On a new TLP if you want to make money fast, kill anything that can drop rusty weapons. Convert them all in a forge into ore. Use that ore to start grinding smithing. When you can make banded armor, start hawking sets in the tunnel. Have an alt in Rivervale to buy small patterns and molds, and one in Halas for the large. Transfer everything through the shared bank. I'd suggest having a tunnel seller, you can send finished product to that alt through parcels. Use all profits to continue the grind to fine plate. Rinse, repeat. Since krono prices will be low at the beginning of a new server, if you have sufficient profits, buy up as many as you can.
Focus on one tradeskill, at least to start. Tinkerers (gnomes only) start with 50 skill, but can't start progressing until I think they hit level 16 in their class. Researching opens up at level 16 for casters. Alchemy opens up at level 25 for shaman, and yes, it is popular. Resist and cure potions are required for raiders. Greater Concentration potions are a must have for all casters (+3 mana regen for 30 minutes). Once you can make the potions that gate you to places like Field of Bone, have a couple on hand to sell.
One thing that I cannot suggest more, buy the tradeskill depot feature from the marketplace, if you haven't already. You can dump all your tradeskill items into at a bank. If you already know a recipe, and have a mobile crafting tool (medicine bag for example) then you can check a box, and pull items from there as you do combines. If you're on a live server, and don't want to pay for a feature, you can buy an Extraplanar Trader Satchel from the bazaar. It's 40 slots, 100% WR, and can only accept items flagged as for tradeskill. I've dropped one into a shared bank slot when I log off, if I know I'll be playing another character later. Or you could use it as a mini tradeskill depot.
I would advise not going to EQTraders for guides, until your server progresses to the point where the "new" recipes and progression unlock. Instead, EQProgression.com and ALmar's Guides both have crafting guides to follow, to get fastest skilling up, at the better cost. And stay away from making the four slot bags that were mentioned early on in the video.

Thank you! I can’t tell you how many times I searched for “TLP Crafting” and was flooded with “1-200 Fast!” videos. I was annoyed, so thank you for the level of detail. Do you have more like this?

Thanks for watching. I'd be happy to make more like this. Let me know what trade skill you're most interested in. and If it's TLP or Standard rules servers. The recipes can vary by a lot.

This was a good one. The only thing I ever crafted was the different silk armor when I played a monk in the beginning

It's a horrible problem for me I loot everything bags and bags of random stuff and if I delete or sell I always think what if I needed that lol

#Relatable. I do the same. There were times when I sold stuff only to regret it later because I needed it for crafting.

You can also get the sharpening stones in Halas, another great video by the way.

Honestly, I was afraid that this video was bad because of the newbie topic of starter crafting. So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.

Just started a necromancer and brought his Smithing to around 60. I still haven't wrapped my head around item properties and stats in Everquest. I can't seem to buy components in bulk and craft them to sell to NPCs at a profit. It looks like the main benefit of tradeskills, thus far, is to fill in equipment gaps. For money... yeah... looting bipedal mobs seems to yield equipment that sells for between 1-4 platinum per piece. If it's possible to render crafted pieces at a net profit, I don't know how to do it, yet. =)

Crafting is only profitable when you can sell completed items to other players, vie direct interaction or through the bazaar. Crafting basic items like tattered leather, raw silk is never really profitable, it's more about skilling up until you can craft cultural armor or better. Then you can soo a little profit. I do make nice profit from higher end armor templates that I sell in bazaar, but that requires skill of 300+

You can buy sharpening stones in Halas as well at server start. If you start in or around Qeynos.

First thing you do is buy the Trade skill Depot. The rest is following established guides online.

I'm enjoying the video so far, but I don't understand how you know what to put in the sewing kit with the pattern. Is the information available somewhere in-game, is there a wiki, trial and error, or what?

Most recipes can be found in game somewhere, but they can be challenging to locate. Check out EQTraders website it has every recipe in the game. It's where I get all my crafting information.

As someone just starting the game, but having done a bit of research, I know that some tradeskills are locked behind some classes. If you ignore that aspect, is there a better class for levelling tradeskills in general? Easier to farm materials with, etc?

    • @FezzelwhigsForum
      @FezzelwhigsForum  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It depends on what you're farming because some items drop off specific monsters. When farming specific monsters a ranger or druid can be useful because they get Tracking. But when farming general supplies I like using my mage. At higher levels, mage pets are fast efficient killing machines. A necromancer might be good too because they're also very self sufficient. As far as skilling up goes, I have not experienced any difference in Race or class for skilling up faster. You're correct that some classes get skills that others don't, like Alchemy for Shaman and poison making for rogues. Anyone can do Jewelry making, but only an enchanter can enchant the metals.

@@FezzelwhigsForum How hobbled do you think levelling tradeskills would be if you were on a f2p account only?

@@anubisftn Tradeskills are not really limited on Free to Play, at least not to my knowledge. Of course the mercenaries you get with premium account are way better, but free ones are still helpful. You should be able to skill up just fine. Just be sure to get beginner trophy when you hit skill of 50+. If the trophy quest is available on your server. The younger TLP servers wont have it yet.

@@FezzelwhigsForum Oh, I wasn't sure if there was more limited storage, or a lack of AAs that might be missing? Also, thank you for all the helpful responses. Still watching the video as well. I suppose I'll feel foolish if some of this is already answered in the video. If so, sorry for wasting your time with these.

@@anubisftn No worries, I like questions relevant to the videos. Premium does not impact storage space. You can buy bags for more storage space. Look for Extraplanar Trade Satchel in the bazaar. They hold tradeskill stuff.
