Now that is really cool! Classy and whimsical all at the same time. Even if it wasn't a Halloween motif, the colours of the resin and wood together makes this piece pop! ❤
If that was truly his design, yes, it would be truly creative. Unfortunately, I know these things...they have a list of designs, someone picks one, and lets the machine do the work.
That turned out really cool, I could see you making platters for Halloween, Thanksgiving etc. Thank you for taking time to build, turn, film, edit and post this video.
Hello Morgan, extremely well done, as always, the colour is so perfect for pumpkins, and I love the way you waited so long for the final reveal of the inside of the bowl! I presume there is a limit to the depth that the laser cuts, which is why you needed to glue five slices together, but I may be wrong. Great piece!
Alan Thank you😉👍 yes you are right, white ash is a hard wood and the laser cannot cut cleanly beyond 10 mm, so you have to superimpose the layers but this is quite delicate..
That’s freaking awesome. I do wonder why you cut down the wood to then glue it back into a large piece again. Is it because the laser cutter wouldn’t go through the thicker piece?
You're brilliant! That's SPOOKTACULAR! 👻🎃🦇💀🕷Halloween is my favorite day of the year. I loved the spider web bowl you created a few weeks ago, and now you gifted us with another amazing Halloween bowl. Thanks! ❤
That is really kewl! Could do that for Christmas, also!! You have nice hands. ?? How often do you have to sharpen your tools? Thank you for your beautiful creations!
Jody👍 Thank you very much for your comment I am very happy that you appreciate my work.👍 for sharpening my gouges, it mainly depends on the material used, when the wood is very hard or there is resin I have to sharpen very regularly during a turning😉
Morgan, this is a very nice looking dish/bowl. It would be a real center of attention for the little folks this time of year as well. Imagine the many varieties of candy you could have on the table with it. Have you started selling your resign molds yet? I'm still in the market when you do. John in Anchorage, Alaska
i like your work, its relaxing see you work on it i have a question though, could having the piece sit in a vacuum for a little while before the pressure pot help with preventing bubbles like that one? it seems to me like a sure way for preventing them but maybe there is a good reason to not do it
Thank you😉this would not have changed much because the resin was of average viscosity and the bubble was quite deep.. I should have poured the resin with even more pause steps and more slowly
You could do an inverse version of this by using the cutouts fro the original laser cuts. The body of the pumpkin could be the orange resin, and the eyes, mouth etc. the would be the wood elements Just a thought
Absolutely gorgeous. The pink colour is a little too blended, somewhat subtle. The part that’s a shame is the wood looks like cheap wood. Other than that, the idea and delivery is absolutely brillian.😊
@@bawbreizhartwood usually someone picks a design out and has the machine laser cut it. It would be more creative if you cut it out yourself. The world today is getting too automatic and no one seems to use their brain anymore for anything. See what I mean?
@@morgancalvi6675 Yes I totally see what you mean 😉 in this creation I had a requirement for millimeter precision only a laser could offer me this service

Pretty clever! I kept wondering if there would be a pumpkin to see on the bottom! Like the colors

Do you sell your work? Is there a website?
Yes I have an Etsy store and I sometimes put my works there
@ great! Thank you.
Yet another lovely piece. But I didn't see how you overcame that big void in the resin. What did you use?
I used a slightly different technique and a lot of patience😉
@@bawbreizhartwood Probably cut out a ring instead of a disc? Or drill holes in the spacer wood. This would allow a path for the air to escape.

That was quite the bubble! I wonder if it was air from the unsealed wood?
No, this is due to pouring the resin too quickly.

Using the pieces you cut out of the jack-o-lantern face, you can make a negative version of this.
Exact😉👍
please, do it again but reverse it the epoxy for the wood, the color would be more acurate
😉👍
Wood turning always looks so wasteful. As you made your own mould have you thought about making a removable insert for the centre of the bowl?
Yes, I made one, but you can't use it in every situation.
It would be way more creative if YOU drew it.
Morgan
That's what I did😉
