Unless someone says otherwise wise plus I ask the person about split pay for royalties it's very important Or I buy the writes to use it but I make sure everything is worked out in the agreement. During myspace days, I made a beat, contacted this one Serbian rapper who was a legit rapper and offered my beat for free in exchange for credit. He liked it and agreed. Once the song came out, they took my entire mekody, added their own drums and never gave me any credit. I was naife, lessons learned.

If I buy a beat, record on it, arrange it, mix it, master it… I produced that song. Adding someone else as a producer that wasn’t involved in the process feels wrong to me. I think the hope is that a manager or A&R for a huge artist will discover you through producer credits on lesser known songs. I'm releasing my debut beat tape on February 6th, and I filled out all the credits on Landr. The confusing part is when to use your producer name and when to use your government name.
The only credits that matter are the one's not being publicly listed on album covers, ect. Get your publishing and royalties right and you'll rarely care what people think about who made the track. The real ones know.

@@mzhope213 pro registration is just you naming the owners of the underlying composition. So in general, you as the lyrics writer would own half and the producer as the writer of the music owns the other half. Each of your halves break down into two other equal parts, the writer and the publisher splits. When you register the song, you’re not registering it to yourself; you’re registering it to everybody with equity in the underlying composition. So you need to know who owns how much, what their name is, their ipi numbers, their publisher’s name etc Just watch a video on how to register a title and it’ll make more sense. Sounds harder than it is.

@ So I did a little digging. The label that D Sturdy is signed to Stack or Starve records is a Philly based label, that did a joint venture with Def Jam in 2023. It could be that D Sturdy wrote the song, or had the song first and G3 brought the song…. Him being registered for the song is crazy, because of how the song came out…
Sarah J was always sus to me. I stopped sending her beats when I started to see her name credited as a producer along with the person who actually produced it. If you placed the record so be it get your cut, but don’t be listed for something you didn’t actually do.

Two questions - Question 1 : If the person who made the beat has input on the songs process all the way to completion with the artist are the not a producer? Question 2: I worked with a artist through beatstars and every time he had something going on with the song he ran it by me and if I didn't like it he would have changed it so he is just as much as a producer of the song as I am. He even made a hook based off of the song off of my song title. Am I not a CO-producer?
If he came up with the beat without input from the producer then he has co produced that song. A lot of songs don't go through the process of producer, like in the past. Nowadays you have a mix engineer, beat maker and the artist.

@ So I did a little digging. The label that D Sturdy is signed to Stack or Starve records is a Philly based label, that did a joint venture with Def Jam in 2023. It could be that D Sturdy wrote the song, or had the song first and G3 brought the song…. Him being registered for the song is crazy, because of how the song came out…
Sarah J was always sus to me. I stopped sending her beats when I started to see her name credited as a producer along with the person who actually produced it. If you placed the record so be it get your cut, but don’t be listed for something you didn’t actually do.

Beatmakers are not producers
Two questions -
Question 1 : If the person who made the beat has input on the songs process all the way to completion with the artist are the not a producer?
Question 2:
I worked with a artist through beatstars and every time he had something going on with the song he ran it by me and if I didn't like it he would have changed it so he is just as much as a producer of the song as I am. He even made a hook based off of the song off of my song title. Am I not a CO-producer?
If he came up with the beat without input from the producer then he has co produced that song.
A lot of songs don't go through the process of producer, like in the past. Nowadays you have a mix engineer, beat maker and the artist.
Then that will make the artist his own producer
