- This is the 2nd of a set of 4 videos for working a set of small square Torchon lace designs. The videos demonstrate and guide you through a range of techniques and the patterns can be worked in a variety of different ways.
There is a pattern pack that accompanies the videos which contains 4 different coaster size patterns plus a 5th that I work in the videos that is a sampler of all 4 designs.
The pattern pack consists of a front sheet with photos of the finished lace and what you need to work the designs, a pattern sheet with starting diagram and also the prickings pre printed onto a sheet of buff coloured 230gsm cardstock.
You can buy the pattern from me for £4 by contacting me at claire@bonitocrafts.co.uk or you can buy online at www.roseground.com where you can also purchase the threads you need along with the pattern packs for all my other designs.
If you have enjoyed this video or the others on my channel please feel free to drop something in my tip jar at paypal.me/pools/c/8w4Nj82pot
The glass coasters can be found at www.harlequinlace.com
Wonderful teacher, thank you, I have a better understanding on how to follow the stitches.
Thank you.thoroughly enjoying your tutorials and learning a lot.
Thank you. I’m so pleased they are proving helpful.
❤ this technique what skill.
May o ask where you got your bobbins? I’m just getting started! I’ve bought your pattern but haven’t attempted it yet 😊
Hi Rachel. My bobbins are made by Stuart Johnson. If you google Stuart Johnson lace bobbins you will find his shop. I love his lace bobbins and use them all the time.
I watched part one, my question; how do you know what type of stitch to do in each section? Is it up to the maker, or is there a way to determine which stitch to use? (Just learning)
Hi. With Torchon lace the stitches are chosen by the maker to a degree. So for an area of ground you could use half stitch pin half stitch or cloth stitch and twist, pin cloth stitch and twist. For a fan you could work half stitch or cloth stitch, there are also different ways you can work the outside edge of the fan.
For trails or diamonds you can work cloth stitch or half stitch and there are a number of ways to work roseground.
@@Bonitocrafts Thank you. I see there are many different ways to make the same lace but making it look different with the specific stitch you choose.
Yes. Exactly that. There are so many possibilities for making a piece of lace your own. The joys of handmade lace I think.
Hello Claire, a question on the part of this section that you do not show: when working the third fan from the top, at the fourth pin (towards the "trail" of rose ground) I do not have a pair to bring in, since that pair is further below as part of a rose. I thought I'd leave this pin alone then, but if so wouldn't I end up with one pair too many that I haven't "fed" to the fan? I hope what I am saying isn't too garbled!
If you have correctly worked the section of roseground prior to working fan then the first four pairs coming out of the roseground will be the four pairs to use in the fan.
If you are able to send a picture of your work to me at claire@bonitocrafts.co.uk I may be able to identify if you have done something inadvertently that has put the pairs in the wrong place.
@@Bonitocrafts wow, you are so quick in replying! Thanks a ton, I've just emailed you - but I can try and take a picture tomorrow morning in better light if the one I sent is unclear (there are so many pins!)
@@lovestoswatch2694 just seen your picture. Everything looks absolutely fine and the next two pairs coming from the rose on the right are the two pairs you need to bring in at the next two pinholes.
You’re welcome. You just happened to time it right as my notification pinged while I was relaxing on the sofa. Keep going, you’re doing great.
Sometimes the angles on the pairs coming out of the roseground can make you doubt yourself as they don’t come across at 45 degrees as they would from an ordinary ground or a trail etc.
@@Bonitocrafts thanks so much Claire - and I really do not know how you could figure it out from that bad light picture, you are a genius!!!
Hello, can you get this pattern as a PDF and pay with Paypal? Very nice pattern. Best regards
Hi. I’m very sorry but I don’t do a PDF of any of my designs as I have not found a satisfactory way to protect then from unauthorised sharing online. I hope you understand.
You can buy any of my patterns from www.Roseground.com or directly from myself at claire@bonitocrafts.co.uk I am happy to ship all over the world and will do my utmost to keep shipping costs as low as possible. You can pay via PayPal.
