’re getting a helix lt + kemper profiling technology
Maybe a dumb question but can you bank multiple effects on one stomp? Like for example bank a clean tone that has reverb and delay so instead of trying to hit multiple buttons you just hit one? I want to get one but want to know if I can bank my go to clean, rhythm, and lead tones on their own stomps
Soulhenge thanks so much I’ve asked like 100 different channels and you’re the only one that replied! You just gained a subscriber (video was good as well)
See, I literally bought an HX Stomp for synth sounds. Unfortunately, the Stomp is really really good at synth sounds, so that makes this unit a bit redundant for me.
@@gauravlama2079 buy it, set it up correctly with the 'cuts' in the global EQ, lower the patch volumes to remove clipping and the tones are KILLER, the new firmware has a better version of Digitech Drop too 😉

Great review, always appreciate honest reviews.
mooer ge300 has tone capture feature which is usable on guitars and cabinets etc. That is kemper functionality in a much lower price range. I think this unit only needs 1 more fx loop and the ability for parallel signal chains. If it had those, it would be perfect.
btw Line 6 is Japanese (parent corp is Yamaha) while Mooer is Chinese.
i have AXE FX 2 and i get mooer Ge300 it is really not bad
"Many people are picky as well."
That's why I subscribed.
Excellent!! Thanks for the review !! Now I have no doubts !! I go for the Helix !!
Thanks for the honest review. For the money I think, I will skip this GE300. The switching between preset is not seamless and that is very important for me.
My parrot appreciate your riffs.
As did mine!
I really appreciate your honesty
Thanks for honest review, that's very helpful.
As long as it worth the money, being not cheap is not a disadvantage; if it is not, than, not cheap is a disadvantage.
I agree with everything you tell but! You should have covered the tone capture feature with either your engl or laney and talk about the organic feeling and if a good tone capture will get you to the next level.
Thank you for your candid review
Cheers
Has a LOOPER which is appealing
There seem to be a lot of noise about the 'tone capture' feature of this unit. What's your opinion about it?
Very truthful and real opinions!!! Great job, keep it up 👍👍
I mean.. in this price range as of today April of 2024 it cost 600 Euro, the GE300 must be the top of the line compared to other pedals that cost maximum 600 Euros right ?
How does it compare to the Headrush? There is just some idiot how says its ahead of the Headrush and at Par with the Helix?
Love your videos dude! I would love to see a review of the Line 6 HX stomp :) Seems like there are pretty much zero reviews of it catering to the metal crowd.
Did they fix the led always on issue? That's a deal breaker! Good review!!
Apparently they fixed it by now with a software update I think!
Instantly subbed for assumed honesty. I like sceptical reviews ;)
Was waiting for this! ✌️
Brutaly honest - that`s what we want.
You haven't talked about the GE300's tone match/tone capture feature, what are your thoughts on this? I'm really curious to see how it does. Great straight to the point no bullshit video by the way!
Patrick Ombrog I will talk about the Tone Capture in a separate video! ;)
Also wondered about that. Any News about the FX with this Update?
I want to buy it as well.
Cheers from Germany 😉
Great review. I too am bored of review 'ads' that are all over TH-cam nowadays, seems like most everyone is signing on (except for a few TH-camrs out there).
I think I am going to go for the Headrush... seems the easiest to use AND the best sounding compared to this Mooer, the Helix, etc. Zoom sounds pretty good though at much lower cost, oddly enough...
Thank you for your honesty.
Yes you can definitely put multiple FX on one stomp button!
Soulhenge thanks so much I’ve asked like 100 different channels and you’re the only one that replied! You just gained a subscriber (video was good as well)
i wonder what are you playing on that gameboy advance..
awesome video!
Nice review ^_^
Simon X Don't trigger me 😂
Thank you for honesty!
See, I literally bought an HX Stomp for synth sounds.
Unfortunately, the Stomp is really really good at synth sounds, so that makes this unit a bit redundant for me.
Very Nice and lookings honest review.many detailed points on Daily use that are notre focused on in other reviews.thanks
Bro could you also please review the Headrush pedalboard?
It's better than the Helix, almost as good as the Boss GT-1000 and more fun.
@@d0dg3st4r So that's means I can buy it yeah???
@@gauravlama2079 buy it, set it up correctly with the 'cuts' in the global EQ, lower the patch volumes to remove clipping and the tones are KILLER, the new firmware has a better version of Digitech Drop too 😉
@@gauravlama2079 the alternative is the Boss.. Sounds a little better, harder to set up though and less fun / no touch screen.
@@d0dg3st4r And bro what is IR? I hear people says you can upload your own IR... I have no idea what Impulse Response is... no clue how it works how to upload or download I have 0 knowledge about it.....
Excellent video !!!
It is expensive but has the tone capture which is a big extra to the GE200. I think I would prefer spending less & not getting the tone capture. The better interface is worth maybe double the GE200
I was thinking about buying one of these but I really dont like that the button lights dont dim when they are turned off!!!!!!!! --------------------- ANYONE KNOW IF THIS HAS BEEN FIXED???????
I noticed that too. Basically all the "reviews" I've seen on the Mooer devices were obviously sponsored, and lacked any form of honest criticism. Having said that, I'm pretty happy with my GE200, but that's not the point.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts but I kind of missed the tone capture feature being talked about.
You probably don't know who Christopher Walken
is, but if you wanted to do Walken Impressions , you
could nail it, very slight mod to your accent, and you would
own it.
great review. whats your signal chain in the demo?
Really impressed with your honesty man, thanks for the review, could you please guide me on what should I buy Mooer GE300 or Boss GX100 the Latest unit from the Boss? ..my main perspective is for live gigs. i want a processor which has amazing depth.
Did you ever check out the computer software to see if you could modify the sounds easier?
come on Line6 give this guy a unit!!!
Thank you for a great [actually critical?!?] review on youtube!
How does the Mooer GE300 compare to the 500X? I have a pod 500X and found a guitar center has the GE300 used for a little bit more. As much as I like the 500X, the cab impulses are poor for recording.
Here in Brazil a Line6 LT cost more than double of a ge300, do you think Will you pay the duble for t helix lt? To us here is like paying 7k euros for Mooer or 12k euros on Line6 helix LT (Yes, its that expensive here) Wich one would you buy at this price? Thanks!
Agreed, they should atleast have a "blinker" for effects in use.
Best review! Thank you :)
Yea bro we really need honest people specially on review.... Thanks
Thanks for your review.
