- Two professional drift pilots asked for a standard BMW M3 and BMW M4, went to the Hockenheimring for the definitive drift test drive - and brought back this film. Many thanks to the Red Bull Driftbrothers and their whole team. Since Elias and Joe were also interested in the new M Drift Analyzer, BMW M developer Thomas joined them at the German race track.

BMW M4 Competition Coupé: Fuel consumption weighted combined in l/100km: 10.5-10.2 (NEDC); 10.2-9.9 (WLTP), CO2 emissions weighted combined in g/km: 240-234 (NEDC); 233-227 (WLTP).
BMW M3 Sedan: Fuel consumption weighted combined in l/100km: 10.8 (NEDC); 10.6-10.3 (WLTP), CO2 emissions weighted combined in g/km: 248 (NEDC);; 241-236 (WLTP).
Official data on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the NEDC take into account differences in the selected wheel and tire size; figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. WLTP values are used for assessing taxes and emissions, as well as for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies, if applicable. Where applicable, the NEDC values listed were calculated based on the new WLTP measurement procedure and then converted back to the NEDC measurement procedure for comparability reasons. @@nessuno5403 I’m assuming bc of the chip shortage. Can’t get an answer from BMW other than there is no scheduled production date currently. I’ve had a build # since April 5th.
@@antdiesel3 sorry to hear... many other cars also affected; I read the Germans are building other cars without the new smart systems, just to let production continue
@@nessuno5403 appreciate it. Yes, I’ve heard the same. I’d rather it arrive late and have all the options that I spec’d than for it to arrive sooner missing options and/or safety features.

Keep in mind doing a 4th gear drift in an 8 speed (which the automatic is), is not the same as doing a 4th gear drift in a 6 speed. Still very impressive though

Love this.. how do you drift them without a manual handbrake though?
Drift never required handbrakes using handbrakes never let you drift instead it loses the control of your car and you look stupid xD
i have seen my cousins try doing it on FWD cars using handbrake and failed miserably xD cringeeeee ughhh
In a rear driver or rear biased car, it's just a matter of getting the right angle of turn and then giving it enough throttle to break the rear loose. Then the rear swings around and you countersteer, and you're drifting!
