I cannot thank you enough for this content (I'm definitely going to download your ebook)! Since I got saved, I have really struggled with feeling like I'm not doing enough or I'm doing things wrong. I grew up Catholic (in an extremely abusive household), and ventured into New Age and even the occult...which are all related by "works." No matter what happened, it was up to me to fix it or make it right or make it happen completely...and I could NEVER rest. It's so easy to fall back into striving and perfectionism and legalism and the gospel of works and I sincerely thank you so much for speaking about rest and how His yoke is easy and how He requires mercy not sacrifice. I think Hebrews 10:26-31 really scared me when it talks about deliberately sinning and falling into the hands of the Living God, but after contemplating it more, maybe it's more about the consequences of not actually accepting Jesus as the true savior and sacrifice, and knowing that we WILL be sanctified, or we haven't been saved in the first place. Still wrestling with that part, but I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on Hebrews! God bless you and your ministry!
36:05 I’m reminded of what Tim Keller wrote: “The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.” Only the unilateral unconditional and free love and grace and mercy of God in Christ can save me, for I realize that in me apart from Christ dwells no good thing. May all God’s people know the love of The Father, brought by the Son, and sealed by The Spirit. Amen. 🙏
It seems like the older I get the more aware of my sins I become. I think it’s that way for everyone as we grow in Christ. I don’t know about other people, but sometimes if I sin in someway, like I’m a real jerk to someone for example. (And I can be a real arrogant jerk sometimes.) Anyway, in my flesh I will feel like I have to keep my distance from God for a while or from doing ministry. I will feel this way even after I have confessed the sin and repented. I think Satan tries to tell me that my repentance isn’t good enough or something. Well the other day I was feeling like that and I was praying and I asked God to speak to me in the scriptures. I open up my Bible and I opened it directly to Hebrews chapter 9. I thought maybe the Lord had something to say to me in that text and so I started reading chapter 9 and I got to verse 14, “ How much more will the blood of Christ cleanse our conscience from acts that lead to death SO THAT we may serve the living God.” For the first time I truly understood what it means when we say that Grace makes us free to serve God. We will still sin sometimes, but Grace cleanses our conscience so that we don’t let our sins cripple us from worship, prayer, service, and obedience. Otherwise we might feel like, “Oh well, I just committed that sin and now I can’t minister to this person, I cant pray, I can’t worship, I can’t preach that sermon until I no longer feel bad about it.” Without grace, the knowledge of our sin could lead to despair. That is why I truly believe that if not for the grace of God I would fall away from Jesus. But now I can say with Paul, “Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 7:24-25) Whenever God answers prayer like that and speaks so directly it brings me so much joy.
That was friggin great. Thanks a lot. For me theres also the recognition of “I actually didnt WANT to sin there.” ie I’m born again. Just above what you wrote is: Rom 7.20 Now if I do that I would not, *it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me* 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
I love you guys. Your faithfulness to the gospel is encouraging. I'm in an introspective/examine yourself/pietistic church where the gospel is not preached weekly. It's a good church though, I believe, like most churches we lose the centrality of the gospel for Christians. As finite beings we are so prone to forget and return back to legalism. It's in all our hearts. Oh how we need the good news every hour!
This was so good and I’ll have to listen again. Feels like it cracked open some not so great teaching I’ve heard; so that’s good. Thanks for this. Very helpful!
Thank God that there are Reformed brethren like you two who aren't subscribed to "Lordship salvation" Calvinism aka fear & anxiety-based back loaded works salvation that often results in arrogant fruit inspection of others (playing God) and making claims who is and who isn't saved based on works, a focus on works/performance, and no assurance of salvation. Some of these double tongued MacArthurite types of guys give of a prideful Pharisaical perception to me, but you two come off as humble and preach an un-muddied Gospel of grace without convoluting it with works. Lord willing, keep it up brothers!
Authentic, accurate teachings of Calvin are NOT "Lordship salvation". MacArthur's mistakes (tinges of dispensationalism?) isn't helping and sadly, misrepresents Calvin. READ Calvin's own writings, the Belgic, Westminster Confessions, etc. Calvin was a devoted student of the Apostle Paul. FYI
You know what seems to be the main question out of all the thousands of denominations? "How can I know for sure, that I am saved?" We don't agree by the thousands over centuries of reading the same bible. Don't you wish God would just clear this all up for us, so we can be as one? Everybody is an X something.
What liberty to realise that I’m ok! I’m not perfect but I’m ‘In Christ’. Thank you guys. One of your vids came up, randomly, in my feed and what you guys are saying layers upon other media that I believe God is leading me to, because my default position has always been, I’m not good enough. I always remember what a lady said to me once…life’s messy! I have been someone who was quite judgemental and expecting that people need to just do better. I think that our Lord is showing me that salvation and who He calls is His business. I’m free to be me! 😀
when the bible says examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith it means to see if you are trusting in christ or in your works ,does jesus dwell within you or are you striving for approval
Behavior matters to Jesus, get a command of His seven letters to the seven churches in revelation chapters two and three and be what he wants you to be, an overcomer as He is🙏
I thought "2 Corinthians 13:5, "Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith" wasn't a test to see if I was in Christ but whether I had strayed away from the truth. If I have strayed from truth then I'm to tear down my human understanding and rebuild on HIS truth.
This youtuber’s teaching is.a heresy. BE AWARE!!! ““Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because I tell you, many will try to enter and won’t be able” Luke 13:24
@EpistemicAnthony Someone can get decieved by the truth that did believed the truth at a moment of time.God will not deny his children for salvation.God will chasin his children. If a true believer get decieved to a works base false teaching gospel, the 1st Chasen is he has no insurance about going to heven and worried about going to hell which is a pitiful way to live.He still be saved from hell because they beiveth the truth in a small moment of time.We are saved by Grace apart from works.Once saved we should grow spiritual to do good works to benefit others like soul winning, loving others,to glorify God and can get rewarded in heven. A believer that got decieved by false gospel cannot save no one.God might take his life on earth b4 their time but will still have everlasting life. The non decieved believers should try to bring them back to truth
@@shannonmorgan2866 Thus, if I deny Christ in the future, I am still saved? All I have to do is believe once, the I can leave the faith and do whatever I want and still go to heaven?
One thing that I don’t see is the JOY of our salvation because of no assurance of salvation when sin shows up because Satan accuses us of sin . God says your sins and iniquity I will remember no more. In him there is no sin .
Christ does say you love me if you do what I command. You cant just keep living in terrible sin and claim to Love and follow Christ in spirit and in truth. Noones perfect, nor righteous however you should be actively repenting and trying to improve spiritually everyday. Say a thief keeps stealing and robbing from people but says oh I believe in Christ and His salvation, would you say hes saved or is he just saying those things and not living them? It took me awhile to quite doing drugs and drinking and It was my love for Christ that made me wanna change at all, I failed alot and it hurt my heart immensely because everytime I chose those drugs and actions that corrupted my soul, I was choosing them over Christ, I was going to drugs to numb me and make me feel better than going to Christ Jesus. It was finally enough to make me say no, forever to say in my heart Christ is more important. My point is If i would have just kept doing the drugs and basically living like a pos but said oh I believe in Christ it would have been bs, because I was not actively turning away from(repenting) those sinful and destructive ways.
The bible says that if you break one law, you trangress the whole law. Meaning that no matter how much ypu change your life, even if you sinned once in your whole life, you will be condemned. It says in the bible numerous times that we are saved not through works but through faith in Jesus christ. This doesn't mean christians shouldn't live a holy life. Living a holy life will bring many blessings. But it isn't a requirement for eternal life.
So what had Jesus changed through his sacrifice if mistakes or what the bible calls "inequities" can still condemn you to eternal torment even after being saved and born again? It's because you were saved and had the holy spirit in you, you were able to overcome your addictions, not you were saved because you overcame the addictions. Have to make the order of things clear.
@@nachodaisuki91 I think Im being misuderstood, when you repent there are outward signs right? I am in no way saying anything I did saved me, as Im nothing without Christ and I dont deserve not one shred of His mercy. Ill ask this, say a gangbanger goes and shoots and robs people but tells people he loves Christ but still goes around shooting and stealing, is he saved or no better yet do you think that If He was saved he would have started to turn away from those things? Its extreme but a good example I think. Im saying that when you are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit it will make you want to change and it will not let you bs yourself, Im not saying that you recieve the Holy Spirit by changing those things but that the Spirit will make those changes happen. Even if its small at first and you fail, even for a long time but your still wanting to change because you love Christ and wanna do right by Him. Look Im nobody special and sure as heck dont have all the answers I just know that when I recieved the Holy Spirit it caused a profound and at times even painful change, it made me examine myself and say If I love Christ do I really wanna do this and like I said sometimes I did it anyway and it broke my heart, until finally I chose Christ. Im not tryin to judge or conde,n anyone or declare them damned if they dont agree I just think maybe some people use Christ and Christianity for selfish reasons and dont really love the Lord just say they do. Thanks for not attacking me and actually having a discussion.
The wind blows wherever it wants to. No one knows where it came from or where it goes. God is like that. God blows on who He wants to for His own purpose. Why does God save some and not others? I have no idea.
@@scottsinger273 It's enough for me too, but inquiring minds wanna know how all this works, ya know? We have this big bible and it seems like we would find how or why God chooses people for His own good pleasure works. But...........we don't. We know for sure that no one wants to be saved because we are born at war with God. So God seems to save me from me first! Then by His grace and reasons baptizes some into His own body forever. It's deep to me. With thousands of denominations, we sure don't all believe the same thing or speak the same thing as Paul said he wanted. You shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall set you free? Well it hasn't in the community of people who say they are Christian. Would an unsaved person say "Those are the Christians because look how they love each other?" Nope.
God wants nobody to perish. People have free will. He wants everyone to come to the truth and believe on Jesus Christ. Anyone can be saved but unfortunately many will reject him.
We have had the luxury of defining many words like love for instance, if we as Christians talk to one another about love and what it looks like, there is much disagreement. Like you guys mentioned how conservatives would define love differently , that is a love outside of the church walls and puts an emphasis on living out their faith in all sphere’s. Now that’s one example of how some might believe they are loving their neighbour, bringing a Christian world view into our communities, whether it’s popular or not and might even be judged to be politically motivated. I understand that many are reluctant to make Christ known to a progressively God hating world and see how upsetting it is to their neighbours. You see Christian views on gender, sexuality, pro life and the like can and are topics that are divisive and diverse, even in the Church. I pray that we the Church can come together and be biblical and Spiritual guided, I do believe the Church will have to grow in their understanding of how to live in a post Christian society. We will have to move from being seen as a positive influence in our communities , to having a rapidly negative view, even within the Church.
It is the norm in the western church particularly in America. Set the example and be friendly yourself. It’s what I do at my cold church, I say hello to people and waive my hands to them at times. There is NO perfect church that will cater to you. Just be the Jesus that HE called you to be wherever you go…
Just like @rockkstah2550 said, this is American christianity today. Be the one instead to initiate and love the people who don't love you back. Reflect the gospel even when church members aren't loving. This is what the Lord is teaching me. The American church is very lonely because we are all seeking consumption rather than giving. Be the giver even when it's difficult :)
@@eddw9 yes sir I have. However there’s verses for both sides so we have to deduce what they mean and how they harmonize. Because we both would agree scripture doesn’t contradict itself.
While this sounds correct as stated, who defines what “no fruit” means? Over what period of time? Continuous or not? Was king David not really born again since he intentionally committed adultery, murdered the woman’s husband, and had a child with her? Remember that David didn’t confess to it until Nathan called him out. He had to be confronted, he didn’t offer up his confession without being prompted.
Started read about creeds and confessions.. C. Trueman.. As a non reformed/ calvinist.. Not sure how this will help me. Knowing some of calvinist / Reformed theology.. I can see why folks on my side stopped looking at them... Any thoughts from you will be helpful.. soli Deo glororia.. ❤
Weird thing is,all the things you have listed to stop believing, are the center points of the gospel.Thosecare the main things the bible teaches to live a righteous life.Thatsxthecdifferencecbetween the wheat and the tares,One seeks after righteousness, seperated from the world, the other is full of secret sins, trying to bring their wickedness into the church.
Yeah a few minutes in and I started saying what the what are these dudes talking about. Repentance is fairly important and means to turn away from, so if you are still doing to the wicked things you did before you asked Christ for mercy and not (trying) even if you fail to change those things then all they are is words. Its pretty diabolical actually because its cutting out some of the most life changing and important pieces of the Gospel, so people just stay stationary and never worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth. The Holy Spirit will show you what your doing wrong and will not let you bs yourself.
What about those who have backslidden badly into sin and not actively repenting wil l those people come back eventually or can such people be carnal and still saved ? I believe in eternal security but knowing weather you are saved to begin with is a different thing entirely
I'd like to see you guys teach on Galatian Error, & lord shipping pastors that front load & back load works in their sermons to extract more money & works from the sheep through guilt.😊😊
James 2:1 does not say its impossible to have faith and impartiality, he says dont have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and partiality, its an admonition to those who believe to not show partiality.
Reformed emphasizes God's sovereignty and grace and salvation coming from Him and not from us. It emphasizes that God gives us the ability to believe in Him and He justifies us by trusting in the Lord Jesus and not in our efforts. It emphasizes the promises of God to complete the work He has begun in us.
Ask 30 people and you'll get 35 different answers. I encourage you to study the actual historical definition of reformed. It's been hijacked completely by the theology of "Grace."
God’s policy of salvation is by grace through faith not of works (Eph 2:8-9). Satan’s policy is to preach salvation by works in order to minimize the cross of Christ and to condemn man’s soul (2 Cor 4:3-4).
Yeah, you're right. Paul rested at home in tranquility with no internal struggles or sacrifice. And he led 1000s to Christ at rest. Remember, it was all about him and his feelings. Remnant believers. This is called deconstruction. It's false it's heretical, and these men are the same. Fairh without works is DEAD. You rest in the midst of the work and struggles.
You did not listen to what they were saying. You misrepresent what they said. They are speaking very clearly and make a point to clarify several times.
What happens if you are seeking God, in the Bible, but you don’t feel different or changed and you can’t fully believe or trust even as you want to and attempt to? Are those people not elect, or does the fact they want to be close to God prove they are? This is something I have always wondered when it comes to this side of theology and Calvinism/reformed Christianity etc. Do those who seek and feel they can’t find the way that they see others find just assume they havnt been predestined?
I didn't feel different or connected to God for a long time in my walk. We can be held back for many reasons. Childhood trauma might be one of the reasons it is difficult. So manydifferent things helped me. There was no magic bullet to fix that. However, one thing that might be helpful to practice is to stop looking at ourselves and look more at what he has done for us. Our faith is in him and not in our feelings or inner experiences. If you are judging yourself alot. Try to stop that for a week . Hand it over to god and trust him to know the right way to judge you and grow you in christ. I don't know if this is what you need to hear, I threw it out there just in case.
Hey love! I was so moved by your comment because I have felt like often in my Christian walk but to be honest I think that your problem is what the guys in this video are getting at. Most of us are way too focused on ourselves and how we are feeling about God instead of focusing on God himself and what it means to love Him. I am not a Calvinist so I do not hold to the idea of unconditional election but I do know the feeling you are describing and my best advice to you is to ignore it. It is likely Satan trying to wear you down and convince you that God doesn’t love you. This is a lot more common for Christians than you might think. Stop worrying so much about how you feel about yourself and God and start focusing on how you can serve others and express the gospel to them. The more I draw close to others and love them, sacrifice for them the closer God draws to me. Stop believing the lies that God doesn’t love you. He loves you so much that he sent his only Son to be brutally murdered to you could have life. What more evidence do you need?
Another channel that's got it all right in their heads and that's about it. And the goofy looking guy on the right, if I met him down the street I wouldn't think he's a Christian because he looks like he wants to be part of the world.
HERESY. BE AWARE!!!!! ““Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because I tell you, many will try to enter and won’t be able” Luke 13:24
Great contribution. Clearly these brothers disagree with certain things about Lordship Salvation. Do you have anything beneficial to add to the discussion or are you content with just throwing around the word "heresy" without any elaboration at all?
But you’re assuming that “make every effort” means “do good works in proving your salvation”. There is where so many people get tripped up, making subtle but very common assumptions about what these words mean and in so doing create confusing claims. Entering by the narrow door is entering by Christ himself, and He tells us that in order to be saved we must believe on Him (John 3:16). Just like Matthew 7:21 talk about only those who do the will of the Father will enter the kingdom of heaven, not just those who say Lord Lord. But this doesn’t mean that only those who do good works to prove their salvation will enter. We have to define what the will of the Father is, which Jesus himself explains in John 6:40, which is to look on the Son and believe in Him.
The Bible truth is that we are BOTH justified and sanctified by faith in the blood of the Lamb. The gospel is power and not simply pardon. Romans 1:16. Jesus demontrated His authority to forgive by His power to heal. Mark 2. Sanctification is by grace and faith through the cooperation with the Spirit and results in obedience. 1 Peter 1:2. We are saved by sanctification of the Spirit. 2 Thessalonians 2:13. So we are both justified and enabled to walk in righteousness here and now by grace through faith. To deny the power of the gospel is to deny the strength of the right hand of God in Christ which is mentioned all throughout Scripture in the promises of God.
So as reformed calvinists, you don't believe in free will, right? First time I noticed. The intro, you said there's nothing a person can do to be born again, God has to born him. And I thought Calvinism. Then you said "reformed" and I'm like ooohhh.
@@prayhardco fair enough. But Calvinists believe that one is regenerated in order to respond to the gospel. Simple facts about Jesus deity, death, and resurrection. They don't believe one is saved simply by chosing to believe that Jesus died for their sins. They think people are incapable of believing these things and that God must enable said person (the elect) and that they are saved by that gifted ability and not by believing the gospel. The Bible says one hears the gospel, believes the gospel, and is saved by grace through that faith. Their own faith from their volition that God gave everyone. Not the same gospel. And by default He also hardens others hearts to not receive the gospel. Not the same God i know who desires everyone to be saved.
@@davidseverin7764 The classical Calvinist view is not that man doesn't have free will per-say, but that man's will is in bondage to sin ever since the fall. And in this state of sin, man does not have the power in himself to realize the depth of his of sins and turn to Christ for forgiveness. And this does not deny that the elect hear the gospel and believe, because God works through the Gospel preached. John 16:8 clearly teaches that God works in the heart of individuals. The difference between Calvinist and Arminian views is simply the question of whether this working is irresistable or not.
@@maxxiong why does a person need to know the exact depth of his sin to be saved? Isn't enough to have an understanding that one is a sinner in need of a savior? But you proved my point that Calvinism is false because at least the Armenians believe that one can resist the Holy Spirit's help in believing. If you need God to enlighten you in order to believe, than how can you blame them for not believing? So Calvinism has a God who creates people for the sole purpose of displaying His wrath upon people for "His glory" to show everyone how severe He can be. He obviously doesn't desire all men to be saved then. You see the problem i have here?
@@davidseverin7764 I meant realizing the depths of once sin sufficiently in order to turn to Christ, not a separate requirement. Don't really want to debate this further because I've switched side on this issue twice and also I would really only be a 4-point Calvinist in the eyes of many. I will say the Romans 9 is the key passage here though.
I've heard a lot of let go let God garbage of the years but this is up there. It's like 13 letters Paul wrote you guys completely ignore, and it's for a reason obviously!! The lack of biblical understanding and wisdom is atrocious to say the least, but the many in mathew gotta come from somewhere.
If I believe and do not follow Jesus, am I saved? Am I a disciple of Christ, if I do not obey his commands? Therefore, salvation looks like following Christ. What does following him look like, or, how do I follow him? I obey his commands. You will then say, "But we can't follow his commands perfectly!" Who said obedience is having anything to do with justification? We are justified by God, not by works. However, am I justified if I don't follow Jesus? No, that is antinomian. There has been no change if you are not following after Him by his commands. There is no salvation if you are placing faith in how well you walk after Christ because no one has mentioned perfectionism. You do because you are, not because you are trying to become. I fear the teaching shared here runs the risk of promoting easy-believism and antinomianism. Professing Christians constantly want to be reassured that they can live in sin and not be cut-off. No, that is not true. If you are resting in sin, what would indicate the Spirit of God is at work in you? That you are "trusting in Jesus"? Absurd.
Everyone that is Bible literate knows your save by grace through faith by the blood of GOD JESUS NOT of your own righteousness. The question is, how does one remain save? How does one stay save? Read John 15… that’s the answer.
Calvinism as a black box works because it’s internally consistent. Meaning you can layer Calvinism onto various proof texts and it will work. For example, Matthew 13, the parable of the sower. A Calvinist will say we are the ground and ground cannot change. So if you’re rocky ground, tough luck. The other way to read it is Christ is telling us to cultivate the soil of our hearts to become fertile ground. A Calvinist will say, “no no no… that’s descriptive and not prescriptive. Granted I’m not sure what a Calvinist would say to Matthew 4, “if your eye causes you to sin” but if you just label the things that don’t jive as descriptive, yea sure it works. Calvinism stops working when we realize it makes God the author of evil. So because we have no free will, something like child g(r)ape is authored by God. So it sounds fantastic on the podcast but instantly loses its luster in Auschwitz. As far as the dissection of “the piety gospel”, reminds me of the scene in forgetting Sarah Marshall where Jason Segel is trying to learn to surf and Paul Rudd keeps telling him to do less. Suggestion, step away from the mics and go meditate on the crucifixion.
Dustydesertdeciple, yea man,Jesus is to change your life. All of His deciples were forever changed.Thecnew church will condemn you for living w Godly life, and call it the law.Because they want to continue in the world yet claim Jesus at the same time.
@SusanThroop-fm6kd how many times do we have to tell you Arminiast that unless you are born again FIRST, you cannot and will not have faith or repentance. Faith is a GIFT, we know its not a work. Ephesians 2:8-10. Someone lied to you. You must be born again to have faith. John 3:3-12, Ezekiel 36:31-27. Also without God electing you , you will continue in unbelief, because you are dead in trespasses and sin. Ephesians chapter 1&2. And spiritually dead people have no ability or desire for the things of God. 1Corinthians 2:14, Romans 8:7. We know full well salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. You on the other hand think you're saved because you made a " decision ". God but call you first before you will decide for Him. John 6:44, Acts 13:48.
Faith is a gift. It is an instrument God gifts us, like a pen to write. You can't write(believe) without a pen(faith/new heart) If you believe Christ died for you, you have been granted faith. Rest in that. You have exercised that faith. ❤️
So you see then how you are justified by works and not faith alone. Your faith is perfected (completed) by works. Is faith even real when it does not result in the works God commanded to be done with God saying trust me.
Paul's teachings are how to be justified before God. Being saved by grace through faith alone. James teaches how to be justified before men. Over time men will see fruit. It's interesting that James uses Abraham and Rahab as examples. Abraham was accounted as righteous in Genesis 15:6 about 30 years before the Abraham-Isaac Mountain moment James mentions. Rahab believed around a time after hearing of the Red Sea splitting. She helped the spies many years later. We may be too quick to expect and inspect fruit from someone's faith instead of helping build them up and sharpen them in Christ in life. In Abraham and Rahab's case justification before men took many years. But the justification before God happened decades earlier.
@@owenbest1015 Those that refuse to trust in Jesus for their atonement and eternal salvation, are responsible for their own decision to reject God's free gift.
@@owenbest1015 Yes anyone that loves Jesus, loves righteous and doesn't love the opposite of that (sinful ways). Some change to reflect their groom quickly, some struggle over seasons but still growing, but both with the same attitude of thankfulness in their Savior who himself completes the work he started in them, in which they desire to grow and reflect more and more of him by a work of the Holy Spirit in them. His blood carries them into eternal life even if hypothetically one dies striving to be more and more sin free but has a couple hiccups the last few days of their life. Do you believe in more of a cooperative type of salvation? Jesus did part and you do part. Receiving the cross and keeping the law perfectly? Do you believe Jesus has eternal priesthood that he can continually be an advocate for his sheep who trust in him as their risen Savior? Like Paul said, while all things are lawful under a New Covenant, as believers we want to be profitable (sin less). According to Romans 8:2, we are no longer under the law of sin and death. But we refrain from sin, to not be a slave to it, as God's blood bought children. Not for fear of losing salvation, which is permanently sealed for the believer (Ephesians 1:13).
We are saved by grace alone through faith alone and in Christ alone. But, True saving faith will produce works. Works are the evidence of our faith. If there Is no change in a persons life, no evidence of saving faith , then I would question that conversion If It was real or not. Were they really born again?? We are told by Paul to test ourselves to see If we are really In the faith. James 2:24 spells It out. Also antinomianism Is heresy. And this nonsense that Lordship salvation Is heresy Is ridiculous. Is Jesus not our Lord?? Show me from scripture where Jesus Is not our Lord. Do we follow Him? Do we answer to Him? Do we see His ways of living? Bow the knee to Him? YES!!! Also His disciples called Him Lord. That word has meaning, It's not just some trivial title. Jesus Is not only my savior but He Is my Lord!! If He's not your Lord, then you don't belong to Him. Again, show the scriptures to prove me wrong, not your opinions. And we cannot lose our salvation because our salvation Is based on Him saving, not me inviting Jesus into my heart which Is completely unbiblical. We repent and believe, we don't Invite Him into our hearts. Again scripture please!!
@SusanThroop-fm6kd Jesus constantly tells us good trees create good fruit, bad trees create bad fruit and will be tossed into the fire. It's literally about works as a result of being born again.
@SusanThroop-fm6kd because the bible says so. James 2:24-26. If your life has no change, of desire, fruit, behavior, etc... then you should question your faith, and your salvation. If the gospel has no effect on your life, then most likely you have not been converted. And you must be born again, which means God has caused you to become spiritually alive from the dead. If your life has no fruit, then you may still be dead.
@SusanThroop-fm6kd I said there must be some fruit. If there is absolutely no fruit no change whatsoever in a person's life, then it's not about being discipled, it's about truly converted or not. A new Christian will have very little fruit if any at first, but as time goes on there has to be evidence of that new birth.
Easy believism gospel is what sends people to hell. You can "say" you believe Jesus, but in the same breath do not do a single thing he said or taught. Do you really believe then?
Don’t confuse what the hosts are saying with people who make up a false god who approves of everything they do and think, no matter how sinful. THAT’S easy-believing.
@@christychapin8357 So what do you think Jesus meant when he said: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” I believe that sin should be recognized for what it is, which is evil. But what did Jesus mean by “easy”?
How many things that Jesus taught does one have to do to be saved? Is there a quota? Do you follow His teachings perfectly everyday? Does anyone? Do you see how this is a dangerous game? Following Jesus' teachings is important for a believer, but it is not the basis for our salvation. He died on the cross to pay for our sins. Believe on that. Believe that His blood is enough. That's it. That's the Gospel.
@@malcolm716 I don't understand what you're going on about. By all means, make up a Jesus who never confronts you or your beliefs or ever corrects you. He won't be the Jesus of the Bible, but feel free to do as you please. (John 15:14 "You are my friends if you obey my commandments.") Okay, I should be more patient so please forgive me. Yes -- his yoke is meant to be easy. He's not a mean taskmaster. But we obey him because we love him. Surely, you understand the balance? If you love your big brother or your father & respect them a ton, then obeying them is not an onerous burden -- it something you WANT to do and it comes more or less naturally. But of course we fall on our faces constantly. That's why the Bible calls people "righteous" even though they're still sinners.
It sounds like you're teaching the error of eternal security. There never was and there never has been eternal security. God is no respecter of persons. We are not judged differently than ancient Israel.
No, your gospel is not the one Jesus taught. Jesus said if your eye causes you to sin pluck it out. Jesus said it is the performance of the heart, the purity of the mind. Read the gospels before ever looking at Paul's letters. Jesus saw the tax collector beating his chest with his head down. 100% humility knowing his sinfulness, but also dealing with his sin by not taking more than what was owed. The doctrines of grace should not exalt the sinner to identify themselves as the untouchables. Notice the tax collector. He's not exalted by grace, he's humbled by it
Repentance is fruit of faith. We are justified by the faith- not the fruit of faith. We are united to Christ by the instrument of faith. Justified by Christs worthiness and not our own.
(And I can be a real arrogant jerk sometimes.)
Anyway, in my flesh I will feel like I have to keep my distance from God for a while or from doing ministry.
I thought maybe the Lord had something to say to me in that text and so I started reading chapter 9 and I got to verse 14,
“ How much more will the blood of Christ cleanse our conscience from acts that lead to death SO THAT we may serve the living God.”
For the first time I truly understood what it means when we say that Grace makes us free to serve God.
We will still sin sometimes, but Grace cleanses our conscience so that we don’t let our sins cripple us from worship, prayer, service, and obedience.
Otherwise we might feel like, “Oh well, I just committed that sin and now I can’t minister to this person, I cant pray, I can’t worship, I can’t preach that sermon until I no longer feel bad about it.”
Without grace, the knowledge of our sin could lead to despair. That is why I truly believe that if not for the grace of God I would fall away from Jesus.
But now I can say with Paul, “Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!”
(Romans 7:24-25)
Whenever God answers prayer like that and speaks so directly it brings me so much joy.
Amen, love it
Thank God for His grace and kindness to us. Not all experience this. Thank the Lord, for certain!
That was friggin great. Thanks a lot.
For me theres also the recognition of “I actually didnt WANT to sin there.” ie I’m born again.
Just above what you wrote is:
Rom 7.20 Now if I do that I would not, *it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me*
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
yes and i hate my sin more each day, but i still sin my hope is Jesus for salvation.

This is so good and healthy. I love your football analogy. "Leave it all on the field!" Isn't this the narrow way? Jesus ALONE.

One thing that I don’t see is the JOY of our salvation because of no assurance of salvation when sin shows up because Satan accuses us of sin . God says your sins and iniquity I will remember no more. In him there is no sin .
It is no longer I who live but Christ that lives in me , it is not about us.
John 14, 15-31. 'If you love me, keep my commandments'.
I think what youre missing is none of us want to “continue to live in terrible sin”. So that’s not really involved here.

Pray for me I find a local fellowship. Last few I felt the members were cold and didn’t reach out to me or my spouse.
That's very common. Have gone to a few different churches for the last 20 years and they have all been like that sadly.

James 2:1 does not say its impossible to have faith and impartiality, he says dont have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and partiality, its an admonition to those who believe to not show partiality.
What does reformed mean?
Reformed emphasizes God's sovereignty and grace and salvation coming from Him and not from us. It emphasizes that God gives us the ability to believe in Him and He justifies us by trusting in the Lord Jesus and not in our efforts. It emphasizes the promises of God to complete the work He has begun in us.
Ask 30 people and you'll get 35 different answers. I encourage you to study the actual historical definition of reformed. It's been hijacked completely by the theology of "Grace."

Interesting talk, maybe it's a bit of both
God’s policy of salvation is by grace through faith not of works (Eph 2:8-9). Satan’s policy is to preach salvation by works in order to minimize the cross of Christ and to condemn man’s soul (2 Cor 4:3-4).
Paul washer. Ray comfort, are you watching this
Are those who believe they need works to prove salvation still saved then? Can they be saved and deceived?
Yeah, you're right. Paul rested at home in tranquility with no internal struggles or sacrifice. And he led 1000s to Christ at rest. Remember, it was all about him and his feelings.
Remnant believers. This is called deconstruction. It's false it's heretical, and these men are the same. Fairh without works is DEAD. You rest in the midst of the work and struggles.
You need to listen to what they are saying, you clearly have not. Misrepresenting a believer is sin and not obeying the command to be understanding

@@TheLordismyportion did you watch the video? Watch again so you will understand why I brought the verse here.
TULIP will always lead to distruction.
❤😂
Spurgeon once said “I can find a man whose will is enslaved by sin and another who whose will enslaved by Christ. But a free will I have never seen”
Yall should have someone that doesn't believe like you two

Ephesians 1:13 also. Through a permanent seal
How many times do we have to tell you Calvinest that salvation happens through faith which we must exercise. Faith is not a work.
@@ryanbrown1826 these guys are responsible for unrepentant sinners in hell.
@@owenbest1015 Those that refuse to trust in Jesus for their atonement and eternal salvation, are responsible for their own decision to reject God's free gift.
@@ryanbrown1826 trusting Jesus is to obey Him and repent their sins
I'm not an Arminian. How do you know that saving faith will produce works.
@@mariosangermano If there is no fruit, you probably weren't disciple or disciple improperly.
Remember Jesus is the one that stated that his “yoke is easy”
Don’t confuse what the hosts are saying with people who make up a false god who approves of everything they do and think, no matter how sinful. THAT’S easy-believing.
@@christychapin8357
So what do you think Jesus meant when he said:
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
I believe that sin should be recognized for what it is, which is evil.
(John 15:14 "You are my friends if you obey my commandments.")
Okay, I should be more patient so please forgive me.
Why is this Podcast???? You don't agree with Lordship Salvation???? Why??? Man, I'm too tired...
Guys - way too much base in the soundtrack. Way too much. And way too much pietism in the church.
He's not exalted by grace, he's humbled by it
Glad I've never been to this strawman church you're describing. That'd be awful.
You are a false teacher. Let's talk about it
Calvinist cult
FALSE TEACHER ALERT. Jesus preached to STOP SINNING AND REPENT. Why would anyone listen to you two over King Jesus. The world may never know
I did not hear these Brothers deny this.
Repentance is fruit of faith. We are justified by the faith- not the fruit of faith. We are united to Christ by the instrument of faith. Justified by Christs worthiness and not our own.
