All of her songs are awesome and she's constantly improving, but there is something about this recording that goes way beyond any of her others for me. It's like in that Disney movie Ratatouille when they give Anton Ego, the food critic, his meal and he loves it so much that the scene zooms out, he drops his pen for taking notes, is swept back in time to his childhood, and forgets about everything around him, focusing only on the wonderfully perfect thing in front of him. THAT is what Angelina does for me in this version of this song.

Great comments and support! Just a point I want to make about Angelina that we all know but needs to be said often enough for those that don't know. Angelina is not making history just because of her voice, but is making an impact on humanity for who she is. I don't know anyone else with a voice like hers, but I certainly don't know anyone who gave their shoes away at 6 years old to an orphan, and remains barefoot to this day during performances! Also, someone who in the last several years has helped raise millions of dollars for children's charities. In my opinion, those acts definitely warrant as much attention as her singing. She's a special young woman in many ways, and that's why she deserves help from all of us in reaching her goals.

By my count this is the third version of My Funny Valentine by Angelina. The best still, in my opinion, was delivered from her living room, seated in a chair, when she was 10 years of age. She didn't get all the words right back then, but the intensity of her delivery when she was hitting that word "stay" marks it as one of the most memorable for me of her earlier efforts. Well worth checking out if you have not already (the outdoor performance from the stage around the same time pales in comparison).

@@stt3430 Sorry to disappoint you but Alice may never sing another song as long as she lives and her version just grabs my heart. Angelina's version is great and I love her use of her soprano notes. It's easier on her voice and is getting stronger. So, I have no other rational reasons why I prefer Alice's version, so I'm left with an irrational reason I just love her whole performance. It doesn't mean I won't listen to Angelina's version, in fact I will be watching reaction videos to see how they like it. I hope this makes sense for you 'cause it's the best I got.

I don't know if you've ever heard Alice Fredenham sing it at her audition on Britain's Got Talent, but it's so good. Angelina Jordan did such a fine job here. Her vocal fry register (the low croaking notes she was hitting) is so very good in the song and she uses it quite often in ballads like this. Also, I love the beautiful orchestration creating that nostalgic sound and vibe you might hear in an old black or throwback movie, a medium I think Angelina and her team should continue to explore.

I noticed that once she moved to L.A. at 16, she's getting too, much into 'I AM PRETTY'. She still sounds GREAT, but is trading her HUMBLE and CLASSY image for a more SEXY one. By my count this is the third version of My Funny Valentine by Angelina. The best still, in my opinion, was delivered from her living room, seated in a chair, when she was 10 years of age. She didn't get all the words right back then, but the intensity of her delivery when she was hitting that word "stay" marks it as one of the most memorable for me of her earlier efforts. Well worth checking out if you have not already (the outdoor performance from the stage around the same time pales in comparison).

Umami genre makes sense though because the word is Japanese,as you know, and AJ's maternal grandfather was Japanese. He passed away in 2018.

I never thought anybody would sing this song to rival Alice Fredenham's audition performance on BGT. But, once again Angelina has proven that she can develop a singing style for any song she chooses to sing, this is a prime example that nothing is beyond her talent. @@stt3430 Sorry to disappoint you but Alice may never sing another song as long as she lives and her version just grabs my heart. Angelina's version is great and I love her use of her soprano notes. It's easier on her voice and is getting stronger. So, I have no other rational reasons why I prefer Alice's version, so I'm left with an irrational reason I just love her whole performance. It doesn't mean I won't listen to Angelina's version, in fact I will be watching reaction videos to see how they like it. I hope this makes sense for you 'cause it's the best I got.

I don't know if you've ever heard Alice Fredenham sing it at her audition on Britain's Got Talent, but it's so good. Angelina Jordan did such a fine job here. Her vocal fry register (the low croaking notes she was hitting) is so very good in the song and she uses it quite often in ballads like this. Also, I love the beautiful orchestration creating that nostalgic sound and vibe you might hear in an old black or throwback movie, a medium I think Angelina and her team should continue to explore.

I noticed that once she moved to L.A. at 16, she's getting too, much into 'I AM PRETTY'. She still sounds GREAT, but is trading her HUMBLE and CLASSY image for a more SEXY one. Guess we'll start seeing her out on the town on TMZ. At least she has her grandmother and mother to protect her. Her voice is getting more body and richer. I wish she would sing 'Don't Cry Out Loud' by Melissa Manchester.
